Bah Humbug! Making Melt & Pour Soaps: the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future! #toautomade
I used my FASTMELT from @toauto official to create 3 SOAPS at ONCE: Melt & Pour representations of the Ghost of Christmas Past, the Ghost of Christmas Present, and the Ghost of Christmas Future! What a FUN project! I've always been a huge fan of "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens, and this project gave me a chance to showcase 3 of my favorite characters from the story. Stay tuned for a longer video with technique instructions and info on colors and fragrances.

I just watched your stained Glass video and I love it! But I'm wondering what is it your spraying on the soap after it's completed and has cut and why are you spraying? Thanks for the tutorial.
Glad you liked it! I spray rubbing alcohol on my soaps at different stages and for various reasons. When working with the soap while making it, it pops bubbles that may form, and can help layers adhere. I spray after the cut to show the clarity of the soap on camera, as it does not quite pick it up on its own. I also spray after filming sometimes, if it's humid and I need to prevent or lessen glycerin dew. Great question, and thanks for asking! I explain it occasionally in a video, but I don't always remember to, especially in more complex designs. Thank you so much for watching! 🥰
Somehow I missed this. Lovely soap I have to try for Halloween. Thank you.
Thank you! This was a fun one, but I ended up having to do it back to back to Arachnophobia, just to squeeze it in before Halloween last year. I also wanted to make one with little ghosts and one just a sky with a moon & stars- those will probably be in my set for this year! Thanks for watching and being a member! 🥰
Es buena idea👍
Gracias! 🥰🥰🥰
Absolutely marvelous! I’m can’t decide if I liked the White background or the all clear 😜 I’m wondering if a frosting piping tool would work? You forgot to show us the Artist work you were replicating I’d love to see photo. 1 more question what size is the mold you’re using? 💞🧼🫧
Thanks, Deb! I think a piping tool would work, most likely. It may be more difficult to pour into. I'll be playing with some new tools in probably a month or two before that's published. The artist's name is Dale Chihuly and this soap didn't really turn out like his art, but I will be making another attempt with a different technique. He has many styles, so google Chihuly at the Biltmore Estate, specifically his Persian Ceiling. I'm such a fan of glass art, and he is my favorite glass artist. The mold I'm using is a 10 x 10 slab mold, and they have been very difficult to find as of late. Really annoying because I want another one! 🤣
Beautiful 😍😍😍😍
Thank you so much! 🥰
Can't wait to try it. Thank you !
Awesome! Hope I get to see your results in one of the soap groups, Instagram or somewhere! Tag me if you can. Thanks for watching! 🥰
What is appropriate depth of clear soap I’ve tried but think clear was too thick
Deb, it's a great question, but difficult to answer. I didn't measure I just eyeballed about half way up, perhaps a little more. I didn't want it to be too far from the front but I also didn't want a lot of black to show on the sides. I guess I tried to go where the black would be mostly hidden, so once the curve started to straighten. My molds hold about 3.5 oz of soap, so you could guestimate about 2 oz. Next time I make something in those molds I see if I can get a better measurement. Thanks for watching and for asking! 🥰
So beautiful...question, when I cut my soaps they come out so uneven, it looks sloppy. How do you do it?
Thank you! With this kind of soap I use a double handled cheese knife (I think it's 16" long. Here's my Amazon Link for the knife, disclosing that if you use this link I will earn commission on the sale: amzn.to/3Edler0 I measure very carefully, or use the guidelines in the mold- not all molds have those. I mark with a small knife all 4 sides and then when I line the knife up, I lean over the top to make sure it's straight up and down and not angled. Then push slowly straight down. For loaf soaps, I use Uncle Andy's Soap Cutter. Hope this helps! Reminder: mine are not perfect- I'm not great at cutting either! 😁
Oh Gosh! Those are just ADORABLE!! ❤
Thank you so much, Jean! 🥰 Thank you for watching!
Very Nice!!!
Thank you! 🥰
Yes, I've seen this technique but can't remember who it was and it may have been with the resin.
It's a common resin technique, which is why my first soaps with this technique were called "NOT Resin" LOL! It's a really fun technique overall. 🥰
😍 Amazing, complimenti!!!!
Thank you so much! 🥰
I think painting molds is my favorite part of the whole process!!
It's so much fun, and a little soothing to me! 🥰 Thanks for watching!
Hi, I just found your videos and I’m so happy I did!! I Love how these look like Jewels! Could you answer two questions? After you’re done, you spray them with alcohol, when I did that it made them look good for 15 seconds, then it got very cloudy and I could not wipe it off. I had to cut the top layer. I’m using 91% isopropyl alcohol. Are you using something different? Also, before you begin when you pour the first layer of clear, do you spray alcohol into the silicone prior to pouring the clear? I tried that both ways and I still get little bubbles. Hopefully, you see my questions thanks so much!!
Thank you so much, I'm glad you found me, too! 🥰 when I spray with alcohol it's 91% unless I'm sanitizing something, then it's 70%. I'm not sure why yours clouded over, but here's a few guesses: humidity can cause glycerin dew to form, and you can wipe it off, but sometimes takes wiping several times, spraying again lightly and putting near a fan if necessary to dry them. Another guess is maybe the mold itself has a matte finish inside- some of them do. The one I linked has a very shiny inside, but I have another heart mold that's matte and imprints that onto the soap. Was the cloudiness on the inside or outside of the soap? If it seems to be cloudy inside, it could be that the soap was overheated when you melted it. Also, sometimes the clear soap will go cloudy in a really cold environment. If that's the case, gently heat them by putting them in a warm (not hot) area. I put mine near a heater in that case and they clear up. Re-reading, I see you cut the top layer, so it's probably an issue with glycerin dew or maybe somehow got wet. Both can clear up, but sometimes takes a bit of wiping, and then spray again with the 91%, but lightly. Put a little fan on them if you can and let them dry out for a day or two. I spray a few times lightly in between while they are drying. Hope some of this helps- it's kind of a guessing game trying to trouble shoot! Let me know if I can help further! 🥰
Oops, forgot to address the bubbles! If you have bubbles in your pitcher, you'll have bubbles in your soap. I try to spray my soap in the pitcher before pouring, I sometimes spray the mold, but very lightly, then I also spray after pouring. If the bubbles don't go away in the pitcher, I check my temperature, and if it's not too hot I put it back in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds and it causes the bubbles to rise and collect in the center- spray that with alcohol and you should be bubble free!
@@msTsoap oh wow, thank you so much for the detailed response. I think I made several mistakes lol. I made a second batch and sprayed the mold to much, I could see upside down bubbles 🫣 right on the inside of the top. Terrible! I am also not sure what temperature to heat the soap to. I definitely need to practice more. You’re amazing, thank you so much for your help!
@@nicolemastrilli6438 you're welcome! Your soap supplier should be able to provide the melting point of your particular soap. If the info isn't available online, I would email or call & ask. I think they have to provide that for you.
I love this so much and ready to play!
Thank you so much! I just bought some more fun tools and I'll be doing some experimenting soon! I'm so excited to play, too! 🥰
so with your swirls you wait until the first layer poured had dried somewhat and pour next layer and then kinda for lack of a better term dig up some of the dried pieces to swirl it together?
Sort of, it really wasn't solidified yet- you want the top of the layer to solidify and cool a bit. That's why you do the pencil eraser test- does it kind of bounce back when you push on it lightly with a pencil eraser (or the end of a silicone spatula/stirrer). You're looking for a thick skin, about an eighth to a quarter of an inch thick. Here's a link to the full tutorial I'll BRB with a link to the full tutorial. 😁
Here you go, full tutorial: th-cam.com/video/cT8o5SF3744/w-d-xo.html
Wow
Thank you!
Also what about, when they're still wet but overpoured, going across with a bench scraper?
Absolutely, depends on the molds for me, but you can! Just do it right away or a skin will develop and you'll be pulling that up and it kind of makes a mess and can ruin the embeds. If you work fast though, you can! 🥰
WOAH!! I saw your other video first and assumed those fish embeds were like, erasers or something. But good golly gosh, the level of detail you put into your work is amazing, well done!!!
Thank you so much! All soap! 😁 Thanks for watching! 🥰
Adorable!!!!!
Thank you so much! 🥰
pretty I love it !!
Thank you! I need to do another swirl soon! Been too long! 😁
That's an ocean for sure.👐💙cant wait to try.

Pretty
Thank you so much! 🥰
Those are amazing!
Thank you so much! 🥰
Oh this is adorable
Thank you, it was a fun project! 🥰
Is that a mold used for resin? That's a pretty soap. I collect rocks and stones, so it caught my attention.
Thank you! The molds can be found on Amazon. Many people use them for soaps, as they are silicone and safe for that use, BUT I found them by searching in the baking molds section. Not sure why, but I guess some people are making little stone cakes, LOL. 🥰 Thanks for watching!
Reminds me of tiger iron....tigers eye with hematite
Thanks! I actually did both in the full video (Tiger Eye and Tiger Iron). I'm fairly obsessed with rocks & minerals!
Sooo cute!!!
Thank you so much! 🥰
Hey, nice❤ hey i heard you say you have a problem with lye, what about the speaying alcohol? I find it upsets my asthma, and wondering if theres an alternative.
I do, I just try to avoid breathing it in. I really don't know of an alternative. I do use a really fine mist sprayer, which is both better and worse. You get less alcohol, but it's dispersing better, so either a mask or like me, spray & run, LOL. Making sure your space is well ventilated helps. Perhaps keep a small fan on, moving the airflow away from you?
@msTsoap thanks so much for your thoughtful reply, I hadn't thought of a fan to blow it away. Spray and run😅 had wondered about spraying outside, but temperatures are never the same outdoors as inside !
@@Wings91 you're welcome! Let me know how it goes! 🥰
Beautiful soap version of A Christmas Story. 👏🏾💕💕
Thank you so much, Brenda! 🥰
Thank you so much for this! I'm new to soap making and I'm enjoying painting them!
Thank you for watching, I'm so glad you're having fun! 🥰
The ghost of Marley always makes me think about Bob Marley, and what he would have done as a Christmas ghost, and then I can't stop listening to reggae for months... Terry, how about a reggae soap?! Like a Jamaican flag with dreads and a doobie in layers of clear melt and pour... Or possibly not. But wouldn't that be something? Hope you and Mister are surviving the cold snap, Terry! My soaping room is 52° F today, lol, and the soap solidifies as I pour it. Sometimes it doesn't even make it out of the dang pitcher! (Let's all run off to Jamaica, whaddaya say?) (Gorgeous soap in this short, btw! )❤❤❤
🤣Well, Bob Marley certainly had the Peace on Earth bit down, I think One Love fits right in with the Christmas Story and A Christmas Carol! I've been to Jamaica once, and definitely prefer the climate! Our low the other day was 15 (tonight is 14) and the feels like temp was 2. That's right. 2. 😶 We're doing ok, just staying inside 99.9% of the time and hibernating. LOL. I once made a Rasta Crystal Soap, Jamaican flag colors of course. So glad you like the soap, thank you! And thanks for watching! Stay warm...🥶
Catching up on videos this morning, and I was so glad to see this, Terry! The soaps are superlative, as always! ( Say that 5 times, fast!) Rocci and I are so very sorry for your loss. Sending you a big rib-popping hug! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! 🦃
Thank you, my friend. It's been a long & weird year. Getting back into everything has been slower than I'd like, but sometimes I have to make myself slow down. We had a really nice Thanksgiving! Hope you and Rocci did as well! 🥰❤️🥧
Beautiful 🎉
Thank you! 🥰
Estou encantada com tanta beleza!!! Gostaria de saber como voce prepara os pigmentos.
Thank you so much! I usually add my micas to 91% isopropyl alcohol before mixing into the soap, it disperses more easily. You can also use vegetable glycerin or even your fragrance oils. Thank you for watching! 🥰
Truly beautiful. ❤
Thank you so much! 🥰
Beautiful ❤Your talent is unmatched! 🔥🔥🔥
