REDACTED Culture Cast
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 30 ต.ค. 2021
Gun Culture approaches the end of a generational shift, coalescing in a fusion of the old ways and new tech.
As the anti-intellectualism of the past dies off, it is replaced by a deeply felt need for more than the physical tools necessary for the preservation of life and the pursuit of living rightly.
Here we host long form conversations with Gun Culture individuals from across the horizon, engage in rigorous as well as colloquial philosophy, and strive to equip the community with the ideas that we ground our lives in.

263: Ranger Battalion, Doctrine, and Process First with Mike Meegan
The U.S. Army Ranger Battalion demands a constant pursuit of excellence and it comes at a cost to the individual. Few will know the cross pressure of desiring to go back to the aggressive lifestyle of a Ranger and the reality that one cannot keep up the level of performance indefinitely. Mike Meegan walks through the differences between living on "the line" and Ranger School. His tenure training in Small Unit Ranger Tactics and now as a leader of Rudder's Rangers at Texas A&M, brings a valuable perspective to the table when it comes to training mentality.

262: How to Reduce Violence, Ethically
มุมมอง 12012 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
The subject of Gun Control easily misses the mark on more than one occasion. Politically unpopular, economically damaging, and culturally disruptive, one should begin to wonder why it comes back into conversation time and time again. We might be quick to describe supporting gun control as merely virtue signaling, but if we really believed that, we would treat it like a dangerous idea that it is...
261: Tim Selbrede on Fighting Fire and Pyrrhic Political Victories
มุมมอง 10716 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
It's not the elephant in the room, the Las Angeles fires dominates the news cycle. Time Selbrede joins the show to talk about the reality of wild land firefighting and debunk myths about the current situation. As we sort fact from fiction a pattern emerges: that some people just want to see the world burn, and others would rather be entertained at someone else's misfortune than solve the proble...
260: Defense Against Conspiracy Theories
มุมมอง 170วันที่ผ่านมา
What makes something a conspiracy theory? We already know we cannot trust every power that be, every narrative, every explanation. The further down the rabbit hole you go, the worse it gets and the more madness it imparts. On the one hand, calling something a conspiracy theory dismisses the legitimacy of an individual's beliefs. On the other hand, we've likely witnessed the spiral into madness ...
259: Scaling Every Day Carry in 2025
มุมมอง 2.1K14 วันที่ผ่านมา
Too often, public conversations about EDC resort to shaming in order to produce a reaction. Instead, we are going to look at scaleability as a continuum that we can control. When it comes to every day carry, we think about self defense, first aid, and disaster response. These are the backbone of the subject, but not alone the answer. In light of recent events, we take a look at a few items and ...

Narrow is the gate to the Kingdom of Heaven, and many are the paths to hell. We've heard the phrase "rules for thee, but not for me," and in this episode we cover how the weak turn themselves into killers. When we exclude ourselves from moral culpability by using twisted definitions, we do not make ourselves into saints by playing tricks on terminology. One man's terrorist is another man's free...
257: A Message To Gun Culture
มุมมอง 17821 วันที่ผ่านมา
Despite public successes, the Gun Culture faced challenges in 2024. Scandal swept across much of our community as dark accusations addressed household names. Instead of digging in to the depths of these potential falls from grace, we look at the bigger picture and how it affects our own lives. The problem with heroes, is that they are mere mortals. When faced with criticism, we have at least 2 ...

The United Healthcare CEO shooting has remained on the front page of both traditional and social media for weeks now, and with all the talk, something remains missing. This was a great video. Thanks for all you do
I've had a pws mk111 long stroke that's been real good for me.
Had a blast Brother
Till next time. Maybe in texas?
Wow!
Opinions on the gen 3 Brn-180? I know it just dropped but I’m curious what your first thoughts are on it.
I want one first. Initial impression: The departure from retro-futuristic AR-180 moc to instead throw their hat in the massive pile of gas piston driven rifles diminishes its distinction from others, which might be made up in performance, but we will see.
Golf arenas 😂😂 thank you for that
words are not always easy to work with.
@ I’m glad you left it in. Makes it more enjoyable. Trying to get it in one solid take creates some real gems.
Networking/People skills > sub 2 second bill drill
why not both? both is good. People first.
I find the absolute view points exhausting Great content
thank you. But you must absolutely take everything I say as truth, without thinking about it.
@ Not saying yours comes across that way, it doesn’t I’m saying in many TH-cam videos people speak in absolutes and it can get annoying
Great review. Subscribed
Roger that, happy to have you.
Why is it always Gnosticism.
Because Gnosticism has persisted throughout the generations to lead men astray.
How dare you crush my conspiracy theory dreams with a logical view of things. Really great insights!
Cowboy bebop, episode 26: "It's all just a dream."
Not a word salad entry, more like a solid cold opener.
After the second take, I had to reduce it. Let's say there was a little voice in the back of my head.
Nice vid
Copy that.
finsihed this one while on apple podcast
Ah! thank you for popping over to help us break the YT ceiling.
Dude i knew you looked familiar. I havent seen you since we were privates getting smoke my un tabbed sgt halsey. Glad to see youre doing well brother.
That was a long, long time ago, but boy do I remember those days. How many people got shin splints from the daily runs? I thought we dropped 3 before the mid rotator. Hit me up sometime and we can reconnect.
Brownells is missing out on the 308 game. If they were to make a 308 Brn180, they would be very successful. There’s a huge niche for affordable piston modern battle-rifles. We can see how successful PSA has been with Jakl-10. Someone needs to tell Brownells that 350legend was a wrong 180 caliber, we need 308.
One thing I've learned is that going from a 5.56 version to a 308 version isn't as simple as sizing up, but if the BRN-180 release goes well, I wouldn't be surprised if they start looking into it. Since PWS makes/made the uppers, I'm suspecting much of the know-how is already there.
@ oh I totally agree, it’s not just size up. But, if PSA made Jakl into 308, I don’t see how you can’t make 308version of 180. Look, even IWI Ace galil made a 308. All of these are at or sub 2000$. A grand cheaper than scar heavy.
Solid review. Respectful tech critique; lighting. Dark rifle, dark background, side light isn't working. Early garand thumb was super bright against super absorbent dark so the gun popped. Anyway, a lil effort toward lighting brings you from b to a product. Again, mad respect,. The Unfamous Chef, Johnny R DC
Looks like I get to pack more lighting into that closet. I'll give it a go with the next gear review/chat.
Factory vs. Resale store ....iam going factory .
The BRN-180 is made by Primary Weapon Systems. And while the Jakl and BRN share traits on the grand scheme, they're quite different
Yup we will need a redo video with the BRN gen 3
Agreed. It has some pretty neat potential to challenge a few hegemonies.
The new BRN gen 3 looks good. They switched the charging handle to the left side and no longer reciprocating. Also they added some rubber coverings
I'm most interested in how the barrel and fore end attaches. That's was one of the weak points on the gen 3. So far it looks good, real good.
I wish they made Gen 3 in 308(7.62x51)
Rubber dust cover looks very bad. They need look at FN FNC spring dust cover
Like and comment, and you will feal much better
fealty much better
@texasplinking had som undergasing issues
I didn't but I could rotate the gas block adjustment nob too far.
That BRN has a cool paint job
Thanks, I did it myself.
@ tiger stripe? I really love it.
pretty easy to do, with a GWOT rattlecan method to boot.
@ beautiful
11 For the Lord spoke thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying: 12 “Do not say, ‘A conspiracy,’ Concerning all that this people call a conspiracy, Nor be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled. 13 The Lord of hosts, Him you shall hallow; Let Him be your fear, And let Him be your dread. 14 He will be as a sanctuary, But a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense To both the houses of Israel, As a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 15 And many among them shall stumble; They shall fall and be broken, Be snared and taken.” Isaiah 8:11-15
Lot of words spoken… let’s try to simplify things shall we: “We are fighting against the father of lies- the one who abides when truth is absent. We are fighting against Nihilism, the spirit of anti-Christ, whose fruits produce madness, suicide, slavery, murder and destruction. It is this spiritual wickedness that has killed God in the hearts of mankind. But God is not dead. It is only the soul of the modern man that is dead. God is waiting with open arms to embrace His Children. Perfect Truth is calling all the victims of this modern age of Nihilism: Come unto Me, all ye who are burdened and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Only seek Me out.” - Youth of the Apocalypse Don’t really gotta philosophize on this very much. No where in the Bible does it say we should be afraid or worry about the things of this world. That’s a waste of time. “Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” I think it says in the Bible that Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Or is that just a conspiracy/religious ideology too?? 😂😂😂😂 When He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd” (Matthew 9:36)
My only main gripe about PSA is their QA/QC. There are still too many current examples of that for me to want to spend my money on or rely on the Jakl.
*generic media response: Inside sources say they're aware of this and have made aggressive changes to address this issue. *what I actually know: 15 years ago, the Colt M4 I was issued shot a 3 MOA group. Every PSA I've used in the last 2 years was, at max 2 MOA, and still costs half as much. They've had improvements both from in-house and industry wide improvements.
A little verbose, but I agree with every point.
I'm still thinking of a long-worded way to say thank you.
This was one of my favorite monologues actually. Really thought provoking. Actually a really helpful framework for checking yourself because trying to assign meaning to events helps with daily life. I agree that the meaninglessness in regular life is soul crushing, and that creates a particular vulnerability when dealing with life’s crisis’s. My go-to conspiracy is that eventually, self-driving cars will link with social media and Big Brother will only allow you to drive if you’ve played nice with your words
It may not be the most surface level conversation, but the link between gnosticism and conspiracy theories explains why they're so compelling. The whole temptation of a conspiracy theory is the idea that you're part of a secret truth in the world. And it leaves people destitute, like getting out of a cult: You can do it, but it'll take great sacrifice.
First podcast I listened to and I had to come from spotify to leave this comment but please look up the pronunciation of adage lol it drove me crazy. Should be like a-dij with the a sounding like apple.
You were the pronunciation squirrel scratching at the back of my brain the whole episode. I couldn't figure out why I couldn't remember the proper pronunciation. thank you.
Brownells just released the gen 3
I saw a snippet of it. Looks pretty neat
As far as conspiracy theories go...how about the OK City bombing? That's a rabbit hole if I've ever seen/heard one.
That is a deep pit to sink into. with many branches. You could go a whole lot of different ways. But ultimately I think the perpetrators lost. They didn't achieve anything if it came to ideology. Plus, an early target supposedly was in MN. Thanks to Robert Rawson for pointing that out.
Awesome conversation yet again! Big love from MN
The goulash gave it away. Cheers from a former Minnesotan.
The nazi scientist we brought over to help us fake the moon landing were from the tribe of Dan
Meta Conspiracy Theory. Makes me wonder, what do you get when you combine all of them into one slurry.
As a BRN180 side note, Midwest Industries makes a robust rear pic-rail mounted folding stock - the M4 Beam that's essentially a milspec folding carbine type buffer tube substitute that you can mount a traditional stock on. It makes for more 'shoulder-able' usage and is better suited for a carbine or SBR.
A better stock or brace option goes a long way on this build. I've not given up on it.
Just shooting from the hip here and i feel i always watch stuff like this and get super motivated to do shit and make stuff happen but never figure out exactly how to exert the energy. Then its gone.
Okay, I know this feeling and loop, I'm there often, I've been there before. 1. Start with smaller goals. We've seen this in plenty of recent examples: make your bed, just get to the Gym, ten small goals accomplished are worth more than a single one left unaccomplished. Plus, small goals build momentum. 2. From a friend: systems over products. Building a good habit compounds over time. 3. Maybe it's not energy or know-how, but courage. Take the leap.
Darius kincade just put out a video semi related, going over road rage statistics and a personal anecdote. Gist of it is that if you edc you should have a dash camera in your vehicle.
That's a pretty good idea. There's crazy drivers outside of Russia. Just visit Arizona and you'll see 'em.
His video is spot on. Dash cams are borderline mandatory for us.
Interesting points
I hope it sparks some discussion.
@ I think it will
Will you be getting the Jakl 308 ?
I certainly am interested.
@ would love to see a video about it and I’m curious to see what you turn it into maybe a dmr or battle rifle or maybe a spr 🤷🏽♂️
@ Ben-180 gen 3 looks like it might be a contender now
Of what I saw of the BRN-180 gen 3, the external features look pretty slick, striking a sleep alternative to the MCX, but what will make or break it, is whether or not it has remedied the issues with the Gen 2.
@ I know cuz in the industry once you get a bad rep for something it’s hard to come back from it
camera is out of focus, not being a dick I am just autistic
This is really weird to say but has anyone ever told you that you remind them of Gene Wilder?
That's a new one for me. I usually get Oddball in Kelly's Heroes played by donald sutherland.
To dark get some lights man so we can see
Noted. I believe we partially remedied it in later videos Unless you don't like the dark and spooky vibe.
Some things that I keep in my car that have been very handy: 1. Norco Jumpbox- very small and holds a charge for a long time. 2. Cargo straps 3. Ratchet set May we all be a better version of ourselves in 2025
Jumper Cables. Tow Strap Cargo Straps Mas Casualty Bleeder kit.
Good stuff.
Thanks! Kept this one straight forward
@ do you roll with the flux raider as needed? How do you like it?
I really like the Flux Raider, and and have been experimenting with different contingencies.
Woah
one small step at a time.
Sweeeeet
It seems about time to get him on again.
so how would you say the POF 415 Edge compares to these rifles? i just picked one up and am new to piston guns. love your stuff!
Now, I don't have any experience with the POF 415 Edge, but I've seen them in the wild a few times. On the one hand, a rather distinct difference being the POF 415 Edge follows the cues from the AR-15 much more closely. So, ergos with the charging handle etc. Further, the height of the POF still stands out. It's kinda a 3-way at this time. While each shares the aspects of the lower, they differ vastly in the upper. It looks like the 415 weighs less than the JAKL, and more than the BRN-180. Beyond that, I'd need time.
I'm loving this show man
Glad to have you along for the ride. Good luck.
I get what this guy is saying I think, but "let the wise along you lead you" is in there for a reason. If your heart is right for Christ though, I don't think you will be in a bar all the time. Just my opinion. Doesn't make me right.
It's the gun owners that are in "crime culture" that get thrown into ,and relabeld part of "gun culture" that are used against the rest of us. We that live by morales and honor in everything we do. They will always fo this to trick the less understanding. By distraction, redirection, and out right lies. It's what we do when put against the wall that will matter. Fixing our structure by voting is not gonna fix the over all problem anymore. There roots are to deepl. God was removed, and the evil one was invited in. That was the turning point.
Can you be more specific about what you mean when it comes to "crime culture?" For example, there's a high crimes aethetic that can be found across elements of the gun culture: bank robbery, imitation of cinema, etc., but that's a large leap from inner city kids robbing a gas station or apple store and flashing cash in a music video. One is clearly an aesthetic, the other is criminal activity.
And the point of bringing this up, is that "gun culture" is primarily given a bad rapp by people who have no intention of doing anything else. The people who complain about Gun Culture demonize us for our values, our morals, not for some hoodlums causing mischief. The critics of Gun Culture complain that, because of our community, they can't get away with more infringement and control.
@@redactedllc Yep..Gangs
Weird choice, I don't see gangs holding any meaningful presence in Gun Culture. At most, gang imagery is taken up with a sense of irony.
One rule here: Don't bump the candles
Partially true: it's only the second rule.
