What you did NOT say is that while a civil court has a lower standard of proof, lawyers in civil lawsuits can bring up things that aren't allowed in a criminal lawsuit. For example, the lawyers for the other side can explore each and every sexual experience the victim had, making the victim seem promiscuous or at least consenting. You also didn't address the fact that these lawsuits are expensive and take a long time to wind their way through the system. So, unless your abuser has serious money or you were abused by a priest or coach, you could win the case and end up owing your lawyer thousands of dollars. IOW, there really isn't any justice for most sexual assault survivors.

I lived in a Care Home for people with Disabilities, and my Abuser was a Gay Caregiver who loved Young Men. After having an Epileptic Seizure, he would put me in a wheelchair and take me to my room, and let me sleep it off. When I woke up, I found I was stripped naked, and he was doing things to me. He quickly left my room, and I called the Police. I told them what happened, then the Staff used my disability to make my accusations unreliable. The Police then asked me if anyone saw it happen. Otherwise, "No Witness, No Case!" The abuse continued and nobody believed me. When DNA became accepted in court, I had proof of his DNA soaked into my Mattress! When I called the Police again, my abuser went on a Cruise Ship for a Month, but when he was due back, I found out he had died onboard. Since my abuser could not appear in court, nothing could be done. Instead of getting compensation to obtain counselling, they told me to let the past be the past, as it won't happen anymore. Is there any other way I can get funds for Counselling? I'm dealing with PTSD and Flashbacks, with no help available.

THE RIGHT TO REPAIR is probably one of the top issues in the United States. This could destroy a society/country.

Class action suits... The right to repair is a very basic controversy. It would be good if more lawyers payed some attention to this. The the problem is systemic in industry starting with 'planned obsolescense' and the light bulb. Recently one very very critical area is with farmes. Tractors ... Farmers now cannot repair their own tractors or they violate the warranty. Part of the problem is digital gagetry. We have an old 1950s tractor and never have much of a problem and we don't do huge amounts of farming. This is a national famine waiting to explode because when these digitized tractors go belly up...maybe close to the same time... farmers will not be able to grow food. This is a national security issue. A young person who works at a tractor repair business said a farmer recently brought his tractor in for servicing within a month of purchase and it has been sitting in the shop for 3 months!!! This is in spring. The farmer cannot do his work and the payments for the new tractor keep going on. A disaster... Hope someone reading this pays some attention. Note to farmers... buy nonchipped/nondigital tractors. More could say about other areas of the workforce being hit with planned obsolescense...

Cause I had to learn to speak properly, had sever sensitive, unable to bite on side used as post, and was always quite painful. It only got worse as time went as it dying and abscessed. In my doctors letter he states as such that the work done buy this unit caused my pain and grief, hell the company even stated job was rushed. As I was also suffering from huge anxiety from being medically released after serving 22 years to be treated and spoken to as I was. My therapist said if you can't say anything don't as what comes out of your mouth during these times usually won't help as your in fight mode. Yes I was suffering from depression, PTSD, anxiety, and emotional grief I loved what I did and to be told what I was from the Unit Master Chief, I just had to suck it up as I positive I'd have gone from honorable discharge to dis-honorable. It also kind of depends on the circumstances of the trial. I saw a video covering medical malpractice. Someone was supposed to get their leg amputated but the medical staff removed the wrong leg which led to the patient losing both legs (because they still had to remove the correct one after). The compensation for it was around $6k. But a man lost one of his testicles in a botched medical procedure and his compensation was $800k. For context, he only had one functioning testicle before this so he would have to use testosterone therapy for the rest of his life. That's the main reason he got so much but the difference between that and losing both legs is massive.
