I’ve always seen the posters of the movie but never saw nor knew about the plot twist. So 3 days ago I finally got to see it and I was able to predict that Tylor and the narrator were the same person. I’ve seen a couple of anime with plot twists and others that are psychological thrillers that definitely helped me pay attention to small details. The first hint was the 4 blimps of Tylor and how they completely stopped once we fully “met” him. Hint two was with the chick. She asked Tylor who he was talking too as if she didn’t know the narrator lived in the same house. And how Tylor kept telling the narrator to not talk about him to her. What sealed the deal for me was that scene when the narrator was talking with the woman and he all of a sudden heard construction noise in the basement only to find Tylor and the noise went away then he began to mimic Tylor word for word. Yeah the plot twist was amazing but I was jumping from excitement for figuring it out too 😅.

This story is partially based on the REAL story of George Stinney who was 14 years old when he was electrocuted for the murder of 2 White girls he was more than likely innocent of. He was questioned without a parent, whom he wasn’t allowed to see but once in total & only after the trial, that one time due to threats of lynching. Between jury selection & his verdict being read it all added up to a few hours, as the attorney they gave him called no witnesses, didn’t cross-examine their testimony & in all didn’t advocate for his client. Within 80 something days from the discovery of the girl’s bodies he was electrocuted (in the 40’s.) He was posthumously exonerated in like 2014 or 2018 maybe. Just a kid, alone and scared.

I found this movie utterly depressingly predictable the, so called, reveal of “what’s in the box” was never in question. There was an easily identifiable direction that Brad Pitt’s character was going on from the beginning. I kept waiting for the event that would change the direction of the narrative but it never came. If it was a book it wouldn’t qualify as a novel; it is more of a long essay. This is a very, very unpleasant film with no redeeming feature. Sadistically gloating over the murders. I saw it in the late 90s when it first came out on VHS (Blockbusters) and have never wanted to see it again since.

If anyone needs some acting inspiration to cry like a baby on set- this is the movie I think of. This scene KILLS me- subtly. All the emotion Tom Hanks has in a matter of a minute of dialogue with Jenny is insane. Joy, relief, forgiveness, surprise, confusion, afraid, love, bewilderment, dread, scared, heartbroken, guilt, regret, excitement. It’s written all over his face. He deserves an academy award tick in a plaque every time someone watches this movie. This will forever be one of my all time favorite movies of all time. I’ve never cried out of anger, fear, and joy in the same breadth in a movie before this- and I doubt I ever will again. This movie is a masterpiece- and this scene sums up EVERYTHING about how life is at all times. Forrest was never stupid. He lived it all. But he never really lived it all at once- until Jenny told him he had a family. Do I think Jenny was wrong 90% of the movie? Yes. But this isn’t her story. It’s Forrest’s story about his daddy by his daddy Forrest Gump.

It was a class film. Just perfectly done. I was so glad to enjoy it without it being spoiled. I remeber when it was released somone went around UCD in Dublin putting up posters saying Bruce Willis is the ghost. Noooooooo.

What made it all work was because of a thing we call a "Unreliable Narrator". Everything we saw was told from Verbal's perspective. So, those last scene where the whole gang ended up being killed and we are shown it couldn't have been Verbal because he was not there, was all BS in his part. In reality, the moment they started the raid and Keaton left Verbal, he started killing them off one by one.

After the first clip I thought to myself. He said you saved generations and I thought "no" He saved the while world. If you save only 1 life you basically save humanity. Well after the 3rd or 4rth clip I realised he basically said it already but its 100% true if you think about it

This is weird to watch because I watched the original years ago as a child so…this is old news to me. 😅 I forget not everybody knows this twist.

Yes Jenny was wrong to keep running away like that, its okay to be upset with her for that, but god damn some of you, give her a break people! Calling her some evil, selfish villain, manipulating the Innocent Forrest? Thats what she thought about herself trying to get into a relationship with him, which is WHY she ran. Remember "We accept the love we think we deserve" from Perks of Being a Wallflower? Shes been abused since a baby, she doesnt want to bring him into that trauma, she feels like she would be dragging him down. As for her baby, it would be impossible to contact Forrest while hes running, plus shes now a single working mother with a million responsibilities, but then even afterwards shed likely be wrestling AGAIN with the idea of dragging him into something he shouldnt be responsible for. "He has the right to know, but he shouldnt have to worry about this". Then, once she DOES let him know, the first thing she says is "you dont have to do anything, you did nothing wrong" absolving him of any responsibility for what happened. She meant well, of course it didnt work out well, but she realised that and tried to make it up as best she could with what little time she had left.

Is this people see this in the theater when this movie just come out, they will go full tears in the whole thing and change their life forever... This generation cant stand strong a pure felling like other past generation had it

We watched this movie in highschool, and I started crying at this scene. It hit me so strong and so suddenly I wasn't prepared. I was one of the only people crying, which I think now is ridiculous. I feel like ALL of us should have been crying. I feel like crying again thinking of the genocide happening now, and how we all promised this would never happen again.

Well he was feeling hopeless and so was everyone in the car. They been driving till they are out of gas and still stick in the horror of the mist. Thinking it happen everywhere world wide, they all think death is the only escape. And instead of giving death to the horror of the mist creature and brutality, they opt for death in their own term. A quick dead, fast and little pain. You could see the look of the people in the car agreeing wt his choice (except for the boy). I mean sure they could have wait, but till when. Its the uncertainty of waiting in car wt no way of surviving. Every creature they saw and pass is beyond comprehensible and they have no way to protect themselves. Hope is lost. No prositive outcome even after escaping the supermarket. 2 elderly, and a kid in their group make it harder to survive on foot.
