I was recently asked by one of my subscribers how much money I made this year on TH-cam so I thought why not open my books to you and show you behind the computer just how much youtube pays me. I have been a subscriber for about 6 months now. I would like to see more of you getting down and dirty in the flower field. More close-ups of each of the flowers that you grow and any diseases that they have. Also, throw that cute little dog into a couple of videos. People love to see dogs following you around. I'm not a TH-camr but just some ideas trying to help.

    Land is also very expensive in western Washington So we bought land in central/eastern Washington. So I totally understand the not being able to buy land thing. Do you need a specific insurance having a flower farm that you have people come to?

    I just saw your videos for the first time today. And subscribed. Your videos are just so honest. I really appreciate that you don’t sugarcoat your mistakes and disappointments. I have a cut flower farm in central Illinois and am thinking about UPick. Your experience really helps me understand whether it would be feasible at my little farm. Your videos will help me avoid many things that I would not have understood without being 4 years into the operation. Thank you.

    Navigating TH-cam revenue can be frustrating. It feels like there should be a logical cause-and-effect relationship, but it doesn’t seem to work out that way. A big part of how much we earn depends on what advertisers bid on different categories. Some categories can earn significantly more than others, so comparing them isn’t always helpful. I’ve noticed that certain types of videos perform better in terms of revenue-especially those where I discuss specific products or topics. Even if those videos get fewer views, they seem to bring in a bit more income. Interestingly, about 40% of my revenue comes from just two videos that continue to rack up views over time. I’m grateful to have those! I made the decision a while back not to chase the algorithm with clickbait or try to force “viral” content. Instead, I focus on creating the videos I want to make and leaning into what seems to work. Otherwise, the joy of it would disappear for me. I enjoy your videos, and I’m glad to hear you’re sticking with it! I’m excited to see how your new space comes together and following that journey. ❤

    I’m curious if you have ever considered adding a sales channel. Like selling to a few florists. I would think you could get a pretty good price in your area. You could start really small and sell to 2 or 3 once a week. But if each of those shops spent $200 with you every week all season that might help. Just an idea. I have a flower farm and I sell direct to florists and it’s been a really great fit for my farm.

    • @hortonsflowerfarm5098
      @hortonsflowerfarm5098 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have to see if they would like the flowers I sell. Some florists dont like the zinnias bc they are delicate to handle and thats most of what I have. Cosmos too dont have long vase life so they tend not to go for those. What flowers do you sell most to wholesalers?

    • @abundantbloomsflowerfarm
      @abundantbloomsflowerfarm หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hmm. Yes, it depends on the florist. If you are selling to a brick and mortar florists they really like sunflowers, foliage like bupleurum, snapdragons, bells, nigella, yarrow (lots of yarrow), lisianthus, and cosmos. Some florists don’t like cosmos at all bc of the short vase life, and some really like it. It depends on their design style for sure. But sunflowers are a really good one (but not for weddings). Some of them like zinnias and some don’t like them at all. Another hit or miss. But then the opposite is true. Wedding florists love zinnias and cosmos. So it can be tricky.

    I've been watching you for a while now, and I always enjoy a new video as it comes out! Thank you for all you do and sharing your journey with us, I've truly enjoyed it and look forward to what's ahead for you! I'm going to retire from my full-time job and take a dive into starting a u-pick flower patch on our farm. My BIG question to you is how much growing space did you have in New York? I don't want to go too small, and I don't want to go too big. My situation is similar to yours was (I think, not sure where on long island you were located) we're about 20 miles from downtown St Paul, MN, so I there's potential. Thank you!!

    • @hortonsflowerfarm5098
      @hortonsflowerfarm5098 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In one of my other videos I calculated just how many flowers you can get on an acre and the numbers were huge!! A half of an acre is more than enough to handle 75-100 bouquets a week with 20 stems per bouquet. This is also what i would recommend... plant A LOT OF ZINNIAS!!! Like half the farm!! People love them the most, they are easiest to grow, and produce the most stems!!! Half an acre would be probably 8 100 foot rows by 4 feet wide with 4 feet in between each row. With that said you can definitely do less rows if you dont expect to have 75-100 per week. I wish you luck with your new journey! it is definitely hard work but rewarding!!
