At the end of the day why should any of us 21st century people think absolute monarchy is something to support anyway? As likable as Rhaenyra is(at some points. No one seems to remember she gave zero shits about the poor servant guy who was killed in place of Laenor which she 100% knew about) but she isn't going to some feminist liberator for all the women in Westeros unless she wants to dismantle a system that also reduces her own absolute authority.
Most lords who support Rhaenyra are making an accession for her. Not a single lord changes their succession laws even in spite of supporting her in the book. The show is going further but at the end of the day the concept of "usurper" is debatable. Some thought Robery usurper, and Viserys, Daenerys' brother the rightful king? Who is actually right?.
