The stropping process is a step before polishing, which I didn’t show in the video. I only stropped both sides of the surface once to remove the remaining metal burrs. The liquid you saw me applying is a type of metal brightener that improves the polishing and finishing process. As for the black rotating surface, nothing is glued to it; it’s just a piece of walnut wood used for the final polishing and brightening of the metal surface, and it works really well.

The sanding belt lasts for a very long time, as long as you don’t use it at excessively high speeds. It’s really cost-effective, especially when you compare the time it takes to make it with how much work it can do for you. Additionally, the way you attach the sanding belt is very important. If your drill spins to the right, you need to attach the belt in the opposite direction of how I attached it. If it spins to the left, you can attach it the same way I did. By following this and ensuring the correct orientation of the sanding belt, you’ll get excellent durability from it.

This is a type of sports foam, and I cut a piece of it for this project. There are several types of foam; this one is more compressed-not too hard and stiff, and not too soft or overly bouncy either. It’s specifically the kind of foam used for gym step boards (commonly called a sports step board), and I used one of its layers. For the glue, I used an all-purpose yellow glue, which is often used in shoemaking. I heated it with a flame because it’s winter now, and the glue was taking too long to dry. The flame sped up the drying process. It’s a single-component glue, not a two-component one. I hope this helps and that you can use it for your project.
