i read 11 books in the month of june and tell which ones are worth it | june reading wrap up
I am so happy to report that I ended my reading slump in June and read 11 books! I got caught up on new releases from my favorite authors and also read the most popular books of 2023 & 2024. I read a variety of different genres including: romance, fiction, romance, fantasy, horror & mystery thrillers. I even started a super popular YA Mystery/Thriller series, The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes.
Comment below if you have read any of these or if any of them are on your TBR!

    no because i was confused too how pip didn't realize it was jason bell- like GIRLLL cmon 😭 she knew Jason had a history of cheating on his wife. the last murder happened on the same night Andie died, and on that day Jason was at a dinner party when he left in the middle.... hmmm ?!! "practically" a police officer- we know Jason is well connected. Pip knew he was close to both Daniel Da Silva and Detective Hawkins. We learned in the first book that Jason was a shithead when it came to how he talked to his daughters. Also, couldn't Andie just tell her dad or mom if she felt like Daniel was a murderer?! I mean, I'm sure her dad knows more police officers too lmao- and he's rich and well connected, as I said. But if her dad was the murderer- SHE OBVIOUSLY CAN'T SAY ANYTHING. DUH. OF COURSE SHE WOULD WANT TO GET AWAY. Like it all clicked for me the second I read the email from Andies second account. I was like "ITS JASON BELL" meanwhile pip "its daniel da silva". i was like "girl you're smarter than this" but it was probably just that Holly didn't want to reveal it until Pip got kidnapped lmao.

    I got to see Riley Sager and get Middle of the Night(4.25) signed while I was in Houston. I really enjoyed this book. I like a slow-burn mystery with a dual timeline and the whole paranormal /cult aspect I always find intriguing. And while the ending wasn't a WOW moment, I did like the whole buildup to the reveal Loved Just For the Summer(5.0) & Funny Story(4.5) & Yellowface(5.0) I'm about to start Bad Blood in The Naturals series... Really enjoying my time with this series: The Naturals(4.5), Killer Instinct(4.5), All In(5.0)

    Tobias Hawthorne also choose her because there was so many factors about her that make her perfect for the role. Like you said she is technically a target but she also was in the perfect place at the wrong time. Toby was very fond of Avery’s mother and he knew how incredibly talented and intelligent she is. Tobias also was just a bit of a backstabber in general.

    I really didnt like this one. The more i think about it and how much I enjoyed the first and last, it makes me more and more angry. I just felt this one was an unfair mystery. By that, i felt like the ending popped out of nowhere and there wasnt really a way for you to figure it out more than a chapter or so before Pip did. I got played in the first one, so I was determined not to get played again. I took notes, highlighted bits, sumarized every interview, looked for clues in every picture, put sticky tabs of various colors to mark different things, came up with theories, etc. I got so into it. Then at the last minute, none of those clues even mattered and i wasted my time trying to figure it out. I just felt betrayed by the author since in the first one, I saw part of it coming from early on. I knew it was the teacher from about halfway. But how was my question. Then the sister was a surprise, but I feel like i could have figured it out. In the 3rd, i actually did figure it out before Pip. This one, i just felt betrayed. Also, this is Pip's worst book. She's annoying in the first and last but has some redeeming qualities. But in this one, i hated her. She's got her stupid podcast where she spills people's dirty laundry, then acts suspicious when people dont want to tell her stuff. I remember the one kid who seemed to want to help find Jamie, but he didnt want his parents to find out he threw a party. So he asked her not to put it on her podcast. Even while talking to him, she has the full intention of making it public. She also does as much lying as anyone else, probably more. He jumps to too many conclusions. If two stories dont perfectly match up, that doesnt mean someone is automatically lying. They may just be working with different info. Jamie might very well have went to Nat's place and she didnt know. Or whatever guy could have thought it was Jamie but it was actually someone else, like the drug dealer guy. Also, she never has real consequences. The very end is the only consequence, but Stanley paid the price. In the first, her dog died as a consequence. In the last, it was just crazy. But she had consequences. In this one, the only consequence is people not liking her because she's horrible to almost everyone. Like when she pours the drink on that guy. #1, like i said, she had no proof he was actually lying. He could have truly believed what he said. #2. You pour a drink on some guy in the school cafeteria and have no consequences? Not sent to the principal? Not yelled at by the guy or his friends? No nasty rumors going around the school? Nothing? She was insufferable. In the last book, she was a lot better

  • @gemstonejasper17
    @gemstonejasper17 หลายเดือนก่อน

    See, Pip has absolutely no instinct for self-preservation. And shes so mean to people, accusing them of murder and stuff on her podcast (books 2 and 3) while also making wild leaps of logic. I hate her so much. Thats why book 2 was a total miss for me. She didnt have any real consequences for most things. Book 3 was great tho😂

  • @gemstonejasper17
    @gemstonejasper17 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I hate the use of past tense as evidence. If someone in my life goes missing, I'm screwed. One example is that my paternal grandparents are alive and well. I just dont live with them anymore. So when im talking about them to coworkers, I use the past tense. "My grandpa was such a storyteller. He told me about his time as a volunteer firefighter." Or "my grandma was such a good cook. She always made the best of everything." Sometimes I realize i used the past tense and clarify to whoever im talking to that they're still alive lol. Ive asked my friends and family to go to bat for me if thats ever used against me because that's just how my brain works. So (having read the whole series and hating what im about to say), Pip had no reason to suspect Jason just based on past tense. She has other reasons, but past tense isn't one. Like imagine you're innocent and your kid is missing. Maybe they havent been in the house for a few days or more. That is a past tense situation. She used to be such a lively member of the house and we hope she will be again. I used to listen to my grandpa's stories, but i dont as often anymore since we live far away. Anyway, just needed to rant bc every time that gets brought up, I think about how im screwed if anyone in my life goes missing😅

    I do wonder where Jamie was going while pretending to go to work, and also Jamie is a very weak human to have fallen that deep and hard for Layla virtually... I am still pretty blown away about how Charlie responded "hello Pip" to Pip using Connor's art IG account, that was pretty crazy. How did he know it was her using that account? I also started suspecting Charlie & Flora the new neighbours pretty early on! They were too new and too nice and sus af lol! I couldn't believe Pip had the balls to blackmail her new history teacher. It's kind of crazy how people still speak to Pip after all her tactics haha. UGH Lauren and Ant and then Ant's dad at the end were INFURIATING. Also I'm super confused about why Lauren's ex Tom gave Pip that fake story about seeing Jamie. What was the point of that? I couldn't believe Max Hastings got off. I was hoping there'd be more details about the conclusion of the court case and why the jury made that decision.
