Baked Panko Buns with Sausage & Cheese
In this video I share with you how to make Baked Panko Buns with sausage & cheese. These buns are inspired by Japanese korokke, whereby after baking, the perfect golden-brown bread crumbs creates a lovely crunch as you bite into the pillowy soft bun within. Of course, you’re free to tweak sausage + cheese to other filling of your choice. ;)
For the bun recipe, you will need:
* 200 g high protein bread flour
* 40 g greek or unsweetened plain yogurt chilled
* 120 g cold milk
* 16 g sugar
* 1 tsp instant dried yeast mix with 1/2 tbsp water
* ½ tsp salt
* 12 g unsalted butter softened at room temp
And you will require additional ingredients for the topping:
* 1 egg
* 1/2 cup panko
* 8 pieces of Korean Vienna sausages
* Kewpie mayonnaise
* 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
* Dried parsley flakes
Makes 8 buns.

is it just me, I see so many similarities of Korean food with South Indian food, we have ariselu(Telugu), which is similar to this, it is called differently in different South Indian languages. even Korean vegetable pancake is similar to utappam(variety of dosa with veggies), just that flour is less, or may be different. yes, Koreans use a lot of seafood, but techniques seem similar.
Um I guess here’s a history lesson: hotteok originated from China and came from popular street food in China, bought to Korea by Chinese immigrants in 19th century and these Chinese modified it a little to suit Korean tastes more. HOWEVER, if we wanna go WAY way back, the ORIGINAL original, actually originated from present day Central Asia(western regions such as present day Arabia, Türkiye, etc.) It traveled to Ancient China via Silk Road. Hotteok means “barbarian rice cakes” which comes from one of the names Chinese used to call it called “Hu bing” which also means barbarian cake. The Hu in Chinese means barbarian The ho in Korean means barbarian This is because Chinese in ancient China called these western people the “Hu people”, which means barbarians, thus the name being “hu bing”. Bing in Chinese kinda means like a pancake sorta thing. So now there’s Chinese varieties and a Korean variety based from Chinese ones
Where can we find the recipe for this 😊

Half the heart of this dish is in America. Saltier and greasy American spam, cowboy beans and sliced American cheese make a more delicious Budae-jjigae. Of course I am Korean. 🤣🤣🤣
Budae Jjigae is a pretty interesting meal. It comes from immediately after the Korean War, and many American army bases were abandoned. Koreans raided these abandoned bases for leftover food rations and made a stew out of them. And over a few years Budae Jjigae was made. It’s now a beloved Korean dish with some popular variations to its recipe. You're absolutely correct and I find it so interesting!
I mean, its history comes from the Korean War which explains American ingredients. Are you sure you are Korean?
those leaves look like phyrinium leaves, we use that too, to make pithas ( it's kinda famous here... odisha, India). It smells really good. I think she adds often in her cooks cuz of the fragrance that would add nice smells to her foods.
Perfect❤❤❤
