Wera 838 small ratchet screwdriver is my new favourite
The new(ish) Wera 838 RA S Bits Hand Holder with Ratchet Function (let’s just call it the small ratchet screwdriver) is really great. As compact as a stubby but with the ability to use it like a precision driver. Really enjoy the size and feel of it.

Wera ratchet with in-hex socket bits

To handle heavier duty gear in the lab I recently purchased the Wera 8004B 3/8” ratchet with Wera 3/8” in-hex socket set. Very happy with the feel and utility of this set.
Joker 6000 "double hex" spanners - neat features vs regular spanners
มุมมอง 1732 ปีที่แล้ว
The Joker 6000 spanners have a double hex pattern in their open face with a "shelf" to help hold in bolts and fasteners. I think this is a really neat feature, which allows you to "pick up" a nut or bolt with your spanner and help maintain engagement with a fastener as you are tightening/loosening it.

Comparing Mac Studio speakers to USB speakers (Mac Studio speakers are not good)

Hopefully the differences sound as clear to you over a recording as they do to my ears. When buying a Mac Studio, don't forget to factor in which speakers you'll want to buy and where to put them on your desk.
Comparing sizes of Wera screwdriver heads
มุมมอง 11K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Up for comparison are: one of the Wera microscrewdrivers, Wera 813R, Wera 816R, Wera 826T. In comparison to a “normal” screwdriver, the Wera 816R is pretty comparable, perhaps a little shorter.
Checking out Wera Zyklop speed ratchet set
มุมมอง 13K2 ปีที่แล้ว
This is the closest to an all-in-one ratchet set that Wera sells for my purposes. I would like some small hex bits and another screwdriver and/or ratchet handle, but it has a decent range of socket sizes and bits and good value. The Zyklop tool itself feels fantastic, if a little unbalanced for screwdriver use.

    Is there any play on the bit while attached to the handle?

    • @wspr
      @wspr หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is a little but it doesn’t feel loose or unstable. I think Wera typically has more play for its sockets and bits than some other brands, I suspect it is a design choice to ensure easy (dis)connections (avoid jamming)

    how do you call that thing you were trying the screwdrivers on ? same couplers are used in turnstiles i would like to know the name of it

    • @wspr
      @wspr หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry for the slow reply! I guess I just call them shaft couplers :-) I think this is referred to as a jaw type. Bunch of different types depending on which style of misalignment you need to cater for and how stiff they need to be.

    I have the 5 inch one and without this small defect, but made by Stanley. I suspect Stanley is killing the Irwin brand with such types of minor defects. The only gripe I have with this one and mine is that the adjusting screw should have been a butterfly type. Now I have to use a six inch slip joint pliers to tighten it else it scrapes my thumb.

    These are absolutely the best locking pliers of this size that you can get. The "flaws" (as he calls them) are characteristics that have no affect on operation or value. I have had a pair of these (which I only got because they were in a kit of 4 vice grips) and these little tiny ones turned out to be incredibly useful. I have used the to fix things in my house, restore a 32' sailboat, and save my hands and fingers in so many ways. Of all the tools he shows in this video, on a scale of 1 to 10, I rate these at 10 and the others no better than 2. I would not have said this before I owned them, but having this amount of force on a tool this small is incredibly useful.

    Having also decided I really like the ergonomics of the 816R, I wonder if you’d be interested in the 817R. With its shaft retracted, it’s functionally identical to the 816, but being able to extend the shaft means it also works well with regular 25mm bits (very handy when I don’t have my 89mm bits to hand). So it basically gives us the best of both worlds :)

    Looks like your moving jaw doesn't pop out from closed position and that's why that bar falls out of the groove. I have the same pliers and I don't have this problem. But you're right that the screw is too long, I wonder if there's any practical reason for that.

      The leatherman crunch is decent, but not as robust as a dedicated pair of locking pliers. I don't remember having this issue with the 4" (or 5"?) Irwin needlenose vise grips that I have. Maybe he has a defective one or knockoff? That flaw doesn't seem normal.

    Is this actually a graphic novel or a novel with the occasional illustration?

  • @elliotwalton6159
    @elliotwalton6159 ปีที่แล้ว

    As an artist I have to say this 'First Look' completely fails. This is an 'Illuminated Edition' and you spend the entire video talking about typography and the placement of page numbers. You are obviously unfamiliar with Jim Woodring and that's fine. You do acknowledge his 'decorations' but show nothing of his contributions which are the selling point of this edition. Without Woodring, there's no point in purchasing this book, and after watching your entire video I have no more familiarity with the contents than I did before. an opportunity missed.

    • @nuckygulliver9607
      @nuckygulliver9607 ปีที่แล้ว

      well.. it showed it. Kind of disappointing. Not Woodring's fault but I thought he did a comic adaptation of it. These illustrations don't really convey the book or story to me at all. they do seem to be a wallpaper decoration.

    One item that should manage to fit inside the case is their t-handle (pn: 003524). It's a tiny little thing but it will work well as the 2nd tool when working with nut/bolt combos, or in a socket/screw combo where you can use the ratchet in screwdriver mode.
