      @brasstard7.627 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@stuartstratton1096 sure if it can be hit with a 20mm HE it will do damage. But these fuzes have to actually contact and there was always a problem with a fuze that was too sensitive and one that was not sensitive enough depending the target. It's more of a gun sighting system and operator problem with small AA guns like 14.5, 20, 23mm. The ammo and guns are more than capable of downing many types of drones but if the sights missing and it's wiggling around in the bed of a pickup it's just playing the Jihadi Lottery as it's known. It's hard to hit any small flying object unless its radar and computer controled. They still use these very rounds to shoot mortars out of the sky with the Vulcan in a land version of the Navy's CIWS. Proximity fuze would be the way to go, it's just not been worth it in the past for such small anti aircraft artillery machine guns.

    I like your experimental approach. While Japanese Navy used British 303 for their aircraft machine guns, Japanese Army used type 89 7.7mm ammo for army aircraft machine guns. Type 89 7.7 mm ammo is a semi rimmed cartridge purposely designed for aircraft machine guns. Dimensionally, type 89 ammo only differs from the later type 99 ammo (proper ammo for type 99 rifle) by the semi rim. Lt. Onoda used the type 89 ammo from the wreckage of army aircraft on the island to feed his type 99 rifle. the Navy 7.7 ammo would not have worked as your video demonstrated.

    Making a round bolt on a lathe or choosing the right diameter round bar to make your bolt will make it easier for you to git the dimensions fit right As for the charging handle tap and screw it inplace should fix the jamming issue

    I guess he was filing down 7.7SR as it was the Japanese main mg cartridge. So technically if you did file down the semi rim it would function. The 7.7R (Japanese made .303) was mostly used on aircraft Lewis guns and probably belt fed guns, the 7.7 Arisaka is rimless. So the Japanese had 3 types of 7.7 all based on .303 If you want to shoot a 7.7 for cheap you can get a chamber insert and use 7.62x39 I'm sure it could be converted to 54R but the bolt would need to be modified for the rimmed case. .303 and guns can be converted to 54R or 7.62x39, probably 7.62x25 tok or Mauser also and .32acp The UK, Russia and Japan all used the same bore size as in .311 or so with the US using .308 I have a SMLE and a Martini Enfield (sporters with bad headspace,leads and muzzles from cordite), the barrel just had to be cut at the chamber and muzzle end then re chambered for .54r but have to mess with the mag on the smle but can get a full 10. I have a Chinese Arisaka with an SKS barrel in 7.62x39 and a 7.7 with a chamber insert (not a great one, after they stopped chrome lining the bores) 54r used to be very cheap when in surplus same with 7.62x39 I have crates of 8mm, tok, 54r, 7.62x39 and 7N6. I don't want to shoot the 7N6 as it's great and you just can't get it anymore.

    make you realise how much force is exerted onto the round as it rifled/spun ey, what i find crazy is there is enough friction between that ball and its seat in order to spin it quick enough to bend that circlip and allow it to balance central, i wouldnt mind betting the gunners/loaders flicked those circlips off and armed them before it went into the chamber

    Hey, i was born in Ethiopia and raised in France. This rifle makes me very proud ! If Ethiopia never got colonized its also because all of his allies sent rifles and ammunition, the french didnt need the gras anymore as they updated to the lebel and so they sold a lot to gunsmiths in france for the price of steel and also to Ethiopia. In france you can see a lot of gras conversion to smoothbore for shooting 16. Cal for hunting. Cool video mate !

      Also wound up getting 2 Berdan Rifles from Ethiopia, both have been shortened by cutting the end of barrel and stock. One that has a half stock leaving much of the barrel exposed is marked for Ras Welle, it also has the rear sight modified into a Buckhorn sort of style probably more useful firing off a horse. The other retains wood out to the end and is marked for King Menelik and something else I could not translate. Russia gave 30,000 Berdans and 6 million rounds if I remember correctly. I was very happy all have the markings of such great people from a very interesting history. It's really too bad the world put an arms embargo on them after they defeated the Italians. The Gras shoots great now, it likes 45acp bullets at .452 and being a Chassepot conversion the groove diameter is just a little over at .455. Still can't believe I get to own such pieces of history and they all still work.
