A fabulous place to visit. I grew up in a local town and now live close to Bonegilla (we locals pronounce it as Bone (same as eg. bone in your leg) - e (as for egg) gill (same as a fish gill) -a (pronounced u), Growing up in the 50’s and 60’s we knew a lot of people who spent time there and then moved to local towns. The children went to our schools and we never had racial discrimination issues. Many of them became close friends. I remember as a child going to the camp when I was young and visiting some of the people my parents became friends with. I would listen to their stories of what it was like living in Europe during the war. Even though I was a child I found it heartbreaking listening to some of their stories. Our region was blessed to have these wonderful, resilient people living and working in our community. ❤️🌺
Yes Lenore we found it quite moving to visit, but extremely glad we did visit and did the tour, it added a lot to the experience in our opinion.
Hi, what sort of temps were you getting for May. We’re looking for June/July next year.
@@paulgiles542 Paul from memory we were getting low to mid twenties and sunny, with night time lows of around 5-7. In July you can get high teens to low twenties, but nights can get to zero, if they are clear. A lot depends on the wind direction and speed as well, which you can't really predict, but if from the south it will be cold.
Thanks for this very informative utube, we will be there in a few weeks and might be able to fit it in.
@@michelehalsall5600 Michelle it is definitely worth visiting and try and get on the tour, it adds to the experience.
Definatly a great experience. Thank you for sharing this.
@@JeanetteDundas-g6l yes Jeanette it is definitely one worth visiting
Canola fields are beautiful, aren't they?
@@A.S.K.1 yes Steve we love seeing them in full flower when we are travelling.
you guys are a long way from SA. If you get a chance get up to the upper Murray which feeds into lake Hume. one of our favourite places. :)
@@martinstallard6173 thanks Martin we will check it out, if we get a chance, if we don't we will put it on the list for next time. And we aren't really far from SA, we are just up river 🤣
If you get the chance, call in to the Adelaide botanic gardens on your way home maybe & see if the garden glass display is still on, theres a paid section in the bicentenary conservatory & a night time walk but also free viewing around the gardens during the day
@@michelleh9685 thanks for the heads up, we might have to see if we have time when we are in Adelaide the next time 👍
Frog looks like a spotted marsh frog but i could be mistaken, every state almost has their own variations.
@@michelleh9685 thanks we weren't sure what it was.
What did the fish say when it swam into a concrete wall ? Oh DAM
@@Nathan-vq9ch 🤣
Wow that house looks incredible and that frog was stunning the markings were incredible. The blossoms may be a pain but will make for some spectacular photos and video you lucky buggers.
@@filthyoffroadadventures thanks yes it is a beautiful house, housesitting does have some perks, you can get some great house's to look after.
@@Vantastic_Aus definitely worth considering that’s for sure.
It is a good option to give you a base somewhere you may want to explore for a longer period.
Might have to add Albury to our list of places to see now. Thanks
@@jacquibaldry6318 it's definitely worth visiting. There is a lot more in the area than we first thought. We have a few more videos coming 😃
Great to see you are seeing the sites of our beautiful region. Will catch up soon. Have you visited the Bonegilla Migrant Camp yet? We are about 6 minutes down the road. ❤️🌺
@@lenorerhodes8110 hi Lenore yes we were there today, it's amazing, so should be in next week's video. We don't have long left in Albury now, the time has been flying.
Its trained to transcribe a us accent :/ google shouldve thought it through by giving an English australian language lol
@@lomein2186 yes it is annoying it doesn't seem to handle accents very well 😁
@@Vantastic_Aus the only work around i can think of that isnt pulling out an atlas would be manually punching in the address. Obviously it would be more tedious with more steps than just using your voice, but to circumvent the issue, pull it up the directions on your phone before connecting to the car. Idk, but i hope you both find a work around that best suits you, yall have a great day!
@lomein2186 it does work sometimes, and other times it has a dummy spit and it is usually when you need it most :-)
Great episode team. We did Toms mine with the dogs and was great but wow the one you went to was amazing. I can confirm that it’s not an altar behind the curtain it’s like a storage room or possible where the priest gets ready?? Shh I may have had a little peek 😂🤣 We love Coober Pedy and will be heading back and spending more time there.
Yes the Old timers mine is interesting 😁 We won't tell anyone you peaked 😉
@@Vantastic_Aus 🤫🤣
I believe years ago when Harry was still with us he allowed a film crew in & a story was done on him. I can't remember if it was abc & possibly backroads or another of their programs. I remember it because it was such an artistic & creative place & there wasnt a plain surface to be found.
@@michelleh9685 yes it is quite a unique place and when I went there first in 1996 he was still there and showing people around and telling stories.
It is a fabulous place to explore. ❤️🌺
@@lenorerhodes8110 yes Lenore definitely one we will be back to see again 😁
Your braver then me I’m claustrophobic thank god for social media I can see it thru your eyes and comments.
Well, I don't usually cope too well either but I'd been in this one before! Glad you can enjoy it with us!

@@MisterGee509 well at least it wasn't fixed 🤣
Fabulous videos. Lots of useful information, thank you for sharing. 😊
@@tammylabrosciano5250 thanks Tammy, glad you found it useful. We are happy to share our experiences.
Great info we also use what’s Ap for messaging the owner and sending pics of there pets. We try to do a meet & greet if possible before the sit to see if we are a great fit for all and the animals. My trick is I take photos before I move anything and then put things back before the owner is back.
@@margaretolsson8440 yes Margaret we do the same, usually we will try and visit the house sit, if possible, a few months before so we can meet and greet and check it out before we commit. This is especially important for the longer property sits.
Is it a good idea to have police clearances too?
Yes Michelle, we both have that and it does help, as some people do ask for it.
Very informative & useful information for thse of us interested in house / farm/ station sitting .
Thanks Michelle, glad you found it interesting, and hopefully of some use.
If you’re got costochronditis get a back pod expensive but fixes you up super quick

Didn't get to run over the train, bugger.
Maybe next time 😉 But it did hold us up twice after that where we had to wait at crossings 😮
Brilliant walks, beautiful scenery. I’ve flown a number of times in a helicopter, love it. Great you did go up. 👏👏👏👏❤️🌺
Thanks Lenore, glad you enjoyed it. Hopefully catch up soon.
Thanks for sharing Kings Canyon Walk and the helicopter ride. Something I will never get to do as I would never manage those steps. Keep doing what you can do while you can and enjoy.
@@michelehalsall5600 Michelle, yes it isn't the easiest climb to get to the rim walk. But the creek walk is relatively easy and flat, but still get some great views of the canyon. And then do the helicopter ride 😁
Great episode. We can’t wait to get to Kings Canyon and 6km walk looks awesome and we will look into the longer one too. Well done facing your fears with flying. Personally love it but I have spent most of my life around aviation. Leisa is also not super keen on small aircraft.
@@filthyoffroadadventures you both will love it there. The longer walk is 22 km one way and takes 2 days so need to carry a bit of stuff.
@@Vantastic_Aus yeah we would look to knock it out in a day. We did the entire Carnarvon Gorge return walk in a day with filming. Think it was about 30km. Wouldn’t recommend it but we did it 😂🤣
@@filthyoffroadadventures that could be ambitious, as it took us over 4 hours to do the 6 km rim walk, might have been able to get it in 3 if we had pushed it but it would have been very tiring. Their time estimates for the walks seem fairly accurate from the two we did, unlike a lot of other walks we have done in well under the time estimates. It is a very rocky walk with climbs and descents.
Ah Leah your an inspiration for me , with your previous solo travels & get out there attitude ! The colours are amazing out there & I can't wait to finish doing my rig up & head out there myself
@@michelleh9685 Michelle glad we can inspire you. It's definitely worth visiting.
Thank you! As you know, I do think you just need to do things when you have the chance! So, you go gal! 😊
Thanks for that episode. It brought back great memories of doing the walk with our young children then, 35 years ago. Great 👍
@@dougcoleman2779glad we could bring back some memories for you Doug. Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Thank you, I first did this walk with my kids too and my heart was in my mouth most of the walk then and think I used the good old lolly trail too! 😆
Thank you for sharing your experiences at Kings Canyon. I’ll be definitely be adding this on our bucket list. So look forward to exploring Kings Canyon in the future. I don’t think I could bring myself to do the helicopter ride, too terrifying for me. The walks will do me just fine. Happy travels 😊
@@tammylabrosciano5250 it's an amazing place and well worth visiting. And the helicopter ride just adds to it and worth pushing your limits to do 🤔
We loved the Kings Canyon Walk and good on you for being brave with the Helicopter ride.
@@cathbp4089 it is an amazing place and a great experience. Definitely the helicopter ride added to it.
😮 we are about to do this 😮
@@jacquibaldry6318 we are sure you will enjoy it, it's an amazing place.
Thank you for the shout out. I totally loved this video. I can't wait to get out there and see it for myself
Thank you Gaye for being such a great support as a friend! Don't miss our next video if you want to have a laugh at my sheer terror in Kings Canyon. Such a magical place as well but I need a pair of new knickers, you'll be able to tell! 🤣💩
Carnt you just spray exit mould or vinegar on the canvas and clean it , ive got the same problem in my roof top tent , probably the condensation happening in three probably have to pop it open now and then i recon to air it out 🤔
@@davidmilledge221 David the mould was over all the bedding and mattress, as well as the canvas and roof lining. We cleaned it and aired it as best we could. But had to remove the roof lining as advised by the camper maker, this has helped but it is booked in for investigation and repairs next month.
It's a beautiful rock made millions off years before any human ever walked the planet no body owns it it's just beautiful like the other big rocks in the surrounding areas and like any other countries that have the same thing 😊
@@davidmilledge221 we agree with you David, it is an amazing rock, and so are the others around there.
Its Ayers Rock.
@@Aphony66 yes that's one of its names
the glittery stuff is mica
Thanks Hans for the information, always good to know what we are looking at.
wow you guys are having a tough time but your living an awesome life. Your view of Uluru is just beautiful.
Yes Martin, we have had a bit of bad luck, but we have to roll with it, but it does give you a story for later 🙂 Yes we had some good views of the rock.
Have lost an Anderson on the Oodnadatta Track. If you dun some zip ties it stops it from happening. Love the painted desert just epic.
Yes we ended up losing two on the Oodnadatta section 😯 Looking at making up some options to stop it happening again. Maybe a stone stomper. Yes we loved the painted desert, will definitely be back there 🙂
@@Vantastic_Aus yeah zip tie works but there are special clips you can buy. Stone stompers are great idea I just ordered one for our new van so can have it fitted before we pick it up.
@@filthyoffroadadventures yes I had a stone stomper on a previous tvan, just haven't ordered one yet for the BT, but have been looking at them.
Can’t wait to get back to the rock and for Leisa to see it for the first time.
@@filthyoffroadadventures you will both enjoy it, it's quite an amazing place 🙂
I'm surprised to see that you're getting dust in your van. We are on our third BT, and apart from getting dust in our first van, where the area under our fridge hadn't been sealed properly at the factory, we have no dust in our two other vans. Unlike you, we don't have the new door, but we close over our dust door and have sponge rubber between it and the main door. Dust entry could be around the fridge if the dust is mainly on the floor.
@@sawtybt1917 yes it is mainly on the floor near the fridge, so we suspect it's via the grill behind the fridge. Will get it checked when we take it back for a service.
The rock looks stunning. Which is the best way to walk it if you can only go one way. Clockwise or anti clockwise
Gaye, it depends on the time of the day that you are walking, as you want to have some shade if possible, but also the light on the rock changes it as well. But for some of the walk you are well away from the rock, so don't quite get the same sense as where you are walking right beside it.
I've never actually made it out to the rock, like you though I've always considered it as the heart of Australia too. Some of the profiles of ridges looked like a person laying on their back with their head tilted backwards. It gives out a vibe of spirituality anytime I watch something about it, always has even as a child their was something special about it. I even lived in Alice 30 years ago for a few months, but was too busy working to make the drive out there, one of my biggest regrets now.
@@michelleh9685 Michelle, it is definitely spiritual there and as you walk around the rock and the light on it changes it gives you different impressions. Pictures and videos just don't give you the real view compared to seeing it in person.
Heartbreaking - water flooding. Mould is the issue and expansion of the floor and MDF if any. When you say turn off the pump - do you mean just the power point switch or actually under the sink? (where the pump is in our van). Thank god our Diesel heater inlet and outlets are up off the floor.
@@judithtaylor6916 thanks Judith. Yes it was heartbreaking to see it, but fortunately so far so good with no sign of damage so far, but we are keeping a close eye on it. Yes we normally turn them off at the switch but missed them that morning, but there would still have been water as it was a fitting on the hot water tank that broke.
The glittery slabs are actually mica. Apparently, the area is known for it. Mica is used in electronics, etc. In fact, my convection heater at home has a sheet of mica in it that radiates infra red heat. It's called a "micathermal" heater. Works very well.
@@A.S.K.1 thanks Steve. There was a lot of it there, might have to go and collect it, might be worth something 🤔
I parked my car in a big shopping centre car park miles away from every one else i walked ages so many empty spots around when i came back that side off car park was still empty but someone parked their car so close to mine i couldn't open my driver's door WTF and we were the only cars there
@@davidmilledge221 yes know what you mean, happens to us as well in the RAM. Don't know what they are thinking 🤔
