Love the quilt on the wall behind you.
Thank you! It’s the “Winter Village” pattern by Laundry Basket Quilts. It’s on my list to finish up this year! ❄️
Maybe you could find leaf patterns in a coloring book to trace. They wouldn't be as fragile. I think your quilting looks lovely.
Aw Thank you so much! 💕Thank you for sharing!🌻 Great idea about the coloring book for the future!
Thank you for sharing. Happy Holiday. ❤😊
Thank you for watching Linda! Happy Holidays to you too! 🌻
Love your humour, very funny.
Aw, thank you so much! It was fun to shoot and edit. Thank you for watching! 🌻
Yes especially the pinwheel block I am making, ahhhhhh😢
Yes they can be tough with all those seams! Hopefully the tips help! Do let me know! Thank you for sharing! Best wishes with your project!🌻
Can't really see the point of that....cannot see it's precisely equal on all sides...like a proper template would be
Thank you for sharing. 🌻 it’s simply another technique one can use or not.
❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for watching!
Wonderful video . Happy Fall.
Thank you so much! 🌻 Happy Fall to you too! 🍁
👋👋 Love love ❤️ your table topper. Nice design and 🕸️🕸️🕸️ quilting spot on
Aw! Thank you so much! 💕🌻
Put a 3M hook on your new metal ruler, easier to hold and grip….and fingers up out of the way 🤗 you could also put grippers on the back so it doesn’t slide
I shared that idea in this video I posted a few months ago. Must Try Quilting Ruler Hack #shorts #quilting th-cam.com/users/shortsDYEZQWY447w?feature=share. Thank you for watching and sharing.
@@ginnielynn Ah, so you have…..glad you found out about it! I’ve been doing it for over a decade now and love 3M hooks.. I use them on my machines too, 3 of them… 1 to hang my scissors/snips, and 2 slightly apart for my seam ripper/awl to rest on so they don’t all run away! 🤗🤗🤗
I do love it. I find it’s hard to hang it with my other rulers, since the hook adds some bulk, as I have limited space. Curious, how are you storing them?
@@ginnielynn I have 2 large pegboards full of all my rulers… but yeah, I do have to hang those ones at the front because of the hook, and I mainly have them on my little square rulers, so I leave them out on the cutting board arranged prettily 🤗
Dinkie hair clips are the best, clamp well, slip off well and cheaper than wonder clips, can get from hairdressing places
Good tips! 😀 Thank you for sharing and watching! 🌻
Your way of ending the stitching was really interesting. I also have not had any luck with knots at the end.
Thank you so much! 🌻 hopefully you find it works for you as well.
Great video Ginnie 🥰
Aw! Thank you so much ! 🥰 Your support means a lot! 🌻
Love the Quilt Basting helpers. I have two cats that do it for me.
Oh how cute! 💕Thank you for sharing and watching!🌻
Thank you for sharing.
You're very welcome! 🌻
My dog does the same thing when I try to baste my quilts.
Aw! They do add some extra fun to it all! 😁Thank you for sharing and watching!🌻
I'd like to try that some day. Thanks for the inspiration. The quilt and the doggies are very cute!
It’s so much fun! Thanks for sharing and watching! 🌻
I’m impressed with your down to earth sewing room. Not all fancy but perfectly suits the space and your needs. You have given me ideas for my own space!
I am so happy that I was able to inspire you! Thank you for sharing and watching! 🌻
The measurement of a hexie is taken on the short side, so your hexie probably is 1" - 1.5 " across one of the short sides; not the diameter.
You are absolutely right! Thanks for pointing that out! I hope I didn’t confuse anyone! 🌻
Buy a Big Shots die cutter to cut hexi forms(paper/plastic) And fabric. Way easier! I hand sew way to fast for this. This would make me fall asleep. Taking out hexi forms is simple, especially if you glue baste your fabric.
Thank you for watching and sharing. The video simple offers an another way to make them. 🌻 Sounds like hexies with forms are your jam! Happy Quilting!
Great video. So fun and creative. ❤
Thank you so much! It was fun to shoot. A lot of editing and filming hours, so your kind words mean a lot! 🌻
I like it but I am too thrifty with my fabric.
Thank you for sharing. I had the same thought. I am using it to my advantage. I am not putting a backing on a project I am making with them. I share all of this in my follow up video. Check it out. Quilting Tips: Hexagons WITHOUT Paper Forms Part 2 th-cam.com/video/9oERGgxxL-w/w-d-xo.html
@@ginnielynn ok makes sense, easy finishing.
@@ginnielynn I will try it when I have enough fabric that I can fussy cut.
I enjoyed this so much 🥹
Thank you so much! 🌻
I suppose I'm lazy. I'd just press it down.
It sounds like you’re creative to me! 🌻 Thank you for sharing and watching!
appreciate you taking the time to share your quilting tips!!
Thank you so much! 🌻
Thank you for sharing your ideas 🤗❣️ I really really like the baby Kobalt tool box! One handy item I found a Home Depot was a baby hammer-it’s the perfect size & weight for precision pounding plus it doesn’t take up as much space. And I sometimes use it to place a grommet or snap or even a key fob in, for that I use a small piece of scrap muslin to cover the metal to prevent scratches or dings. I also use a small clip on rechargeable headlamp style flashlight by Night Ize for extra hands free light when doing detail work-it has 2 light settings, a red light, and a flashing red light, you can also “charge” a glow-in-the dark fabric design quickly to check out the effect-I also carry one in my pocket for those times I need a bit of extra light or am in a fabric store and want to check out glow-in-the dark designs. My only other possibly helpful idea is I bought a small inexpensive pocket sized rechargeable black light flashlight by Anker from Amazon-it’s really helpful to see the white on white or cream on cream designs or the glow-in-the dark parts of a fabric design. Thank you again…..
Thank you so much for sharing all of your great ideas and for watching! 🌻
@@ginnielynn your most welcome 🤗❣️

I just made 273 grandmother's garden hexi flowers without papers and it was liberating!!! I used fabrics from my stash and now i am joining them to look like a wild flower garden. It'll take some time to complete but it is so relaxing.
Wow! Congratulations ! Thank you for sharing!🌻Having a bit of hand work is always nice. I do love it too! You’ll hopefully like the future video I am working on now that is hand work related. Wishing you continued success on your project! 🌻

Love your humour to lighten a sometimes frustrating procedure. Great visual on your techniques. Tx. Ontario, Canada.
Thank you so much for your kind words and for watching! 🌻
The dark side?
Hello. Pressing to the dark side means when you press the seams on your quilt block you press them over towards the darker fabric so they don’t show through on the front of the quilt. I explain more about the technique and how it is done in my “How to Press Your Quilt Block Seams-Quilting Tutorial” video. Thank you for watching! 🌻
@@ginnielynn got it. I'm a beginner, so I had no clue what you meant by that.
No worries. I got a similar question after I posted that video and why I did the other video to help folks out. I am so glad I could help! 😊 I didn’t know either when I started and had to ask too. It was why I started my channel to help other quilters starting out. I am so happy I could help. Let me know if there any other topics I could cover in a video. Happy Quilting! 🌻.
@@ginnielynn thank you so much. 😊❤️
Thank you! I’m a new quilter, after you make the half square triangle will I need to square up the block?
Thank you for watching! 🌻 Yes it is good practice to square them up. I use my Clearly Slotted Trimmer ruler to square them up.
Wow. Thought I knew every hexie technique out there... (Like yo-yo's, but better.) One sheet of cotton flannel would probably do fine for batting in a quilt of these. I am currently waiting on shipment of a 1000 hexie papers, and will have some fun with these, while waiting. One odd thing I've noticed in the world of fold-over paper hexie making is the insistence that papers HAVE to be left in on aggregate edges, as if you can ONLY sew them together with the paper intact, and the hexie will self-destruct without the form (everyone presses....right?). I see this even in videos where the maker has neatly thread basted the corners down. Nice presentation. Thank you.
Thank you so much for the kind words and sharing! 🌻So happy to hear you learned a new hexie technique! They are quite fun! Not sure if you saw my follow up video “Quilting Tips: Hexagons Without Paper Forms” I recently posted where you can see a project I am working on with this technique and I offer a few tips too!
I do this, but I come up the center from the outside, leaving the knot on the outside. That way I can just snip the knot off after I have pressed and sewn together.❤
Thank you for watching and sharing! 🌻
GENIUS 😮
Thanks for sharing the washing tips. ❤
Thank you so much for watching and your continued support of my channel! It is so appreciated!🌻

ok, the entry to your vid with the pup in the cart prompted me to do a thumbs up! Love it
Aw thank you! My dogs love their trips to the hardware store! Thank you for watching and liking the video! 🌻
Is it a UFO if the fabric has been purchased and the pattern is ready to go, but no cutting has been done at all? Is there a different 'title' for these? Most of my stash space is occupied by non-starters like these....😢
I have a few of them and I did count them, but put them in their own category. 🌻
Thank you
Thank you so much!🌻 Thank you for watching too! 😊
So you say, but I find it more prone to error looking through the thickness of the ruler.
Thank you for sharing and watching! 🌻When I first started quilting I kept hearing this phrase from other quilters “to cut with your ruler”. So I guessed at what they meant for a long time, until one day someone actually demonstrated what it meant. Imagine my joy! I tried it and things got better I wanted to share what this meant in case someone else was struggling to understand as well. I find the ruler lines help. 😀 Happy Quilting!
So glad I found your channel! I needed humor today especially. Watched your "10 tips/flat seams" and love the ending. Thank you for sharing... I learned much.
Thank you so much for watching and your kind words! 🌻 so happy to hear the video made you smile! 😊
