I was just promoted to senior at my last job when we hired a new person. They wanted me to train the new hire on my old job. For some reason, my job was dumb enough to “forget” that I didn’t have access to everything including hourly rates. I saw this new hire was getting paid way more than me AFTER I got promoted and did WAY more than her. I asked for an another raise and was denied. I put in my two weeks noticed the next day. I’m not gonna be worked to the ground just to make less than someone doing half the work I was doing. Fuck that!

Early days of mobile phones. Had a job that required me to be out of the office a lot. I got a brick sized mobile phone because the wife was pregnant and I could receive a call if she went into labour, regardless of where I was. Each call to the mobile was charged regardless of it being an incoming or outgoing call back then. My employer wanted my number. I asked if they're prepared to pay for part of the phone service. They said no, so I said no. Apparently I was the bad one. I pointed out that I'm not prepared to create a precedent where staff are paying for their resources. They tried to argue back that I have the phone already. I said sure but if you, the employer wants me to use my car for work purposes, they pay. The phone is no different. It was about 6 months later when people in the field were issued with work phones and they said there's no personal calls. I reminded my employer about how they wanted free calls on my phone and they acted like I was the bad one. I asked them to consider apologising for their unreasonable behaviour towards me. Their knee jerk reaction was to literally tell me to fuck off. I said, yeah, I didn't think you'd have realised your mistake. They did later apologise for the swearing and admitted they were wrong to ask to use my phone for free. They said that they considered me a friend. I should have left it there but couldn't help saying that I'm friendly but I'm never going to be their friend when I'm being paid to turn up everyday. We never recovered from that. Our dealings were always frosty from that time on.

I would love to see a company that actually backs their employees. A majority of the times, companies will back customers and ravage their employees. Just mentioning what I have seen from experience!!!
