    I bought the same bike. Im also a larger rider. Slightly older guy lol. Been wanting to get Stegpegs. Curious if you can tell me how many rubber blocks is best? Are they hard to get used to?

    • @TomKDirtMuppet

      In terms of getting used to them I'd say the biggest thing is that your feet will be set a little wider on the footpegs, and the toes will be naturally a little more inward, which is a good thing for trail riding, and also why I got a bigger brake tip. One long ride is all it takes I bought extra pucks and longer bolts for my last bike, but never ended up using them, the one puck seems to be enough. If you are mostly dualsporting then extra pucks may be of benefit - less body movement on a dualsport. Riding Enduro I think they will get in the way if they are any bigger. The way they are now, the flat inner part of the boot is on the aluminium bracket, and the puck pushes against the last 1/4 of the boot just as it starts to round back around the calf, if that makes sense.

    • @TomKDirtMuppet

    • @WASemiHardEnduro

      Wow that’s some low gearing. 13/45 works super well for me. Remember these new bikes have completely different internal ratios, and they’re very close to the old bike’s 13/50.

    • @TomKDirtMuppet

      @@WASemiHardEnduro you have a very good point about internal ratios - I automatically put on a larger rear because that's been my go-to on many bikes. it does feel pretty low with the 50, I barely use the 1st gear. The second did feel a little tall with 45, and I overshot with the 50, that's for sure. Next round I'll probably go 47 or 48. Good thing gearing is easy to change :)

    • @2fly1974

      I've got the Husqvarna te300 pro and these engines are so good I can make the 45t work in the real technical areas but it's mostly what I do. The 48t was perfect without losing top end. I had a 50t laying around and right away knew it would've been too much . I've got a 18 Gasgas xc300 that I went from a 48t to a 50t because the gas gas just didn't lug off the bottom like the new bike. It's only money bud it's good to have options...lol. On a side note my brother has got an 89 kdx200 but needs new power valve gears I think but it ran good for awhile and is plenty capable but its just getting hard to find parts

    • @TomKDirtMuppet

      @@2fly1974 nice, always good to see a KDX around, but yes parts are becoming a problem. I guess you had a little time to figure out your next bike. Surprised you didn't like the suspension, most people rave about the 2024 CC forks and like the shock as well.

    • @TomKDirtMuppet

      Suspension was not bad, and probably would work well for a lot of people, especially with a revalve. But it was much too stiff in the forks for the terrain i ride, and how i ride it. If i picked up the pace, it felt really good, but i'm not fast at all, mostly 2nd gear, so the action was beating me up. For GNCC, hare scramble, that sort of stuff i think it would do well, not for these trails though. With the clickers backed out a lot of force was being transfered to the spring and it felt spongy. It is amazing how much difference it made. One of the trails in the video (i did not post it complete though, just a few snippets) i was 25% faster with new suspension over stock, and i wasnt even thinking about timing it, just turned on the gopro and rode it as normal. Then i checked on my computer. Arm pump is reduced, it is deflecting much less. So for my weight, and my terrain, it made a big difference. Still have to figure out the oil level to get another inch of travel out of the forks though. At 350 cc now, will try 300 today.

    • @TomKDirtMuppet

      Thank you! The camera is a GoPro12, but it took me a little while to understand how to make it look good - out of the box it did not do great. It came down to doing some work on the computer in GyroFlow and Premiere. I capture in 8:7 4k/60 with stabilization turned off, and then stabilize/reframe in GyroFlow, because that allows for better result - more cropping can be done than in-camera, and that can be adjusted. Another important thing I found is that TH-cam uses different codecs for 1080p and 1440p - the latter is a lot better, so I upload in 1440 - even though 1080 looks good enough on my computer, the platform will rob quality.

    • @TomKDirtMuppet

      It is a 95 KDX200. I like it a lot - it has very easy power down low, i rarely eat it if i make a throttle mistake. If you wind it out it can rip, but i have it jetted for low-to-mid performance, so up high it is mellow. I did gold valves in the forks and the shock (both old style KYB units) and they are really good for this 1st and 2nd gear stuff. As it stands right now i can't outride this bike, so will keep it for the foreseeable future, or until i can't get parts anymore. I rode a KTM300, and it was awesome, but i can't use it to its full potential, nor would i want to keep throwing 13K against rocks all day...
