A Town Called Tequila 🇲🇽 Mexico Vlog
In this video, my dad and I take a day trip from Guadalajara to Tequila in Jalisco, Mexico. It only takes about an hour to get from the city to Tequila, one of Mexico's most popular magical towns.
Today the town of Tequila is popular because of its drink, colonial architecture, and rich cultural history. Native people have been living in the area since around 300 years BCE. They cultivated the native blue agave plant for many reasons, to combat erosion, to use in construction, to eat as a sweet dessert, and to make a fermented drink called mescal.
When the Spanish Franciscan friars arrived in 1530 they founded a village called Santiago de Tequila. Just 10 years later, the native people from surrounding areas rebelled against the Spanish. I don’t want to go too much into the details but it did not go well for the Spanish friars. Spanish troops had to be sent in from Mexico City to control the situation.
It wasn’t until 1600 that Pedro Sanchez de Tagle built a large-scale distillery and cultivated blue agave to make Mezcal Wine (now known as Tequila) from the local fermented mescal. It wasn’t until 1873 that the name was changed from Mezcal wine to Tequila, to differentiate it from drinks made in other regions.

I went to Catholic schools for 12 years and I grew up in NYC. I would have preferred a NYC that was 1/3 Islamic, in place of the usurers...With (((THEM))) being a small class of merchants and doctors, NOTHING MORE. No hibirus in politics and Islamic norms. NO ALCOHOL, HALAL and GOOD MUSIC. You found the mosque moving for its aesthetic. I agree. GEOMETRY IS ALL. Church was lovely as well. I love Lezginka. Loved your video.
