These are Paracheirodon simulans, smaller than cardinal tetra and with no red stripe. And rest is Celestichthys margaritatus. Sometimes local names are misleading.

Live - yes, breed - most probably they won't. Better to keep water <9dGH (150ppm). Most fish like to have sexy time when the water gets soft.

Hmmm... I guess many fish breed after it has rained a lot, and you can't get softer water than rain water...

Various - some dry veg, dry insects/plancton, some frozen various worms, some alive worms. I guess variety in any fish diet is the best, easiest and healthy choice

+Roos Jansen I know that dark water would be perfect and comfortable for these fish. But this arrangement was inspired by HT, Amano and modern aquascaping, where plants and their growth are on the first place. Fish are only extras, so creating good condition for plants is more important. That's the idea of modern plant aquariums. But don't worry, with lots of vegetation and stable water parameters most neon don't hide and live a normal life. Fish on the movie were a little scared because I turned on the light suddenly and knocked on glass few times, to make them move for creating this movie.

+Brian Medeiros They are all dead now. And they ended up their lifes in torment and misery. Although they were fed well and kept in good coditions (they were colorful and even mated successfully few times), they all got "extinct" after 2 years in my tank. They were simply stopping to eat and had holes in their bodies. Anyway I could not recognize this as any disease, as they were dying one after another slowly, through long months. :( So yes, they are nice, but don't live long.

Could it have been hole in the head disease? My blue gourami had that for the last year of her life (I think she was 6 or so when she died), I think it is more common in older fish?

This is the first time that I've seen somebody say they require 3 foot long tanks nor do I think I've ever seen anybody with them in a 3 foot long tank. Can you give me a link to where you got this idea from? It's gonna have to be pretty reliable for me to actually believe you...

In the video I used to have 3 fluorescent pipes/bulbs: 11W-4300K + 13W-8000K + 12W-5400K, but now I switched to 3x10W LED lights, and plant growth increased a lot. Plant is Hemianthus micranthemoides.
