Gardening with ME
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 5 มิ.ย. 2020
Hi my name is Melissa and I Love to Garden and am an avid "Do it Yourselfer", I have done many projects over the years from tearing down walls to building a pool house and creating a home and yard that we call home. We live in Ohio, zone 6 (previously zone 5) and have lived at this home for 8 years now. When we first moved in I tried to be very frugal, buying plants on clearance and nursing them back to health. Today they are strong and beautiful! Gardening is very rewarding when you get to look back at all the before and after (or during) pictures.....and to dream and plan for the future.
Im Starting a Flower Farm
I am so excited to finally tell everyone. Ive been sowing seeds since I decided to do this which was about January. Everything is coming along and since this video we have installed a fence (to keep the deer out) and have many more plants started.

Starting Sweet Peas and Snapdragon plants in the greenhouse. These are cool season crops which means they perform best when the weather is cool and start to slow down or even die off as the water heats up.

How to make a Plant Cover Protecting spring crops Hoop House using PVC
Thank you! I now have less than no idea what I am doing :)
I’m going to try this on my porch! Ty for sharing!
May I ask what is already on your patio before the Granite Grip?
Does it ever fruit?
you have very nice feet
What color did you use?
Was the old finish also Granite Grip.
Did your Clematis ever grow up that tree? If so, please post pictures! 😊
Nice video. How well did the paint hold up over the years?
now more like 100 dollars
Im a little concerned that you had to redo high traffic areas.
In summer do you have to cover them to protect them from extreme heat and harsh sun? I had one of these, it was doing great in the pot then i was told to plant it in the ground and it died in the ground. I believe the 2021 summer killed it when we had 3 straight weeks of over 100 degree days consecutively.
No i have found as long as you give it consistent water it is good
Please can you give us an update of your baby blue spruce. My wife and I are interested in planting some this spring.
I was a bit leery about using this product due to the reviews I saw. However, your video has me wanting to try it. Much appreciated.
You could always try it in an inconspicuous spot and see how you feel
How do you think that would work with kids roller skating and playing on it?
I think it would do pretty good because my dogs nails didn’t bother it at all, but you could always check with the company
Best to power wash first, before applying that product.
Actually in the summer the leaves push up a foot each day, not week. They grow 1/2 inch an hour.
Beautiful Blue Spruce! Thank you for planting and sharing!
The finished product looks great! You mentioned power washing the porch. Power washing used hot water whereas pressure washing uses non/heated water. Everyone uses the terms interchangeably but as a professional pressure washer, it always stands out to me. Professionally speaking, don’t pressure wash the organic growth from your porch, just mop it away with a 50/50 solution of bleach and water along with a squirt of Dawn dish soap then rinse with a garden hose. Thank you for the video! I’ll have to get some of that paint.
Do you think the pressure washing will remove the paint? Just mop as good as you can to avoid damaging your hard work. Tell how it went.
Is the tree still there?
What kind of banana tree is it?
Oh dear. I dug mine up and let them dry out with clay stuck all over them for two weeks. Ummmmm...
Should be fine to wash and dry before storage. Just make sure they didn’t rot
what temperature outside did you use uncovered it?
We wait until all danger of frost has passed. That’s mid May for us
did u cover the temperature outside when to winterize them ?
great job
I watched video's (1 & 2) both of them were very helpful, I'm going to the home Depot tomorrow to get what I need to save my Banana trees!! ❤❤❤ Thank you for posting step by step!
Your welcome
Wish my wife would fix my mistakes. Calls me destructo. Nice video. Gonna try it in my garage . My car is a weekend warrior.
Are you in a northern climate with snow and ice and extreme temperatures?
I think you should garden in a skirt
We planted our baby blue spruce 4 month ago. Watered everyday. How much do you water now that the tree is a few months old?
What if they grow in pots, should I do the same?
Thank you ,great video.
Thank you
Could I use grass clippings?
Hello can you please do a video with an update on this evergreen?
WHAT did you use to CLEAN it before you taped it off? I'd be afraid the whole thing would just keep peeling. (Past trauma).
Myrick acid. Give it a couple days to dry before you apply
It's amazing, glad to found your channel i just subscribe, thanks
Glad I found your video! All the negative comments had me leary of this product. After seeing you refinish your porch I know now those other folks probably did not prepare there surface like you did. Thank you because the porch and walk way will be done soon. Great vid!!!
I don't know. I have read many bad reviews of this product and some say they followed exact instructions. I had also read that it doesn't cover well on some areas, much less than what it says it does and you will need a lot a more product than with paint and it is already a pretty expensive product. I love the look but I am not that confident in the performance and the yielding.
Has it fruited?
What’s in the container?
How big is this tree now that it's two years later?
How far from my fence.... (well.... its a corner of my backyard where two fences meet at 90 degrees) should I plant this tree from the corner?? Thank you in advance
You’ll have to read the tag. This one is a dwarf variety and I still want it to have at least 5 feet on either side
@@gardeningwithme7690 ok cool. Thanks a lot
This is great news! I look forward to seeing you at the market and buying some of your beautiful flowers. The classes sound like fun too! Good luck!
Thank you so much. I’m pretty excited. I’ll be glad when I get all of these raised beds built and filled. I have 3 more to build. Then I get to move on to the fun part. I look forward to seeing you there as well
Good luck with your new venture! Hope you sell lots of bouquets this season!
Thank you very much. I’m really excited about being surrounded by flowers. Still working on the hard part, building raises beds and filling with soil, but I’m almost finished
Nvm it came out good
You suck
I wondered what you were constructing. I can see them on my walk. Great idea.
Tnx Debra
You are so ambitious. I see the new frames for your beds going in when I walk. Looking good!
Thank you. Not sure if I told you or not but I’m starting a flower farm. I’ll be selling bouquets at farmers markets and locally. I’m pretty excited (a nice reason to buy more plants 😄)
Awesome! Did you tarp over your mulch pile also to keep rain and snow out? Or just left it after mulching with leaves?
We did not tarp but a friend of mine does. It’s prob a good idea
@@gardeningwithme7690 awesome. Thanks for reply!
So beautiful.
Thank you 😊
I cut mine back and mulched. Now that is April I have 2 pups that have sprouted but my big stock is still brown.i paid $60 for my tree. Do I need to trim it or anything or what should I do?
What zone do you live in? If you have uncovered it then you will need to protect it if the weather gets cold. You can cut the brown as long as the root is still alive it will bounce back
@@gardeningwithme7690 im in zone 6.just last week I raked half my much out. I'm new to having banana trees. I left about a 3 inch stalk above ground.
