Hachiman is a perfect example of a well-written protagonist. His viewpoint is explicitly dissected by the story, him telling us things we're supposed to digest and challenge. And in challenging his negativity, we might be forced to examine ourselves by proxy. Even if you're not that similar to Hachiman, if you're introverted you've probably said "yeah I've felt that way before". I've never been a particularly negative person, yet I empathized with all of his viewpoints, along with his desire to live in sincerity instead of hiding behind facades, pretenses and walls. Anime romcoms in particular are awash with protagonists that place very little importance on making the main character stand out in any way. And this even applies to some of the better romcoms!

Hachiman is interesting, but I've always found Izumi from Horimiya way more relatable.

Unfortunately there is no healthy way to live without feeling emotions. Trying to kill off your emotional side will only make you depressed and estranged from yourself. You are an emotional creature, and that's something you just have to come to terms with.

Things Toradora had going for it on top of good characters and plot is you didn't realize you were going to be taken on a journey in the early episodes, and the show ended before the quality could dip. Where as a lot of anime's would drag on and on season after season.

The point is to have the ability to be able to 'be like Ayanokoji' when necessary. There are times when it is required to detach yourself from your emotions and view situations and people objectively. There are times when a pragmatic, results focused approach with a disregard for conventional morality and ethics is necessary. Besides, human beings are manipulative by nature; those who claim they don't use manipulation, at least to some degree, are lying not only to you but to themselves. We certainly do use people as tools to serve our own purposes. It's just that most people do it unconsciously and/or haphazardly. The difference then lies in the level of skill and awareness that is applied.

My man I have been in Akira's situation (minus the zombie apocalypse). It was my first job, and naturally, I wanted to do a good one. Six months later, I was a wreck. From the massive overtime, abusive boss, to the actual dung of the actual work. I fell into a job induced depression. I related so muck to Akira's struggle in the first episode BEAT TO BEAT. I would wake up in the mornings and wish for the end of the world JUST so I didn't need to go to work. I even related to when MC realized that he no longer had to go back to that life. This was over 6 years ago BTW.

Script, editing and general direction of the video is very nice! Sound could use some work. Specifically get a filter (something to cover) your mic and be careful not to earrape randomly with the BGM volume. Looking forward to more vids man, subbed
