Redneck life, ugh played once, was ok, but hit too close to redneck home upbringing 😂
I mostly play solo. So that impacts if I will buy and or play ut a lit. Next I must know who I will play it with. So family, parties, friends, or meetup games night. When I see or hear about a game I add it to my look into list, and read or watch videos. Only later will I decide if it goes on the must buy list. So to play, often it is a matter of learning before an event,or whatever I have energy for, theme will impa t my choice as well. I usually get stuck on a series for a while. Final Girl or Legendary (have Marvel,Buffy, James Bond). Low spoons = A gentle rain or Snowfall over mountains.
Not at all surprised to find you have all three of the Q games I have (Quacks, Queendomino, Qwirkle)
You have named it incorrectly. Says R's (pt 1)
Thank you! Too many videos on the back burner apparently. I am in the middle of editing part 1 of the R's.. LOL
@@themeeplesociety No probs. Also says R's in the second line of the description
@ well naturally! LOL
Great show!
Clever idea for a video!
Have found the team version of Landmarks is better with larger groups
@@david6294 still haven’t gotten to try the team version, we’re hoping to give that one a shot on New Year’s Eve.
I live in St. Louis which is home to Miniature Market, so I try to get my games through them and pick them up at one of their brick-n-morter stores. If that fails, my preference is Game Nerdz, Tabletop Merchant, the publisher's website, and lastly Amazon. MM's second store just reopened at a new location about 3 weeks ago.
TH-cam Premium is SO worth the cost. If I were to start culling the dozen subscription streaming services we have, YT Premium would be the last one standing.
Thanks for the show! I see two of particular interest, Cascadia and Sagrada.
Half of the reboxong was off canera 😅
PLUtonium not Utonium 😂 Next time you guys come over, I am going to have Powerpuff Girls in the background.
Wheel of Fortune is based on Hangman
Watching the struggle with the Powerpuff girls names and the whole game again was hilarious 😂😂
Love these! Especially Sagrada!!!!
I love so many of your picks. Great games.
carpenter = dexterity, resource management, engine building (boulding up from frame, eletric piping, drywall, finishing touches until complete) - also building on learned skills. worker placement - in the form of woker allocation of management if 40 years in. I would have to hear more about the wife's job to better guess on the mechanisms
My job is such a scattered mess of different jobs and responsibilities, it will be hard to come up with just a couple mechanics!
I am a warehouseman. So I would be a " resource management."
Yes, it's Australia David
Trio and Scout are both excellent. Scout isn't trick taking. It's about getting rid of your cards by playing sets (eg. 3-3-3) or sequences (eg. 3-4-5)
@@david6294 oh… so it’s a card shedding. We definitely need to check this one out. Both of them, in fact.
@@themeeplesociety Needs at least 4 players
how long didi you do the sorting? :D
Definitely took a bit... a couple hours probably.
At least the Qs will be quick
LOL Yes! It's only 20 some odd games... rather than 80. It will be quick! LOL
@@themeeplesociety 20. Was excepting less than 10.
That is an impressive collection in the intro. Love it!
Thank you!
it was Challengers. And I agree. Planet Unknown is way better
Kickstarter should be an exception to the rule as it's a limited time only purchase.
Random Boardgame Banter is great segment title.
Hues and Cues is fun with a large group. Played it with seven players and was enjoyed by all
Pit is a great game! It is in regular rotation for the family game nights. I also own Poo, but never played it yet
I have used shelf liner too.
My parents had Pente, I looooved it when I was a kid!! Same version (the rectangular one). Oh the nostalgia 😀
Great Job Guys, was a great rules refresher.
Thank you!
Spheres of Influence is my grail game. I spent $150 on Chaos in the Old World.
I have had several grail games, but I've managed to acquire all of them over the years. The most expensive one was "The Longest Day", and it ran me $100. That was back in the 1990s. It is both satisfying, as well as a little sad, that I don't have any more grail games I am yearning for.
We have ever only had a few grail games... and have now acquired all of them. It is sad not to have that one game you are "looking" for, though I guess the expansion for Bruges could be considered a Grail game.
BLANK SLATE is a staple for our family game nights. It is a great game and a big hit!
@@gdcadad We are looking forward to trying this one!
I am planning on getting the new 4 player version just to add more cards.
22:13 - I really wish you guys had explained where everything went. :( I guess I just need to figure it out for myself...
@@davidgannon5388 I’m sorry… I would’ve loved to have done a full re-boxing of it, but it was a two hour ordeal and we were guessing on most of it. I’m hoping that we showed enough in the sped up parts that that helped you out a little bit though!
@@themeeplesociety I had to figure it out for myself! I realized that my large money went in one of the boxes I was using for the story/solo cards. I'm still confused about the two Rim Space boxes.
17:47 - The _Artful Dodger_ was a 2014 "Game Booster" with model number FIRE002S. Unlike the 2015 boosters, _Esmeralda_ (FIRE010) and _Jetwash_ (FIRE011), AD didn't have the "Coachworks" branding. Its box is 1mm longer and wider than the other two, and it only came with 1 Ship Card, 1 Drive Card, and 1 Plastic Ship. The other boosters (both from 2015) each came with ship upgrades, 39 tokens, dice, 1 story card, 1 setup card, and Jetwash came with a Leader card (Zoe). The _Artful Dodger_ ship is not Series IV, so there is no copyright info about the video game, QMx, nor about permission. The Series IV ships were much more accurate to the show and movie, which is why the better painted models in the Veterans Upgrade look better. As I recall, and from the model number, _AD_ was the very first booster for the game.
10:23 - "Brittle" is right! My Alliance Cruiser came with one of the tallest spires snapped in half!
I began trying a few of the Pandemic titles to prepare everyone for the day I remove Legacy from its shrink wrap. My wife and I played Siberia a couple of times and thought it was ok. After that I played the solo variant for Fall of Rome and I freakin loved it. Reign of Cthulhu is coming out for Halloween and I think I'll get the kids to join in on that one. Cooperative is their favorite way to play. If all goes well that shrink wrap should be coming of Legacy very soon.
Fall of Rome is easily my favorite, but I have played the legacy games 6 times and feel the lower the season number the better the game. The Star Wars version is the only one I haven't played, because I don't like the IP after movies 8 and 9.
My favorite Pandemic game is Reign of Cthulhu followed by Clone Wars because I like those themes and I absolutely hate the "Pandemic" theme beyond what can be imagined.
Terror Below is basically Tremors. Clever idea of doing a pick up and deliver list. Many of these I own.
Greetings from California. 😊 That was so fun, thank you for presenting it in a delivery style. My favorite pick up and deliver games are: Istanbul, Via Nebula and Isle of Trains. You have one of my "grail games" Cinque Terre. The only person I know who owns it is Mike DiLisio from the Dice Tower. Keep on delivering...
Thank you! This was SOOO much fun to plan and film! I am hoping we can come up with more creative ideas like this!
And my top 5 "Pick up and Deliver" games would be (according to the definition on BGG) 5. Leaving Earth: (though I don't consider this as a pick up and deliver game, BGG does, so it goes in this spot) An excellent game of space exploration and the space race. I play it solo mainly, but it can play up to 4 for people who want a very thinky game. 4. Merchants and Marauders: This is probably the closest implementation of the "Pirates" computer game done in board game fashion. Yeah, you can be a "pirate", but in every game I've played, any player who's gone pirate has never won. So we jokingly call it Merchants and Merchants. 3. Spike: A game that is "Ticket to Ride" adjacent. It has you actually play tracks, after collecting cards to claim routes, but they you move your train to grab goods and take them to another location and earn X amount of money for doing so. Have the most money at the end, and you win! 2. Nippon Rails: (and by relation, Empire Builder) One of those "Crayon" train games from the Empire Builder line of games. I actually won my copy of Nippon Rails, some 35 years after first playing it up in Alaska, by placing 3rd in a "Empire Builder on the Empire Builder" event that was run a couple years ago. (It was great fun!) 1. Merchant of Venus: (1st edition) The ultimate in galactic exploration and "pick up and deliver"! The game is always different, and you get a different level of engagement if you play a shorter game to $1000 vs. a medium length game of $2000, vs. a long game of $3000, and an epic game of $4000! Honorable mentions go to: Empire Builder, which I do not own, but have played extensively over the years Horrified: American Monsters, because it's a good game and BGG says it is pick up and deliver Flash Point: Fire Rescue, which is a great game of fighting fires, but BGG says it is a pick up and deliver.
Good to see some classical older games on the top 10 lists from both of you!
Impressive collection
14:32 - I was the player AFTER you, butthole!!! 😂 You kept messing ME up!!!
Didn't mess you up to bad, you still won. I got 1 Wizard in, and only 3 potions filled because I was to busy trying to uncover my wizards and not getting cards to be able to do that. So🤪🤣
@gregbauerleTMS yes, all of that is true, except any implication that it was my fault! You had Mila AND your Chriminy wife "helping" you!! 😂 Next time, try playing without them!!!
It was fun playing with you guys. Thanks for bringing and teaching Reef Project that was my favorite new game of Retreat. River of Gold is great and so is Windmill Valley so hope you enjoy both.
I'm on the waiting list, so maybe I'll get to go someday. Thank you for sharing your experience. It sounds like a wonderful time was had by all. ❤
Fingers crossed you will get that email from Tom in time for next years event!
Bought Landmarks recently and it went down well with my group
It's a good one! We are hoping to make it work for our next Live 24 hour marathon.
Thanks for sharing your experience! You will really like playing Intrepid - definitely a favorite. I love playing it solo or co-op. Enjoy!
@@drvinnyboombatz9094 As it would happen… We are actually playing it right this minute. Enjoying it so far!
