Insane how this is being done to VETERANS.
The reality is that every insurance sucks. No matter which one you have, you are going to PAY, PAY and keep PAYING, and when it's time to claim, good luck.... At that moment you realize that insurance is more business than insurance. They don't lose and if they don't pay nothing, it's better for them... even if you continue paying too much for your policy.
is there any way you could make a video on the tuning side of it, I cant seem find much on it, or post some screenshots of it?
@@JosiahRedmond I'm trying to work on that. Sorry, life's been rather hectic.
Appreciate the video! I’ve been wanting to set my fog lights to come on with my DRLs and low beams. Might try this approach minus the high beam. Maybe using the wiring below the box. BTW in my experience the fog light wiring and sockets on these are prone to burning up. After replacing my sockets I’m running LED fog light bulbs and it lowers the current draw.

A couple of years ago, I had a hail damage claim filed with USAA. I've been with USAA for over 50 + years and had good experience with them. However the shop I was using told me they had been a preferred USAA repair facility but that they, the repair facility, had dropped USAA because they had gotten difficult to deal with. USAA wouldn't answer their phone or return voice messages. They no longer liked dealing with them. I've been shopping for a new bank and insurance company. Banking has gone down hill as well.
Similar story here. I’ll make a video someday. You can get an operator on phone by pressing 0 many times. The operator told me outright “the company is not what it used to be. “. Then my new claims agent, who has been as helpful as he can be, basically told me the company tried to commit state fraud on me, and he verified it with another company and the DMV. I went to DMV and verified it too. So, if you have this company only keep liability only, not full coverage!!!! If you have to file a claim, hire an expert to evaluate thing before you do. When the employees turn against the company, it won’t be in business much longer. Solomon Smith Barney company went out of business in a matter of days because of cheating people. Inflation is forcing insurance companies to change but to mislead and deceive “members” is illegal fraud and is not sustainable.
Do not use USAA. They don’t care one bit about Veterans but they put on one hell of a show to pretend like they do. My wife and I used them for over 25 years until recently. We were in an accident that wasn’t our fault and now we are forced to pay the remaining $30k on a totaled car because they cancelled our insurance the month before without us even knowing. Trust me, use anyone but them.
Thank you, for this video, i will never do business with USAA.
I need to do this to my 2007 Chevy Suburban 2500 also. Can I use any harness from a Tahoe, 1500 Suburban, Escalade, GMC Yukon? I've watched other videos and the computer harnesses look different from my 2500 Suburban. I sent you an email too if that makes this easier.
@@JoelHiddema I got a "forward" harness from a Tahoe. I've been told it's the same across SUV's, but I've not verified that. This harness does not go to the computer. It goes to the fuse panel. I have an under drive pulley ordered for the alternator to see if it will speed it up. My problem only happens while idling in traffic.

I was with USAA for 26 years before I ever filed my first claim (renter's insurance). They didn't pay a penny, and I had an environmental expert complete an entire report, documenting that there was a total loss of the contents due to a neighbor's HVAC condensation line blocking and causing a water event that flooded both of our units. They are the WORST company. Wayne Peacock has destroyed USAA. Just like you said, you gain NOTHING but a total ordeal dealing with them.
disagree with your tale entirely on usaa. ive had two claims in the last year and a half, one car one home and it was a breeze. my car was totaled they gave me a 1000 dollar credit to pay for my rental car. when i went to buy a new car they told me to call them when i was ready to buy. found a car and called them they wired the money directly to the dealership in about 10 mins and the amount was more then fair market value for the car home insurance claim. they gave me a check for 50k to fix the home which was more then my gc quoted to fix the damage. they also paid me my lost rent for every month the house was vacant for repairs
There are far less people that have good experiences than people with bad experiences. You might live with a state with more strict insurance laws. They don't do anything here.
I just opened a usaa bank account because I wanted insurance with them as well. Thought I’d do everything in one spot. Glad I looked in to it before switching insurance. I know they used to be top notch. After talking with several friends in body and auto shops, I hear nothing good anymore.
USAA banking is probably the best bank I've ever used. 100% worth using them for the banking. Their insurance is all 3rd party. They are basically just a broker. More to it than that, but that is the basic idea. It's totally useless. In looking for other insurance, they are all virtually useless.

I have a credit card account with USAA but I didn't want their car insurance, mainly because they were located outside of Arkansas. So I chose State Farm because they have an office here in town. The reason I didn't want my car insurance from an out of town company is because if I ever needed to file a claim, I wanted to be able to physically go to the company with my claim and not have to go through the hassle of dealing with a claim over the phone. I have no complaints about State Farm whatsoever and just like a good neighbor, they have been fair and reasonable. I'm not trying to get into your business or tell you what to do backyarddoall. But even though your two vehicles are General Motors products, the parts may not be interchangeable because they are two different types of vehicles. One being a luxury type and the other one is not. And just like you, I try to save money whenever I can, but when it comes to repairs or routine maintenance for my 2010 Caddy DTS, I don't do the shade tree mechanic thing. It always go to the Caddy dealership, or any dealership, except independent car dealers, that work on Caddys. My Caddy is going on 14 years, it has 64,500 plus miles on it, it rides much better than those new "baby Caddies" and because of professional maintenance and lots of tender loving care, it's in excellent condition and it looks like new too. Your vehicle is 20 plus years old and it sounds like it's seen it's best days with all those problems. If I were you, I would trade it, sell it or do whatever you have to do but make your wife happy again and find her something else nice to drive, my man!
Just try using their credit cards. Never again. Their useless.
I've actually been incredibly satisfied with their banking. Only problems stem from their auto insurance.
My issue is they make themselves out to be veteran friendly with special benefits, when their no better than any other credit card company, and worse than many. My home and auto are with AAA. I wouldn't recommend them either. @@backyarddoall

My rate has gone from $165/mo to $298/mo for two older vehicles in the past two years with no claims. I got stuck at work a few weeks ago, the water pump locked up and shreaded the belt. I had the parts in the truck because I was planning on replacing them the next day. Asked for a tow to my house. I sat in my freezing truck for four hours while tow company after tow company denied the tow. Finally a Marine Veteran got the call and actually drove an hour to pick up my truck and drive me 50 miles home. I'm sure my rate will go over $400 now.
I have a buddy that owns a wrecker company. I typically prefer to just handle that outside of insurance. They like to rub your nose in it every time you use what you pay for.
If tow company after tow company is denying USAA, that tells me that USAA isn't paying them fairly. USAA is probably screwing over every company they deal with, not just their own paying members.
Sadly, this is par for the course with every insurance company. I work with body shops across three states in the south, and I can tell you horror stories from every single one of them, whether it be from the shop's perspective, the policy holder's perspective, or my perspective. Insurance, as an industry, is outright racketeering, and the fact that there are still no enforceable regulations is nothing short of a travesty. I'm sorry you've had such a bad experience. Filing and fulfilling a claim is a stressful nightmare. That truck, however, is worth whatever it takes to keep on the road! They're not entirely without issues, but they're cheap and easy to work on, parts are (for the most part) readily available, and they're incredibly reliable when cared for! Wishing you all the best, thank you for taking the time to tell your story!
Thank you sir. One way another, this truck will be back on the road.
I had the same expierience with USAA. You just can't get ahold of the Mother fers. Then they lie and try to low ball the shops. They suck and they are $$$$$
The part that upset me the most is them blaming the shop, when I knew full well the shop was doing what they were supposed to do
How did rental company get your credit card?
Have to put a card on file for incidentals.
You're lucky that the rental company didn't report the rental stolen and you would have been proned out on the ground with a gun in your face by an over zealous LEO doing a felony stop.
I've had USAA for 56 years, I do believe there service isn't what it was in the 70's, 80''s, & 90's and the rates have gone up (as with all insurance companies). USAA seemed to change when they started letting enlisted personnel join. We had a good thing going until then when it was just for officers. But I can list just as many horror stories with the other companies as well. When Katrina hit New Orleans State Farm tried to declare bankruptcy to get of of paying for houses and cars.
I've always heard you should shop for insurance periodically. I guess it's true.
I've had USAA for 27 years. My father who is a retired USAF colonel would be disgusted to hear you say that enlisted personnel have been the problem, and he's been with USAA even longer than you. smh USAA didn't flop until Wayne Peacock became CEO in 2020. I filed my first claim ever, in 26 years, in 2021, and I got to see just how Peacock has destroyed the integrity of USAA from the inside out.
Don’t know you and stumbled on your video. I had USAA for auto Insurance for 34 years. Back in my early years they were terrific. Never had an issue. Over the last couple of years they doubled my auto insurance. No reason given, no claims, no accidents, tickets etc. just said cause it’s where I live and I should move, mind you I’ve been where I live my whole life. We dropped them the next day. Bottom line is all insurance companies suck ass and not sure why USAA, who is a member owned company has got so bad, but all insurance company suck and need to be reformed. It’s BS! Sorry for your issues and hope you find some recourse.
Had the same experience with 21st Century. Been with them for over 15+ years. No accidents, no claims. One day, they tell me they would NOT cover me anymore. I'm in Atlanta, GA. So I switched to USAA. No complains ... yet.
Mine doubled over 1.5 yrs
I've only been with USAA for 26 years, and I thought they were great until I filed my first claim in 2021 (renter's insurance). They've been a total, sociopathic nightmare from start to finish, despite the fact that I paid an environmental specialist to conduct tests and produce a report saying the contents of my unit were a total loss. USAA will do *anything* and say *anything* to try and wear you down so you give up or so the statute of limitations passes.
Had my truck stolen while I had USAA. It was recovered, and they wanted to fix it at first. They took it from shop to copart and back to another shop before totaling it out. It took a total of 3 months just to get it totaled out. Another 2 months went by before they paid me, and they low balled the piss out of me. I tried to send them comparables to show them the truck was worth 50% more than what they offered, and they said because I used comparables from too far away, they couldn’t use them in their evaluation. But when I looked at their evaluation, they used ONLY comparables from out of state and shop quotes, all of which were out of date. Being from alaska, everything is more expensive up here, including vehicles, and with so little people, it’s impossible to find good comparables in the area unless you have an extremely common vehicle.
Not only that, but while dealing with them in the middle of my truck being stolen, they doubled my insurance rates for basic coverage + comprehensive, rising from $198 to $406, because of 3 tickets from over 2 and a half years ago. I have a new truck now and am insured with state farm, paying $149 a month for full coverage. Although not in the military myself, I feel for all of those who go overseas to serve their country just to get f*cked by insurance. Such a scam.
Similar to what happened on my first claim. They kept telling me that my truck was only worth $2000. All their comparables were destroyed, rusted out, junk.
@@backyarddoall Same thing happened to me. The reason their premiums are lower is because their claim reimbursements are lower and their policy language allows for it. As soon as I took legal action against them they dropped me which is fine I was going to drop them anyway. I also won legal battle which apparently they did not expect me to challenge them legally
USAA does suck, one of their clients backed in to me last year while I was driving my father n laws car and they took months to respond. His insurance co. had to threaten to fix his car and send them the bill. Also had to threaten to report them to my states insurance regulation board or whatever they called it. They get in a lot of trouble if your report them to the state and makes them look really bad. Dads had nationwide for over 50 years and I stayed with them since he died, but just recently it took them 3 months just to give me a quote on a house I wanted to buy.... My sisters had geico of for years and says they have been cheap and great service. Damage from insects, vermin, and rodents is excluded in the USAA auto contract. I guess they figure that if you have rats in your car - you must have done something to attract them there. This vehicle was not made with soy-based plastic wiring so there must have been some food left inside the vehicle and it attracted a rodent. Most of the time this happens with vehicles left in a barn and the rodents find there way in there or you left you windows down / door open in an area with rodents. Either way, this isn't something the auto insurance contract is meant to cover. Auto insurance isn't designed to be a catch all for anything that happens to put your vehicle out of commission, especially wiring issues in a 20 year old vehicle. The cost of this repair would def be more than the vehicle is worth... so the best case scenario would have been for them to total it and sell it at auction then cut you a very small check. That claim would follow you for five years as well BUT since you called your insurance, that claim will be on your CLUE report and will show up to any company you switch to. Its a zero dollar payout so it isn't a "Chargeable claim" that will surcharge but it can prevent things like "claims free discount" as well as overall rating and you will pay a higher rate at renewal. I can agree they shouldn't have given you a rental car until they knew the claim would be covered & the customer service could be better at explaining it but those are things all insurance companies need to work on. You get luck of the draw when calling any call center and it depends on how knowledgeable that rep is. How would you have responded in that moment if the first rep had told you that you were wasting your time since it wouldn't be covered? Would that have been any better of an experience? I get the sense you would have wanted to talk to a manager since the first rep "wasn't being helpful" in your mind but in reality a knowledgeable rep could have saved you alot of hassle. Comprehensive is for weather damage, theft damage, or collision with an animal Collision is for a collision with anything other than an animal Anything outside of that is the owners responsibility. Just as you are responsible for changing the oil in your engine, you are required to keep pests away from your vehicle. We must take accountability for our day to day decisions and realize this was a very expensive mistake & learn from it so that it never happens to you or anyone you know again. Best of luck chap
You're wrong about several things. It was covered. I asked specifically. Damage from animals, is covered. Many insurance companies cover rodent damage. This is not my first rodeo with this. During the course of all this, USAA never questioned the legitimacy of the claim. Wherever you got this information, it was wrong. The main issue stemmed from noone answering phones and not being able to get anyone to communicate. I pulled parts off another truck to do diagnostics (I need to be able to put the other truck back together), and the rep actually started yelling at me, about the owner supplied used parts. The rep kept blaming the shop for not communicating, but nobody ever contacted the shop, until 10 minutes before the rep started yelling at me. This truck is worth far more than everyone thinks. This isn't a $2000 truck. Rust free southern trucks bring a chunk more than stuff from the rust belt. While looking for a replacement, the only one in similar condition was $10,500 and sold the day after I found it. You also need to listen to me saying this was not my first experience of this type, with USAA. I gave them the benefit of the doubt the first time. There won't be a third time.
@@backyarddoall man that is a good looking Tahoe, but the jist of the above is correct. repair was going to outweigh the real value of the vehicle. Best case scenario they would have eventually cut you a check for the insurance value of the truck. Soon as you called the insurance to make a claim, that truck was either going away or you withdraw your claim.
@@codyvickers967 There was a possibility of the truck be totalled. That doesn't change anything. Had they totalled it, I would still be getting something out of my money. Instead, they did nothing. Total waste of my time and money.
Yeah, I had the same issue. As did my daughter in the last year. They grew to large to fast and don't have enough money or folks to care about the customers. I dropped them and saved a ton of cash moving to state farm. Also USAA is going to pay out my Subscriber Savings Account that they have been funding for 20 years, so its a significant amount they lost from me alone. I am recommending everyone I got to join USAA, leave USAA. And its a lot. They need to fail and the CEO Wayne needs to step down in shame as does the insurance president Randy Termeer. As a matter a fact. Randy is on LinkedIn. Everyone should start messaging him that they are messing up. He will either have to fix it or get rid of his LinkedIn.
I've never had USSA insurance however, I'm not gonna be with a company that exploits veterans for profit. Also, by the way anyone can get insurance with them, they're full of chit!
I have USAA and am grateful. 💯 seven years ago. I told my State Farm agent that I’m canceling. He asked “who are you going with“and I said USAA. He said good for you. I can’t touch their coverage. Good luck.
Already have better insurance. Didn't have to look more than a day. USAA doesn't offer that much compared to other companies. If they won't honor their agreements, they are worthless
7 years ago USAA was solid. Heck 3 years ago they were solid. However if you need the insurance you are paying for with them good luck. @backyarddoall is not the only one having issues. Its systematic.
I've been with USAA for 26 years, and since 2020, it has been a TOTAL NIGHTMARE. Yes, USAA was a good company *once upon a time* but not since 2020. They have several class-action lawsuits.
