After a diagnosis of MS landed on my lap, this channel became a way to leave a legacy
while I'm still mobile and able to communicate clearly.
I'm not in this for fame or money, but I do share in the revenue youtube makes from my content.
My original plan was to leave a legacy for both my daughters - for a future time where I'm no longer able to communicate these things to them.
Sometimes a complicated past gets in the way of the present, so one can only plan for the future.

Rooftop tent tutorial - A collaboration with Peter Middo
Recently I had a fellow youtuber and fan, @petermiddo down to drive some land rovers and do some general content, this is a collaboration, and a demo of rooftop tents.

The blue wire is your IDE PIn...laptop coms to psu to confirm psu wattage correct before laptop accepts charge....basically OEM ball ache if the IDE chip fails or DELL fails....cause i can't use a basic 2 wire DC jack even with correct Voltage and Amperage.
@@alfredlangmann4644 yeah I gathered it was something like that
"That'll be $370"
@@Seekeroftruth806 nah I didn't charge for this. I'm not in business anymore, but owner did shout me a free meal.
Donations and Deliveries is ok its a good time waster😉😉 But please nail clipping thats a whole different level i think we can live with out in the future 🤔
@@rangieman lol I don't understand some people's aversion to that. Then again, I'm led to beleive, not everyone cleans under their nails like I do.
Solvol is still made , bunnings sell it
@@prospectorpete only the liquid stuff, that is in my opionion not as good. I use the gritmits blocks, they get stuff off the liquid just doesnt
I dont know why you're continuously blaming the landy for being difficult . Its the army who modified it
technically it was Jaguar-Rover Australia, under contract for the military, but yeah it is a good case of "be careful what you wish for". in my specific case though, the difficulty is that I have Multiple Sclerosis.
damn that boring ;p, nice video tho
@@RaphaelSwinkels yeah i agree lol
Old school
well the vehicle was made in the 80's, for the military...
I have the same problem and have been trying to find a solution when i found this video, still trying to find a solution, hopefully someone finds a way. Glhf
there is now a 5 port unit available designed to specifically do what I want, but I have since used the pi5 for the media center in my 6x6 ambulance, and solved the bottleneck on the pi4 server, so I'm getting roughly 100mb/sec write to the drives. I can't really ask much more than that on SMR drives. Next attempt I'm probably going to just bite the bullet and get a CM4 module and interface board and use a "normal" sata card.
Slow asf
well the thing weighs 5 tons, what do you expect?
definately not a 4090, that looks to have 3x8 pin plugs, the RTX cards have 12 pin plugs
Good to know, I'll stumble across one someday. what I do know to look for is melted power pins.
I'm slowly learning that everyone who has a rooftop tent, does so, because they don't know how to comfortably use normal tents lmao
@@ActualSurvivalist I have MS, kids, and a 6x6 ex mil ambulance set up as a camper. Laying at ground level is no longer an option for me. I've done my time in the army in tents, hammocks, stretchers and piles of grass.
That smile never went away, either! (And it turned out to be closer to a month!)
Loved our RTT atop our No. 5 Only problem was once after a 30km walk our feet were so sore we could barely climb the ladder 😂😂😂😂
@@Pyjamarama11 yeah I wear bata industrial mining boots. Have had trench foot before.
That's cool
Yes, it really was.
Good job
The girls are going to love it! Way to go, dude.
So that not may not have been a factory knot. That may have been a Middo knot.... (If you can't tie knots, tie lots.) Also, I have small end of those carabiners on the end of my ropes and put the wide end through the loops of my tent or awning. This allows them to sit in the tabs better. Then I clip (setup) and unclip the carabiner from the tent (or awning) and roll them with the rope. You clip them to the tab of whatever each time and take up minimal room in the rope bag.
With my limited dexterity, I find it hard to get them through the loops, so I leave them attached to the tent, to make it easier to locate the attachment point.
Or you can float like the rest of us.
@@worldgate989 this isn't a heavy rig, it's a 6x6 ex military land rover, and sure you can float them on the straight and flat. This is a how-to, not a you-should. The things people read into this are very telling.
@@TheAussieRepairGuy All i see is the interior but when i drove rigs, we floated, except in traffic where my legs got a work out. :D
@@worldgate989 well I've had to answer this many times as this short is on track for half a million views, do I made a follow up: th-cam.com/users/shortsw-WnvUpkxLI?si=KUkDwIiTu83s-ADF
@@TheAussieRepairGuy I actually sort of asked in a tongue-in-cheek way, not to be a troll but more like, how you ask if 'this system plays crysis' way.
@@worldgate989 yeah i get that, I've had many that do not. The 4 speed box has sone huge jumps between ratios, and thd synchros in these even from new are only there in spirit, when getting through the short trafgic lights and in town, you don't always have thd luxury of a runup, or time. They need a littke help. I have a 4x4 with same engine and gearbox, I barely use the clutch: th-cam.com/users/shorts4tAtXPOvqOc?feature=share
Can you fit an R380 gearbox in the 6x6?
yes and people often do, they still use an LT95 gearbox with a pto drive for the 3rd axle. However the Isuzu 4bd1t tends to eat them for lunch.
@@TheAussieRepairGuy I was wondering how to get that 5th gear for highway speeds 🤔
@@davemangle6448 many people have, fairy overdrive maybe, it already uses 30l/100km Im keen to take my time
Thanks for the shoutout!
@@GritMitts always welcome.
Not something, everything
No only about half of them.
Wtf double cluckes...
People that drive a 5 ton 6x6
@TheAussieRepairGuy I've driven them there was no need to double clutch. I've driven vehicles over 90 tons never once did I need to double clutch...
@@pieseasmyseas don't do much off-road then. This has a 4 speed box and the synchros even when new are only there in spirit. Come drive it sometime...
@TheAussieRepairGuy I live off road, and I have driven a few unamogs never needed to double clutch. But I did blow the owners mind when I showed him how to flote the gears in it. A real operator doesn't even need a clutch pedal unless it's it 1st at a dead stop or reverse...
@@pieseasmyseas i can slip it in and out of gear without a clutch on the flat, and it's not a unimog.
Yes, exactly the same here
And since it's leather you could easily decorate it to seem even less suspicious
@@The-One-and-Only100 where I get around, nobody seems to care. And I'm a 6'6" bloke in shorts and work boots, my existence is apparently sus.
@TheAussieRepairGuy nope, that sounds like my average Tuesday, but I also wear a mask all the time, so maybe that adds to it
I do the same with jumping spiders and other spiders. ❤ As long as your patient and gentle with them, there is no need to kill spiders. Besides they help control the damn pesky flies
What's the mileage on one of these old things
with the ambo it's very heavy and has the turbo isuzu 4bd1t - about 30L/100km - the 4x4 with the naturally aspirated 4bd1 is about 12-15L/100km
Pardon my American. But what is this? Front end looks like a Range Rover.
Land Rover Perentie - the same 6x6 and 4x4 you saw in previous videos. this is a clip from a longer video. th-cam.com/video/0s2F1xevFTo/w-d-xo.html
for additional context - these are ex-defence land rovers that have been used in service. They were part of "Project Perentie" that was an initiative to replace the aging fleet of utility vehicles for the ADF in the early 80's They get referred to as "perentie" after the Australian lizard that is adaptable to many terrains and has the greatest stamina of all australian lizards - this ties in with the project goal of making a vehicle with the range to cross the country.
@@TheAussieRepairGuy in the US mostly veterans only get to purchase these.
@@RabbiJesus These go to auction, anyone can bid on them - however I am ex-reservist.
That's wild
I don’t believe in false positives for viruses.
I'm gonna have to go back and work out what part of the video you are making reference to.
@@TheAussieRepairGuy when you were installing the drivers. One came up with a virus.
@@RabbiJesus Yeah I've written code that was non-malicious that has been detected as a virus before - it's more commands and memory calls that you make. if you access memory in a certain way that looks sus to a virus scanner.
So you don't believe in false negatives, either, right?
@@TheAussieRepairGuy that’s your code. You know what’s in there. Something from the public I would never trust.
I used to love stuff like this. I lived in a micro apartment and didn’t have room for a TV and computer. Thus a TV tuner card was the solution.
This is my type of content! That USB connection sound was a beautiful sound, going to pull apart some TVs after this.
@@asdasdaee2232 lol I really can't predict what is going to be popular lol. This is my idea of a low effort video.

2 different oil filters ?? its different.
@@davidrawles5732 the 6x6 had the 4bd1t - turbo. It has a standard and also bypass filter to deal with the oil feed to the turbo. The naturally aspirated version has a single oil filter
Thanks for your informative video, I’m very interested in where you got your oil filter wrench from? I can’t wait for the next video
the oil filter wrench I think was a cheap one from supercheap auto a few years back. ... maybe 20. used to live in the kit for my nissan xtrail.
