Really been enjoying the build videos
The sea decking foam type is easier and better looking as well as more comfortable
One small tip- when you unroll your carpet take a sharpie or a China marker and draw arrows every foot in the same direction on 12 inch centers all over the entire carpet. Make sure the carpet is all going the same direction when you carpet the deck and hatches, this ensures the pile is all going the same direction and keeps the carpet uniform. Otherwise you will see lighter sections due to pile going in all different directions.
Ballpark for asking price?
@@EASTBOUNDAWG id guess i’ll sell it around 15k. Ive had many of the 185.
Ditch the crap carpet glue and use contact cement no clamps required. You can litterly carpet a whole boat in 2 days from start to finish. I've done this several times with my dad and uncle on their various bass boats over the years.
Dude I just realized that you talk alot in ur videos. You don't do alot of showing us how to do the work and ateast trying to give us some type of know how
Those seats are some badass looking seats. Those look comfy as shjt bro. Good job on that brother
Oh and tip for ya I really hope u have the carpet going in the same direction for all them panels. Because if not some will look lighter and darker than others once u get them all in u will def notice the difference if u hadn't 😂😂😂. And I just watched the end of the video and it looks like u did get a few of them lids the wrong direction because u can see that some of them look lighter than others and that would be because the carpet wasn't installed all in the same direction. Not really a big issue but def would drive me crazy because I'm Ocd like that.
New subscriber here. Keep up the great content and much love to ya from Maryland❤❤❤. I know exactly what u mean about doing this type of work urself. I just redid my flooring and stuff in my 14ft Jon boat. It's def more complicated then it looks from other youtubers 😂😂😂. Anyways keep up the hard work and dedication towards the channel.
Boat looks awesome, your resto skills are truly impressive!👍
very nice
awesome!
I’ve really enjoyed watching this series. Congrats on a beautiful ranger!
@BamaBassin Thank you for the kind words!
Looks good!!
Nice job. Where did you get the carpet trim and how did you install it? Also, did Ranger supply you with pre-cut carpet for the bottom piece around the foot pedal floor and did it fit ok?
Carpet was ordered from Ranger. They sent bulk carpet for the deck lids and front and rear platform. Ranger had the option for the pre-cut footwell carpet and then I just glued that down. I got the carpet trim from BassBoatSeats.com.
@@impulserecreationbuyer Tx! You will probably have to replace the carpet on the bunks of trailer. You will have a better idea once you launch the boat. It is an easy fix and make sure you inspect the boards and use stainless steel staples to fasten the carpet if it needs replacing.
get ya a couple project jet skis next!! Really enjoyed this video.. currently restoring my 89 Stratos 201 Pro
@@foothillsoverland9878 i may have to pick one up!
I encourage you to change the title of the video. I clicked on it to find out what the best fish finder is. Wasted some of my life watching the whole thing.
My 2005 185VS came with a Garmin Fishfinder 240. And, yeah, they don't make them any more. She's looking great! you have done an awesome job restoring her! Still can't believe you're going to sell her!
Definitely go with the Yamaha additives!
Definitely go with Garmin 106 sv at Bass Pro for 1k.93 is good 😊,but for 300 more get a lot better unit.
Where did you get the Ranger sticker?
Bought the ranger decals from Ranger! They do not give them away! 😂
Remember ultrex pairs with hummingbird
If you keep the boat, make sure you get spot lock on trolling motor. It's like have a helper in the boat operating it for you
That's what I'm running
My fuel tank doesn't have any over the top supports, it has side brackets on tank
Rangers came with dual pro brand. So what did you take out?
there wasnt an onboard charger on this boat when I got it. It was super rough, check out some of the past videos where you can see its original condition.
Lowrance has the new eagle now that I installed at the steering wheel of my boat and will be in stalling the active live lowrance on the trolling motor next👍
Wish I had a base boat
I would definitely keep the boat and Maxxum .
Looks great man! Best deal out there on graphs is at Bass Pro on the Garmin Echomap UHD series (699 for a 9" / 999 for a 10") . They have a UHD 2 now and they are blowing out the older model. Look on Garmin and the diff is minimal and mostly around improvements to the wifi network. Garmin uses a hard wire network also that uses standard ethernet cables no no crazy $50 cables. That Garmin also will run the Live Scope 2 for the next person and they will want that. Garmin, imo, offers the best over all package of value. Transducer on the trolling motor is a not big deal as far as cables. Lots of cable mgt solutions. People are going to put a transducer on the trolling motor. Those universals like in the Fortrex are 83/200 frequencies which is just traditional sonar. All the Live Scope/ActiveTarget type sonar which most want require a kinda big cable. Anything for Down Imaging (desired up front) will take a diff transducer. That transducer wire at the console is for a Lowrance. They have two diff connectors. That fits stuff like the older "Hook" series but probably works on the new Eagle series they have. They have bigger connectors on the higher end HDS stuff. Check grounds on the console light. It is a ground 50% of the time for electrical issues in a boat I bet.
Get a hold of Van over at BBT (Bass Boat Technologies) for your electronics mount at bow & console. You will need new wiring for your electronics. Put a new shoot through hull transducer in your bilge area. There may be an old one in there. Boats looking good. The trailer needs some TLC now. They make caps for your dash so if you take the clock out you can snap a cap in place.
Wow! BBT has found a niche for sure! Thanks for the recommendation!
Do not install the battery charger. Mount it on a carpeted board and buy quick disconnect ports. This removes the weight and space out and can be carried in a bag if you travel. You have to spend enough to ensure unit compatibility with whichever you go. If you are going to flip it then don’t buy anything. Whomever buys it will do his own thing and will not pay for your vision.
Buy a nice set of aluminum wheels and new tires and call it good. If you want to add value…Hydraulic jack plate, power poles. Universal tools that a tour buyer will want. Electronics need to match trolling motor so do not spend a dime on either unless you go all the way with compatibility and link.
Power Poles are a game changer! I have had hydraulic jack plates in past and loved them. Wish this came with it!
A recessed foot tray for the trolling motor is also a good touch for the next owner. Any idea when you’ll put it up for sell and where? I may be interested.
I am going to skip the recessed foot well since the carpet is completed. It would have been a cleaner look with the wires. I am in MN and I am guessing i’ll list it within the month of July. Then on to the next project! 😂
@@impulserecreationbuyer well, whenever you list it, I’ll be sure to get in contact with you. I’m in MD and been looking for a good used boat.
Did you take pics or video the making of the seat base?
The seat base is pretty simple. The fuel cell hold down is what supports the plywood at the back of the boat in addition to the fuel cell itself and the front of the seat base is screwed into the gel coat front lip. Then seats sit on top of that carpet wrapped wood. Seats get screwed into the boat through the back. Centar part of the Cushions are removable via velcro.
Waiting to see how you do the seat base. Mine is 2001 R81VS. Same trailer you have. For the rivets and hinges i shaved the carpet due to the thickness of 20 oz
I didn’t have an issue with carpet based on its thickness, just getting the finish cuts around the boats curves was time consuming.
I use 1x2 with clamps
You may never get it back. Wrap it!
Where's the water
I took my prop to my boat dealer and they sent it in to get straightened and refreshed. When I got it back it looked like it was brand new and performed perfectly. I paid $225 for the service and shipping. The new replacement prop cost $1000 for my boat.
Yes 23 p is what that means. You can run it like that, they need to be pretty balanced so a bad ding is one blade is worse than small dings in all three. You will lose a little performance top end. Make sure the tach works and look up WOT for your motor. That is the only other consideration for the prop. If you spin it past WOT easily that is not good. That is a very good Yamaha, both the 150 and 175 are solid. I would almost think you would spin a 24p prop on that setup.
Thanks for the info! I’ll get into the motor once im done bringing everything else back to life! Haha
Nice work! The old Rangers are such great boats. I just restored a 354V and love it.
Great work!
Get some 1x2 lumber. Use two spring clamps with the 1x2's to hold your carpet in place while the glue dries. No need for a million clamps that way.
Some people are just smarter! Haha
Can’t wait to see her when you’re done !!!
She's coming back to life! Good job!!
I have the 2001 R81VS 18ft9inch . Looks very close to your, I had the front and rear deck carpet replaced with 20 oz carpet. I need new seats like yours, I'm waiting to see how you attack the seat platform project with Plywood and braces. Keep the videos coming
Cracks in gel coat always come back unless dealt with. Citrus strip and a new angled putty blade with edges softened with 320 to lessen gouges will deal with adhesive glue , heat or sun can get it to that sweet spot where it becomes bubble gum . Clear epoxy might be worth a test , 2 layers rolled on with cat paw or foam roller to form a base to paint on or get gloss while sealing the cracks . Splashwell can be a good test area . Foot panel ; use an old Alum Street sign , primed and coated with Herculiner bed liner you can roll on . Floors can be done with same product to tie it all together. Vinyl wrap material has come a long ways , could have labels made with color and then use same material to cover the faded stuff . I’ve also painted right over gel coat if prepped and de waxed and de greased . 2 part Interlux “Perfection “ is $100 / Qt. Kit , rolls on and is fuel proof . Scotchbrite between coats until it looks like it was sprayed , “roll and tip “.
it's getting there......can't wait to see next episode......
Lowrance has new eagle tripleshot
I like that option or the lowrance reveal. I think its a hook series!
I have a 1996 354 XT. I want to sand and restore it, but i am being told the jellcoat is not thick enough to sand it. Does anyone know if this is tgue or not?
Well if its already pretty rough whats the worst that could happen? There are some products that you wipe on and it “restores” the gelcoat too! Maybe try that option? This is brutal!
You're doing great! Keep going!!
The hull is designed to run lead acid or agm batteries , lithium are light weight so they will change the way the boat runs . If you are going to use lithium , you will have to add weight to the back of the boat to make up the difference for the boat to perform the why it was designed to do .
Thats a good point. I assumed people always want to cut weight, but I am not doing tournament fishing or looking to trim up and fly across the lake in record time!
That is not true. The hull is designed to run at an optimum transom weight, but every motor has a different weight with regards to horsepower, brand and 4 stroke vs 2 stroke. I have the exact same boat with a Yamaha 150 4 stroke. I went with 3 Ionic lithium batteries, and it made the boat handle soooo much better, more speed and better hole shot and I am sure it is better for the hull and trailer as it is now about 85lbs lighter.
