It's becoming obvious that this close to 4th of July we aren't going to be able to make any reservations around Big Bear. Is it easy to find dispersed camping spots up there? Near the lake? Appreciate any info.

Probably my favorite So Cal trail. The spot right where you started this video is now littered with pits that makes it like driving through a mortar practice field. Thank God for 4-Low and ATRAC!!

I ordered the sequoia from REI for $72 but just saw the outland Living Firecube and wonder if it's worth considering with the sleeker packaging and metal lid since I'll be campging with a small sedan. I have a Kukenam 3 ruggedized on a 5 foot Tacoma bed with the half-height bed rack. This biggest pain in the neck is getting the zipper closed behind the cab. We have a 4 foot length of paracord attached to the zipper which helps zipping up the cover behind the cab and the wife sits in the back seat with the rear window open to help guide the zipper. The wife and I take care to fold the fabric in nicely when closing the tent else it's much harder to close and zip the outer cover.
