    Damn, this series was just a masterpiece! This scene alone is outstanding in every possible way and something most shows never achieve even once ... and in B5, jewels like this are to be found a plenty! AMAZING!!!

    The way Londo paused for so long in that last handshake/arm grasp. It's like he was trying to make it so he'd remember G'Kar as his friend, knowing that what was coming might rob him of that, either through action or thought. One last look at an old friend, and the pain in his eyes as he did so.

    Still gives me chills because of the context between these two characters. The evolution of their relationship is one of the many wonderful gems in this show.

    I tend to forget this one because overall I found S5 weaker than the rest, but... Wow! When the script, the acting, and the direction all come together. Katsulas set a very high bar for G'Kar and I hope JMS finds someone who meets or exceeds for the new series. I think Jurasik is still alive, not sure if he would be reprising Lindo or not, but an equally high bar.

      The drakh wanted to do the same to Sheridan and Delans son David if I remember the final book properly. While the drakh keeper controlled Londo, it's revealed that their is telepathic link between the host and the keeper. London also learns that drinking heavily it could sedate the keeper for a few minutes and give someone the chance to kill the host. Londo asks G'kar to kill him when he has drank enough to prevent the keeper from taking over David Sheridan, however in the final moments of londos life, the keeper regained consciousness to kill Gkar but not soon enough to stop Gkar from finishing the job. From here the drakh plan to take over the alliance failed and then moved forward with the backup plan of launching a bioattack on earth. The spinoff "Crusader" was supposed to finish off that stroy line but the show was canceled

    this is the whole reason that remaking b5 would be so hard....at times it has iconic dialog, and enough acting power to pull it off. Even what? 20 years later? maybe 30....this exchange brings up a flood of interactions between the two characters that managed to stick in viewers memories all this time...

    These two were the heart and soul of Babylon 5. Such great Material so beautifully realized by these amazing actors. Sad that Katsulas is no longer with us, but Jurasik is as great as ever: both as Londo in the recent animated film and I also tremendously enjoyed his reading of Straczynski's autobiography. And to quote Straczynski: "If you say you have no choice, you are always making a choice!"

    I always think Ashur is a good bloke who was underestimated and scorn by the others... But I realised what a demented piece of shit he is after his first betrayal(I didn't complete 1st season at the to begin with for some reason just watched it halfway, I finish Gods of Arena first, and come to first season later)

    To those who have never watched _Babylon 5_ this scene has no meaning. But to all those of us who have watched and loved this show over the years, we all understand that this is one of the most emotionally impactful moments ever shown between two of the most intriguing, growing, _living_ fictional characters ever put on screen, and this is one of _the most powerful_ scenes in all of television history. All of it performed perfectly by amazingly talented "character actors" who never received _nearly_ the proper amount of respect and praise that they absolutely deserved. Two people from species locked in perpetual hatred of the other, each species guilty of horrible atrocities against the other. Kosh: _"They are alone. They are a dying people. We should let them pass."_ Sinclair: _"The Narn, or the Centauri?"_ Kosh: _"Yes."_ Two people who started out as deadly enemies, finding out that they are destined and prophesied to both die with their hands locked around each other's throat... and yet still managing to gradually grow to become first respectful rivals, then grudging allies, and finally dear friends, all the while still knowing that they are destined, for whatever reason, to die at each others' hands. But _we_ as viewers realize that this mutual death will actually be one final act of sweet mercy, one friend granting the other a release from eternal tormented slavery. I am not at all ashamed to say that when I watched this as a 22 year old man when it first aired back in 1998, I cried. And watching again 25 years later, I still tear up all over again.

    For all the flaws of Season 5 it has some great moments. The entire Londo and G'Kar arc is fantastic and brought real closure to their relationship which added so much to their characters and this moment really just fantastic that it makes their sudden friendship in S4 a lot more believably.

    As much as I love Babylon 5, and Jurasik and Katsulas do a wonderful job... no. This is a bridge too far. Mollari is literally responsible for mass murder on a planetary scale. Not indirectly, DIRECTLY. He set things in motion on purpose, stood by and did nothing. The fact he feels bad about it doesn't fix that, and one of his victims shouldn't stand there and forgive him.

    • @maxacorn
      @maxacorn ปีที่แล้ว

      and that just shows you how far they've both come. the g'kar of old would've loved to see londo march off to be a slave. but this isn't the g'kar of old. this g'kar knows londo is truly sorry for what he's done and he is big enough to say "i forgive you." kosh taught g'kar this lesson that someone has to break the cycle of hate between them. someone has to be better. as he said to sinclaire, both races were dying because they couldn't let go of their hate for each other. but here, these two men, leaders of their peoples, decided to break the cycle, at least for each other.

    • @Spike-Prime
      @Spike-Prime ปีที่แล้ว

      @maxacorn Yeah I know, I get the idea and I followed this story from the beginning to the end, but think about it. This is like a holocaust survivor forgiving a nazi general and they become pals. That's the equivalent here. I think it'd work better if he couldn't exactly "forgive" but rather just let go of their mutual past to move on. It's a subtle difference, but important I think.

    These two are literally the only reason to watch the fifth season. The telepath war and colony were super uninteresting and were only dragged on cause otherwise they didn't have enough for a full season. The keepers were introduced to continue the cycle. It was literally just there to cement the themes of peace and war throughout the series. They became complacent because of too much peace and the keepers/drahk reflamed wars whenever they could. Continuing the mission of the shadows. Luckily they didn't completely just hit the restart button (for example, the new alliance survives everything. four seasons of build up to it I sure as fuck hope it wouldn't collapse so easily) and throw away everything but I really wish it had just ended at season 4. It was a good ending The Keepers taking control of Londo and the Centauri is the only big kick in the nuts. After everything he had been through. He just became a puppet for everything he fought against and fought to stop. Gkar kills Londo not as an enemy but the save Londo from his suffering and the centauri as a whole
