Glenn & Carissa`s Adventures

Carissa and I try and get away for weekends every chance we get. Our travels take us everywhere from the Goldfields prospecting for gold, the High Country exploring in our 4 wheel drive or on the beaches fishing...

Carissa had a fantastic couple of days detecting, 7 pickers and 4 species. It was as area we had done a few times. If you new to detecting it really pays to just go slow and take your time. Both of us had walked over that area a few times, as I have said many times, change your settings, change your speed, change your attitude… The gold is there, it’s basically everywhere….
Heat Beads instead of Firewood, great to use when good quality dry wood is hard to find.

I’ve been doing this for years and it’s been an absolutely winner when your away and it’s winter, the ground is damp and there’s hardly a dry pieces of wood to be found….
Carissa finds Gold at Pete’s Subs Day Out near Tarnagulla
มุมมอง 409ปีที่แล้ว
We had a fantastic time at Pete’s Gold Adventures Subs Day Out 5 It was a real privilege to have been able to stand around and have a good chat with Pete, his son Bazza and all the other guests that attended.. Lots of people found gold and even a few ripper relics were uncovered… The highlight for us was the two young kids that won a dolly pot, then went down to the dam and spent hours crushing...

Why we look for tree changes and why they made a groove in tree stumps ?
มุมมอง 3.8Kปีที่แล้ว
Carissa and I always keep a lookout for any tree changes in the goldfields as we’re moving about. Even the colour change can indicate a mineral change in the same species…. That’s why I love Google Earth as a reference when I’m researching areas … The grooves in trees has always fascinated me, if you see them straight instead of angled like in the video it’s normally where they made a rope corr...
Travel Buddy, Pork Ribs in marinade and my secret ingredient… so tender and melt in your mouth…

We made this as a test run for our trip away in a couple of weeks where there’s going to be quite a few people attending and I was hoping to have these as a treat….
Travel Buddy, Sausage and Egg wrap…. Delicious
มุมมอง 104ปีที่แล้ว
Very simple to make and cooks whilst your driving, the eggs you can add in once you’ve stopped after approximately 1 hour and they’ll cook while you prepare the wraps and get plates out.
Out in the Golden Triangle looking for new ground…
มุมมอง 288ปีที่แล้ว
We didn’t find any gold on this trip, most of the time we were cruising around checking out potential areas to come back to… We did find a spot that we will camp there and spend a few days in the future… Just getting out and doing a bit of sight seeing is all part of the fun.
Screw in tent pegs, Home made for under $1 ….. they are fantastic for out in the Gold Fields…
มุมมอง 3.7Kปีที่แล้ว
I came up with this idea as I couldn’t hit in the normal tent pegs in hard ground when we’re out Gold detecting and camping. I looked at some of the others on the market and decided to make my own that are stronger and will handle the extremely dry, hard terrain…
Small Dolly Pot, Home made for under $10, light weight and easy to pack away on trips.
มุมมอง 113ปีที่แล้ว
I made this for taking away with us as it’s very compact and easy to use… for under $10 it’s a absolute ripper..

Seems like all the dirt in Australia is hard as rock.
@@kevinthompson629 In Victoria it is very solid ground and the bedrock can be near impossible to dig through with hand tools whilst detecting…. We do have lots of fairly easier ground but it’s less productive.
Good to see you guys back on the dirt..
Thanks Paul
My plumber buddy with expensive red tools makes fun of my ryobi kit... some us don't bleed money & like to fix & build--to innovate--& still be able to eat. Not a ryobi rep, but they served me ok as they seem to here
Was pricing ice screws at the local camping retailer for a tarp setup for 0°, 8k', 100+mph winds/heavy (2'+/day), & realized I can diy 50 pegs for the price of one... thanks for your help & thoughts. Ryobi boys on it
I will stand corrected but fossicking is limited to within 50 m of the creek on either side of the creek? You are in a national park so no metal detecting? Disturbing flora like that is surly a no no in any national park?
Tent pegs? Screw that! ; ) Great idea. The funny thing is, I found your video by google, after I saw some very expensive screw Tent pegs marketed to Coarse Fishermen here in the UK. When I looked at them a bit closer I could see they were very clearly just decking screws with a plastic T handle injection molded over the head. Fifty quid for a dozen. Someone is laughing their backside off all the way to the bank. So I came online to see who was doing it the DIY way. Happy Camping. :)
I just saw a video of some plastic orange screw in tent stake. 25 bucks for two. That should be a crime. I like your idea. Should last a lifetime. Too many spendy do dads are being sold. As humans we love our stuff. LOL
Currently at eldorado. Any chance on sharing the area to dig for the crystals?
Good work guys.
Great tip!!...happy camping!
You running the dd coil or normal coil and what settings you running mate
Great idea! Thanks for sharing
Looks great..didn’t need to see Glenn in the spa though…😂😂😂 Enjoy legends!!
Was good to have breakfast with you guys on one morning.
Thanks for that, we are back on the Luminosa this weekend for another Cruise.
Nice work guys, done well on the gold and the new van looks the goods. Catch you on your next adventure. Cheers Pete
The new van will certainly cut out that set up time from your camper trailer, well done guys, nice little hoard of gold there also Carissa..
This years collection is growing,
Still getting gold from that spot....awesome...Well done on the new setup.....the other one was also awesome but this one is just easy....Great work legends.
Nice bits of Yellow there Carissa and great looking van too guys, gotta have comforts while out in the harsh Goldfield's
Nice. we done a Mediterranean cruise about 10 years ago. Planning another couple in the coming years.
Thanks, we’re heading off on another one next week.
Looks like you both had fun...Now back to detecting... See you out there
Hi mate, we were back out at our usual spot (you know where) last weekend and Carissa found a few pieces. I’ll put up a video tomorrow night…. Next week we’re off on another cruise as they gave us a deal we couldn’t refuse. Hopefully we can catch up again shortly.
1:40.....this tree has been ring barked...it was to show boundries of leases and also kill the tree to get firewood .....
thanks mate thats a real insight to how the way things worked on the gold fields
"PromoSM" 😣
“Can’t see anything visually”. ???? Is there any other way to see?
WELL IVE BEEN RETIRED FOR 35 YEARS , STUCK IN CANADA AND WANNA SWING A DETECTOR . WHILE I CAN STILL WALK SO I WISH ONE DAY EH
Merry Christmas Glenn and Clarissa wish you well
I love that setup
thanks. i made it so i can do quick cleanups at home...
Nice work guys, another great weekend out bush, nice weigh up and you just don't know how much species can be hiding. Good luck on your next hunt. Cheers Pete
Thanks Pete, as you know how much is involved in trying to capture everything. 11 pieces and all live digs,,,, thankfully the lead to gold was only 3 to 1
Good stuff! What's more tiring, filming or detecting? ;)
Both are very tiresome at times… due to a severe hand injury I cannot detect/dig anymore so Carissa does all the hard work and I try and film as much as I can.
Cool finds. been a while since I have been over in Victoria, but with my son moving there I guess I will be spending some time in the bush with him as well as spending time with the grandchildren. Oh and I have found most of my gold in Victoria.
The Victorian Goldfields are still producing the goods, still lots to be found. Good luck for when you come over.
We have just purchased one of the pod coffee machines at last for our trips away detecting. ❤
We love ours, it’s a nice spoil to have a well made coffee.
Nice simple idea
We’re just watching your fishing one.
That’s so sad about your dog.
@@GlennCarissasAdventures-qs4hi yes it is He’s resting peacefully now
Great gold guys😊
Thanks, it was a great weekend.
Wow kids great😮😊❤
I love a good storm! You guys did real well and it looks like you didn’t have to venture too far away from the camp.👍👍 Pete really puts on a great event! I might catch you at the next one! thanks for sharing guys!
It was our first at Pete’s day out and we will definitely be there next year. The storm was ridiculously loud and so spectacular…. All for free. lol Look forward to hopefully catching up with you..
Well deserved after the weather gods arrived
Thanks, it was a fantastic weekend and the storm was brief and so spectacular.
As a backyard griller myself, great video. You showed us your recipe and What you used and this is exactly the type of video us BBQ guys like. Im always curious to how some other people do there bbq. Sending good vibes from Southern Maryland, USA!
Awesome! Thank you!
Great video Thank you 🙏🏻
My pleasure!
That tree was probably ring barked rather than used as part of a mechanism? Love the bush you are living a good life.
I was thinking the same It looks like it's been ring barked I've seen whole forests of ring barked dead trees
cuts in trees like that i showed are mainly found in the Victorian areas they were digging. In the gold rush times not a tree was to be found for miles as they were cut down to build structures or firewood... that tree was purposely cut at that height and the groove angled down to stop the rope sliding down as the tree type is extremely smooth... I have other videos showing this and other reasons why they did it.. I hope that helps and thanks for the reply...
@@GlennCarissasAdventures-qs4hi Thanks for the info that makes sense.
@@PoshLifeforME I still reckon it's been ring barked It could've been ring barked because of the fork in it's stem and the angle of the cut may have also been because of the forked stem The whole area looks like regrowth
@@hodaka1000 That cut would have killed the tree so it is ring barked, but it may also have been used as some kind of pully. I know the trees were ringbarked back in the day simply to have an ongoing supply of dry wood.
Sorry Glenn
Very nice green looks so yummmmmmm
It was!
Hi they're guys it was a good weekend and awesome to catch up with you guys at petes Sunday love what you do keep it up cheers
Thanks. Pete put on a great event.
thanks for the tip...stay safe out there...
Thanks, will do!
Well done Glenn, quite a simple recipe and your secret is out, add a little cola, very nice. Cheers Pete
I had another ribs one to do at your subs day for Friday night but the storm ruined the setup and flooded the meal I was preparing so we just cooked it and gave up on the video. I have started to put some stuff together from the weekend but I’ll wait until yours is out and then I’ll put it up. Thanks again and hopefully we can catch up out there one day and have a chat. G & C
@GlennCarissasAdventures-qs4hi That storm was a pain, but it was gone as quick as it came, so that was good. My video will go out 7pm this Thursday, so scheduled it for just after that and you could get a follow on. Thanks for heading up on the weekend, it turned out great, the days were really good for prospecting, not too hot. Cheers
That’s my fault, I left the meal on the bench and forgot as I was trying to film two things at the same time, the rain/storm was awesome and so brief. I purposely didn’t mention your day too much as it was your weekend and I’m not sure of the protocol between filming our stuff on your weekend. All new to us.
@GlennCarissasAdventures-qs4hi All good mate, Anthony had his video out Saturday night 🤣 his was just about his day mostly and none of the formal stuff. Put yours out Thursday night after mine, might get a kick on from it. Cheers 👍
How do you not break those nails out dighing holes
They did end up coming off, Carissa had a work function a few days before and had her nails done for that. The glue they use seems pretty good.
Nice work miss Specie, good ears👂on that really small piece. Just found your channel and I love seeing the rake coming out for a play. Well done. Cheers 🍻
Welcome aboard!
👍👍
Brilliant idea
Thank you! Cheers!
Only glamping for you guys, your going to have a line up at your camp on the weekend. Cheers guys 👍
We’re planning the menu now… Friday night is slow cooked pork ribs with scalloped potatoes on the Travel Buddy….. Do you drink any spirits, I have my own distillery and was going to bring a few samples along.
@GlennCarissasAdventures-qs4hi Wow, now you're just showing off, are you going to have the blow up hot tub like on that TV ad as well? I really only drink beer, and shots during festive times and that normally results in a headache.
Nice one, always good to just go for a drive and see what you can see, and maybe find that next patch. See you at the subs day. Cheers Pete 👍
Just found your channel. Thanks for the video will look forward to more of your adventures 😁
Thanks, hope it helped.
Nice run on the gold - love Inglewood
It’s a great area and there’s plenty of places to camp well off the road.
