Here is proof that the'85 defense was the best: the defense outscored the opponent's offense during the playoffs.

The 1985 Bears were ridiculous! I was a Miami Dolphins fan, I would have liked to see the Dolphins play them in the Super Bowl, but New England beat us.....they were totally overmatched.

The 1974,75,78,79 Pittsburgh Steelers has a even more better defense.4 Super Bowls in 6 seasons. They were 14-4 in the playoffs from 1972-79.

TO BAD SINGLETARY CAN'T BE THE BEARS DEFENSIVE COACH NOW. IF HE COULD HE COULD'VE CAME IN AND TAUGHT THEM TO PLAY THE 46 DEFENSE THE GREATEST DEFENSE EVER. SINGLETARY HAS THE BLUEPRINTS IN HIS BRIEF CASE HE CARRYS. REST IN PARADISE BUDDY GREATEST DEFENSIVE COACH EVER.

The rage that defense played with is still unmatched. It was all pride, guts and ego for that team. The way they came into the Super Bowl and steamrolled through the Pats is just... unreal. Had they not taken their starters out and kept going at it, it would have been three straight shutouts. Greatest defense and team by far.

I don’t know about the greatest team in history ? Alots of other legendary teams might have something to say about, I would say one of most memorable teams , but they did lose one game to Danny Marino that year 😮😢 a Monday night game away from home and they look very mortal in that game 😮😢

  • @Maher-ub6vu

One of the few great teams in history that knew how great they were in the moment, and enjoyed it which is a blessing. So many reflect back and "Wish" they enjoyed the moment, that team enjoyed the moment. Shame they didn't win the appropriate number of championships... All because they had what Jimmy and Jerry had in Dallas, leaders with huge Ego that had to get all the credit.... That's what ultimately made the Patriots a long lasting dynasty, Kraft was humble enough to stay out of the way, even though he was/is one of the top 5 owners in sports history. This is coming from a Dolphin fan, so not biased, just honest opinions.

As a life-long Vikings fan I hated that era. Chicago was so dominant over about a 5-year period. They really should’ve had at least one other, if not a third, Super Bowl with that core group.

I am a loyal Bears fan to the core, though I’m still frustrated the organization could only get 1 championship out of that incredible team. Belichick kept it together Year after year after year. There’s the difference, leadership. And Ryan was part of the debacle, he was an asshole.

Buddy Ryan was the most overrated NFL coach of all time! He never won a playoff game as a head coach. He would refuse to shake the hand of the opposing coach if he lost the game. The guy had no class, and was a loser.

Dan I have always liked you and still do, but as far as stats maybe the Bears do seem like the greatest defense as you call yourselves but I would not say the greatest ever. You guys won the SB ONE TIME! That does not in my book make you the greatest ever. There have been other teams that have gown to the big game and have gone back again and won. The Bears are one of the only that did it in 1985 but after that king time. Yes you can say the 2006 team but we all know what happen there. IMO the Steelers with the "Steel Curtain" and back to back SB wins like they did are one of the greatest defense's of all time. Just my opinion.

I wouldn't call the '85 Bears the greatest team in NFL history because they did have one loss against the Dolphins. Now if they would've went undefeated that year, then they'd have a stronger argument. But with all due respect, their defense was one of the very best I've ever seen in my time. They were SO DOMINATE. UNBELIEVABLE.

That was the greatest defense to play the game. They played hard every down. The Steelers in the 70s are second and Ravens in their run third. We don’t see these types of defenses now because the NFL wants offense and bent the rules that way.
