Large moulin on Sermeq Kujalleq (Store Glacier) in western Greenland
มุมมอง 4632 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a moulin - a place where water on the surface of the glacier flows down a hole into the inside of the glacier. It's a massive waterfall inside the ice of the glacier, and the spray produces a beautiful rainbow. There's at least four tonnes of water per second flowing - we measured it. I'm not standing any closer because if I lost my balance and fell in, everyone's day would have ended v...

nice :)
I love penguins so much I hope he found his way back if he was lost
Emperor penguins look so big when you see documentaries on them, but when it shows documentaries with humans in it, the emperor penguins are just small in comparison.
.. L
I thought penguins went noot noot. 😞😭
Po e a vontade de pegar ele e segurar e absurda kk
Poor pingu
❤❤❤
He’s an explorer❤
I can’t watch this. That penguin is lost and that depresses the shit out of me 😭
If it was russian film crew they would return him to his colony no matter the cost.
A small Emperor Penguin 😯 Now I’ve seen everything
Could never be a wildlife photographer simply because i love animals too much. Would 100% pet everything that wouldn't snap into me like a Slim Jim... you know what? Nah, I'd pet some of them too. Surely theres some nice gators out there
"penguins are immensely curious!" *morse code static noises*
That sounds like rain. What am I hearing? It was his “full waterproofs” comment that threw me.
It’s snowflakes being blown against the plastic bag I have around the camera
I never understand walking barefoot in -50 °. His feet without any fur even, like of polar mammals
Penguins, like many water birds (including ducks) have “heat exchangers” in their legs. Warm blood from the heart goes towards the feet, and is cooled by cold blood in the veins that is going back to the heart again. Effectively their feet run at a much lower body temperature than the rest of their bodies.
@@polarvideouk u understand that, while it looks like them should run out of any heat that way. Otherwise, having internal powerstation consuming a ton if charcoal per hour :)
Aw maan. Is this like the Werner Herzog one who is wandering toward certain death?
Удивительное создание)
this video is so old than 10 years
Indeed it is. I shot it in 2006, when youtube was only just beginning, and posted it on my personal website for friends. It was only in 2013 that I decided to put it on TH-cam. It’s sufficiently old that it was shot on actual videotape.
This is extremely sad hats off to the people recording, but gave up, ripped out their shovel and help the penguins. It’s one thing to intervene too much it’s another to help.🎉😢😢
I love the sound of his lil feet crunching the snow
why u didn't pet the penguin???
i wonder what it means when penguins point their beaks down and cry. I've only ever seen them do it next to humans, not with each other.
walk speed 100000000
this penguin just wanted a friend!
I would show it colors that it's never seen before. Like fucking Green.
We all lost emperor. We all.
💕💕💕💕
Incase people are wondering. I suspect that if they did pick it up and take it back to were it came from. Released the video. They would face heavy fines and legal action. Also, there is a code to not to interfere with nature if you are a person that studies wildlife.
Fucc those dumb ass rules I’m playing with a penguin and might take him to the better life he’s looking for 😂
so mesmerizing!
dang, he walked 25 miles, just to give an exclusive interview!
Did that penguin make it?
This emperor has managed to escape from Elba island and St. Helena but eventually got exiled here without any homies.

I feel like someday I’m gonna have to create some kind of Musique Concréte piece that uses one those greeting calls they make when approaching people. Such a bizarre sound.
A brave penguin finding the way of life.
Funny. The bird is thinking the same about the guy. Its his land dude.
I don't really understand why photographers can't interact with the wild animals. Like if its a dangerous animal or interrupting predation or feeding i can understand, these things happen on the daily in the wild and it's gonna happen even when we're not there to see it, but people always say there are unintended consequences to interfering with wild life. What consequences could there be if he just pets the penguin or walk around with it? It's clearly curious about the photographer so whats wrong about petting it or guiding it back to its colony?
I'd want to go exploring too if it was just ice for next two dozen miles.
If the story were another, perhaps the two of you could have made perfect lifetime partners. Nothing compares to the ache of past life-changing possibilities.
He exploring the map limits.
小肥企鹅弟,保重呀
why my man sounds like electabuzz ??
Change kono dino hobo na
Is that James May?
"Bro. Can you give me some ride to the next colony? I'm a little lost here..."
That sounds like a really nice movie or novel
Keep in mind the ecologists that are allowed to study these penguins and other wildlife are instructed to not directly touch any animals as to not ease the animals in to trusting humans too much (so they aren’t easily poached). Even if the penguin hopped on your lap you are not to pet it and just let it examine you.
He was searching for a good death
