Maria Luisa by Sagreras - recorded on the island of Mauritius 🇲🇺
Good morning from the beautiful island of Mauritius 🇲🇺
It's hard to believe but l'm off the east coast of Madagascar enjoying a nice few days of rest, good company and food, and jet lag recovery before my concert and masterclass tomorrow!
Playing Maria Luisa by Sagreras - recorded on my iPhone with no mic, but I hope you enjoy the birds singing along!
Recorded in a 2016 Martin Blackwell guitar with @daddarioandco strings (ej45ff with nylon 1st string)

This guitar is currently available! Trying something new here! For many years now, I’ve had fun buying, selling, and making videos of some of the finest guitars in the world! Typically, I make these videos (like the one you see here) private and only viewable to those viewing the listing (on Reverb or my website) and I’ve probably made close to 100 of them! I don’t make them public because they...

    Interesting! Going to try these , And well explained! I like your humility in terms of acknowledging great players when you are yourself a extremely good player ! I try to make little exercise s out of my repertoire if I can but I could spend 15 mins a day on these I think

    Beautiful playing. I am the person that commissioned that guitar from Martin... Always loved the cedar / maple combination and it works well in a double top.

    I expected that I would like the cedar more than the Spruce but it was the other way around. The spruce was markedly more articulate - each note rang out beautifully clear.

    I listened to this interview with great interest - I certainly didn't understand everything... But what came across to me was Stephan Connor's deep love of research, of discovering the “secrets” of the woods, of bringing the woods to life in sound. And sound is something magical, it touches us all. Thanks to Stephan Connor for this beautiful personal insight into his life and work with these wonderful guitars! And thank you Evan for sharing this very interesting conversation ! Musical greetings from Germany, Angelika 🙏👏👏

    Cedar alwaya has a beautiful resonance and a warm tone that makes you want to hug your guitar. With spruce I have always found it hit and miss..... you either get a flat tone or you get something that just blows you away. The spruce classic in this video is better to my ears. Beautiful sustain and clear balanced tone

    I've been playing my guitar biult by Toni for almost 15 years now and I would never change or sell it. I was lucky to buy it when he was becoming widely known, but even now, when he's a guitar-luthier-superstar, he - as a human - still is a humble, honest person. A true figure to follow and admire 😊

    I do prefer the spruce because it sounds like a guitar with brighter trebles... While the cedar sounds more like a piano with trebles a little bit muffled... But in reality both guitars sound nice.

    Spruce with a advanced guitarist is the go to, you can get that warm sound by playing closer to the neck of the guitar and with your fingertips rather than your nail and then get that shiny and clear high frequencies with the nails, you cant do both with a cedar guitar

    Love your playing on both guitars. Imo at the cedar the notes sound more bound together, vs the more distinguished, articulated sound of the notes on the spruce top. I liked them both but would personally prefer the more meloncholic cedar. Which one do you prefer?

    @klaramorgan1577 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Cedar for noob, Spruce for confirmed, perhaps spruce will sound more warm and sweet with time..
