This pool is also called Turquoise Pool. There is a main pool and waterfall further up the hike, but I needed a rest here to catch my breath for a bit first. This was a tiring hike, the elevation tires me out!

Definitely visit Blue Temple FIRST, before visiting White Temple. I did it the wrong way and was underwhelmed at Blue Temple 😅

From Chiang Mai Bus Terminal #3 (I took a Grab here from The Park Society Hostel in Chiang Mai). To Chiang Rai bus terminal #1. I bought the bus tickets online a few days in advance, while I was in Chiang Mai. You will get a free, small bottle of water and a small pack of biscuits at your seat on the bus. There is a toilet at the back of the bus (3 hours+ bus ride), and I suggest you do not select seats near the back because the toilet will start to smell after a few people start using it 😅 always choose the seats up front 😊

After you visit Wat Huay Pla Kang temple in Chiang Rai, you can walk downhill to Cafe Lalitta. The entry fee to the waterfall garden can be used to cover part of the cost of drinks/meal at the cafe. The iced coffee was the best we tasted in Chiang Rai, so fragrant!

Frankly, I liked their noodle soup more than their yentofu (in Singapore we call it yong tau fu). They still serve a piece of pig's blood in their yentofu, like long, long ago in Singapore.

We call it carrot cake ("chai tao kueh" in Hokkien dialect) in Singapore, usually cooked with bits of preserved radish. And it is available in a white version or a black version (with sweet, dark soya sauce) in Singapore. Radish is known as "white carrot" in Chinese.
