How to Process Quail Whole: Detailed Guide for Beginners
Finally posting *something* on this here TH-cam Channel of mine! [cringe] If you’re watching this video, please know it’s my very first one and my editing skills were definitely lacking (I recorded two angles but only figured out how to work on one… oh well). Grace is appreciated!
Because of the encouraging community and so many requests to have a reference video after a very successful hands-on quail butcher workshop at Quail Con 2022, I am sharing my process of butchering quail whole which is my preference for aesthetics and/or final product presentation.

😇😎😇 👍👍👍
I would buy the feathers from You if possibly for fly fishing lures
What an excellent video- thank you!
Thankyou! Much easier than 50 years ago processing a hundred chickens the week before school started every year! I will be teaching my daughters and showing them this video!
This was a great video! Thanks for sharing 💜
Very informative video. I really appreciate you showing how to clean them whole without spatchcock. Thank you
Thank you, clear and concise....and (ahem) -your cat seems particularly interested in the procedure!
Sad this is the only video from you. Hope to see you give TH-cam another shot and that all is well.
With all due respect ma'am, what's in it for the quail?
Wow. Thank you. I’m looking forward to seeing more videos from you!
Hi Jasmine, I don’t know if you will see this. We met at Quailcon 2024. Would you do some videos of cooking quail. I think I remember you saying that you cook quail in your Insta-pot.
What breed of quail?
Hi, totally agree with everyones comments, sometimes you move your hand closer to where you perceive the camera to be but actually your hand then leaves the picture frame, so that was a shame, I too look forward to more, thanks a bunch. From NZ.
Absolutely love this video...very informative ❤
17:17 The cat enters the room. lol
Great video, thank you
I know this video is 2 yrs old now, but you taught me this at QC24 and the is a brilliant refresher! Thank you!
Thanks for this video. I think i can do this now. We going to need to do this with some roosters
If you hold the bird upside down it gets head rush and gets sleepy and go to sleep.. thats when you can cut the head off. It's less traumatic for the bird as well when it's done like this
awesome thanks girly
Are those jumbo quail? Question answered at about 20 minutes.
Thank u! I’m a newbie and youve been extremely helpful! I went in person and it was a horrifying experience! I was so horrified I almost changed my mind about making sure that me and my family have food that I can trust. Thanks to you, I’m going to continue my plan to have a self-sustaining homestead in my backyard full of veggies and now with meat and eggs from the quail! Thank you, thank you thank you!
Thanks for the video! Is that a pear ring?
Thank you for this video...we've bought acerage and want to raise quills like my grandfather did...he supplied all the restaurants in our town...
I only process quail after a hatch to get rid of excess males. This is by far the best video on TH-cam for it . This is my third time watching it before processing. I guess you decided you made the perfect video so there was no need to continue making more lol. I would love to see more, but I hope this one lives forever on TH-cam even if you don’t ❤
Facts!!
This has to be the easiest cleanest video, I was all like "I need to purchase a plucker and a shed to process since feathers will be flying every where, neighbors will think I'm a serial killer ... maybe I can process over night so no one sees me ... then again there's always damn kids in windows taking a video and sending to the police ... lmao ... thank you for giving me confidence, I haven't done this yet and was so nervous ... but now not so bad ... eh? lol :)
We did our first Quail last night, dispatch 12. Thank you so much for your insightful and very helpful video. Now we just need some recipes.
WOW!… What a GREAT first video. My first thought, (I’ll watch every video this girl makes!) but… to my surprise, this is the only video on your channel. You are a natural. Very neat, very organized, very educational, detailed information, pleasant to listen to, and easy on the eyes. You have it all. I have subscribed in hopes that you will put out more content. Thank you, God bless you
Thank you for sharing. After you are done and you put them in that pan. Was there anything in the pan like water. Do you cover them before you put in frig
nice. your snipping of quail head with shears will make men cringe :)
Great video!!! I hope you make more!
Very well done. Great job.
I'm just starting my quail journey and yours is the first processing video I have watched. Thank you for the great video and giving me some confidence that I might get the hang of it.
Perhaps you could redo this with somebody operating the camera so that we can actually see what you're doing in close ups when required. Particularly as you went off screen a few times when you thought that you were showing us something? Thank you.
Why don't you just pull it off
Where are you from
I used my Cutco Shears to perfectly trim an insulated steel door to install a doggie door! THey are great to have in the tool box or kitchen! THANK you for this tutorial on Quail- I am nearing a decision to become a quail raiser.
Great video! I hope you will start making more!
this video was very impressive. Very informative and professional thank you for sharing
I stumbled upon your channel and absolutely learned so much from this video. I have just a few quail, and plan on raising more of them. Your video and explanation made processing easy, understandable and so helpful. Wonderful video. Thank you so much for the information you provided with very much needed detail.
Will you post a link to those shears.
You are distractingly beautiful… but very informative video, thanks! 😊
Could not see when you reached out to show something several times.
Great video. I don't have any quail, but I do have turkeys and plan on getting chickens. I haven't processed any of my turkeys yet because they aren't old enough, but I plan on having one next Thanksgiving. You made this look very easy (aside from any emotional issues/attachment that could arise). I'm tempted to get quail, my cousin raises them in NC and my daughter loves birds. I'm just a little bit worried they will reproduce too quickly.
Loved the kitty watching!!
I have been contemplating raising quail in a urban area but was wondering if I coudl process their WONDERFUL meat. You have given me confidence and a mental/spirit related way to say THANK you to the bird for its sacrifice to provide sustenance for me. THank you!
Hi dear Thanks for the video ❤ Did you slaughtered them yourself ? 🔪🐓🍖😘
Thank you so very much for sharing. You did such an amazing job!
so cute
Thanks from Hungary 🕊🇭🇺🕊
