A channel with the aim to give useful informations about the history, culture and language of East Iranic people who once dominated large parts of Eurasia. Today little is known about their achievements
Tajik towns/villages mentioned in Sogdian documents or of Sogdic origin
It is not exactly known when the territory of present Tajikistan underwent language shift in favour of Persian; it can be supposed that Persian gained its prestigious position during reign of the Sāmānid dynasty (819-999)
however from Sogdian sources (Mg = Mount Mugh and B = Buddhist) there are known Sogdian place-names of North-Western Tajikistan (Sughd) and neighbouring areas that are used even today and mostly populated by Mountain Tajiks
