Artillery plays a crucial role in preventing players from camping and encourages more dynamic, strategic gameplay. While many artillery units only fire every 30 seconds or so, players like myself understand and accept this limitation, knowing it’s a trade-off for the unique support we provide to our teams. I’ve also been in many games without artillery where I felt its presence could have improved balance and made the gameplay more engaging. Additionally, lower-tier artillery lacks advanced skills and generally has a smaller impact on the overall outcome of a match than you're suggesting. It seems your frustration stems from encountering a skilled artillery player who effectively countered you. Rather than an issue with the mechanics, this feels more like dissatisfaction with how a particular match played out. Your entire video could benefit from a more balanced understanding of how artillery is integrated into the game’s design.

    Have every 3rd shot soft spot them for opposing artillery until they relocate. Ping the map with their exact position every time they fire to draw attention. They get 3 shots before they have to haul ass or remain lit for hostile artillery, this forces them out of whatever fire lane they had giving the guy they were staring at time to breathe. But this also means they can constantly pester each other taking heat off of normal tanks. Hot take. Buff arty HP pools to be just over a full HE pen as bonus incentive for arty to counter each other. Wave an extra thousand HP in front of them with no armor and questionable mobility. They will shoot at it.

      That's hardly a new idea, in fact it's pretty much how arty worked in AW, which is probably where you saw it first. Yes, it'll make a lot of arty players do nothing but look for enemy arty, then you'll have lights and everyone else screaming at arty for not shooting spotted tanks/tanks that are shooting them/etc...

    Nice mod but it's a shame that a lot of things are marked by default and you have to deselect to not have colored markings all over the screen during battle. I was only concerned with the sight and critical markers

    Great video! Basically in 1.26 update the tanks that were buffed the most were the least accurate, and the least the most accurate. Thats why I think BZ-176, Skoda T56, Bourasque etc. are even stronger. Additionaly game should become more enjoyable to every single player with these perks as higher accuracy = hitting more = less frustration

      @@TiJoWoT Yup! I played the Skoda, BZ an Bour recently and those accuracy buffs make a huge difference. Most heavies aren’t able to leverage the concentration perk, but since the BZ-176 has so much armor it can basically sit in front of enemies & take the extra time to hit weak spots more accurately now…

    PSA: After looking into Tomatogg again, and checking arty's marks, I observed that the requirements have now stabilized. When I recorded that section 1.5 weeks ago they had slightly decreased. Now, officially a month out from 1.26, it seems that *arty across the board has basically maintained all of its marks* with almost negligible change from Pre-Update 1.26 to Now. So I can't honestly draw conclusions from incomplete and premature data in the "evidence / Marks" section of this video. I would advise you all to draw their own conclusions after we see more complete data. -- Gabriel

    This must be the DUMBEST video ever, battles last 4 minutes!!!!!! stop crying about arties ffs, how much can they do to you?!?! they can bearly get 3 shots out and not to mention that they hit something, if there is ONE actuall good hit is more luck than anything else. If you think arties are OP and broken, try 2 or 3 marking them, see how it goes. You need to do stunn damage wich ppl use insta repair mod and remove the stunn in a micro second and in the process you destroy your wn8 and not to mention 70% of maps are not arty friendly, yeah fantastic.

    The Perfect Charge skill seems not affecting Arties shell velocity.I tried selecting it and check the shells no changes.

      I’ve noticed the Shell speed numbers are buggy and sometimes don’t change / update after the perk is trained. Idk what’s up. But it definitely works.

    I can put it down to your youth for your lack of understanding of artillery history. The need to move arty hasn't always been the case unless spotted by aircraft or recon behind enemy lines. The introduction of computers, satellites, 'eyes in the sky' now make it possible to find and calculate an arty location. But its relatively new in the history of artillery and the need to shoot and scoot. So now: THANKS!! 🙂 - Didn't know this until you pointed it out, I have now retrained all my arty crews accordingly. Excellent tips. You may be right about arty at lower tiers, but the real issue is experienced plays with well-trained crews 'Seal Clubbing'. An arty with no skill crew isn't accurate and a pain to play. Not that you would know. 🙂 Interestingly tanks were used as arty by the US in the Korean war where tanks drove up earthen ramps so they could lob shells over the mountains. Seems to me you want a game that is purely tank on tank which would suit your play style.

      Perhaps I can put it down to your age for assuming so much about me... lol -- But last night I learned counter-battery radar was developed in 1958. So at least for a lot of our higher tiered arty they saw action with this technology. The more you know I guess. But concerning Seal-clubbing, it's absolutely a bigger issue. But my point was never to say arty was worse than the seal clubber problem. It’s an extremely aggravating factor on top of the seal-clubbing that turns new players off.

    "Arty is the reason new player are turned off" ... good joke! A new player is more turned off by seal clubber in tier 1 to 3. As soon as you get to tier 4 you get mostly tier 6 games - which continues through the game. If a new player grinds the tech tree he/she does not have enough free XP for the modules so this poor player is just meat for all the premium tanks. Talking about frustration for new player, I think arty is by far not the most important.

      Hello, my point was never to say arty was worse than the seal clubber problem. I didn't think so many people would get caught up on this. My point is to say that arty is an extremely aggravating factor, on top of the seal-clubbing, that turns new players off. In addition to being out-skilled you are also being nuked from above. It's not a fun combo. Often players in their PZ V/IV's pair up with Lefh's and then there really is no way for new players to learn the game. They just get farmed.

    I also have the idea that artillery is shooting more special HE shells and possibly also more AP and HEAT shells due to the increased accuracy. This would also mean that MOE requirements would probably drop due to getting less stun assist and more raw damage. Regarding the crew skills these are asymetric for tanks vs artillery. The new crew skills made all the vehicles more effective, there are more usefull skills and they are more effective. For tanks against tanks this is ok since you got more effective but you opponent also got more effective however since tank vs artillery is asymetric artillery got way more usefull fighting tanks. Radio detection got effectively nerfed and was already situational and that is the only skill besides maybe the VR skills which affects the gameplay of a tank vs artillery while artillery got way more usefull fighting tanks.

    Arta should have never been reworked. Arta was perfectly fine dealing 2k damage to campers once every 1000 hits. The old arta wasn't accurate like it is today. You could block and bounce the shells. Everything about arta was better before that update.

    Post the patch I feel like I actually have a large influence in the outcome of the game as arty now. I also felt like I have more ability to focus out key players with High WN8 on the enemy team as well, which I couldn’t do as consistently before. I play arty a lot I respect your sentiment and wanted to confirm your thoughts from an arty players perspective.

      But should you know who's a good player or not? Now that's the main issue... Because you shouldn't. It's not part of the base game, as it doesn't tell you, and focusing a player is just toxic. It's like a little kid who tears off each limb of an insect, and he/she feels good about it. Bet you weren't ever on the receiving end, judging by your comment you are an arty player by blood. I also bet you never had your games continuously ruined by clickers of your kind.. You don't have my empathy nor my sympathy.

      I play a LOT of arty but even I don't focus someone just because they have high WN8 (I do have XVM). If they are in a super heavy you barely do any damage, while there could be someone else on your team who actually needs your help.

    Also agreed on your position on arty in general. A match of WoT can perfectly run without arty. But a match with 30 arty players would be a clown show and completely missing the point of WoT basic game play.

      There is a 3 arty limit to matches. People that don't like arty will complain when arty isn't supporting them, isn't countering arty, is in the "wrong position", died too early.... The maps are designed to block arty. Arty has to go to specific areas to shoot into most of the places everyone fights. Good arty players can counter quite easily.

      @@theodorefreeman 3 arties per team is still a pain in the X. More than 3, like in the past, were nightmare mode and made the match basically unplayable. Even though I would not mind if they take out arty completely I could live with the following compromise: 50% of the matches = 1arty 25% = zero arty 25%= 2 arty Currently the norm is two arties. It is still too much.

      @@juanzulu1318having 1 arty per team is very manageable. And sometimes it’s nice for lights to have at least one ally to get assist from. 2 or more Arty means entire flanks become locked down and it discourages any game progression.

      In my arty video I suggest a soft cap of 1 arty / game. Unless the MM *really* can’t manage then it goes to 2. Kinda like it works now for the soft cap we have now.

    I fully agree. The perk is based on ordinary tanks which usually move during a match. The intrinsic delay of the perk means that it is not supposed to be a constant buff. However, arty is stationary for most of the game, maybe 90% of the match, much more than ordinary tanks. For arty this perk is practically a constant buff, because its condition (being stationary) is the norm. Clear fail of the development which prove once again that they dont play the game.

      @@anknjv9211 Tbh I love this idea. I’ve also been thinking of this same idea for a couple weeks now. But It only occurred to me after I put out this video tho lol. Glad you shared bc it shows it’s probably an ideal and intuitive solution towards making lights more unique. It would also free up the equipment a lot for Improved Radio set or Rammer, etc.

    Actually arty missions are very hard compared to others. It took me 4 days to complete td-15 but i needed 25/26 days to complete arty-15🥵. So I think if WOT wants to keep this branch in the game then it should also get buff in a fair amount🙂.

    While I do agree with most of what was said in this video, the evidence section was full of incredibly lackluster arguments. The only evidence that's presented suggests that arty has gotten worse across the board and you brush that off by overly focusing on the buff to the large medkit. Why do you think a linear relation (33% less cooldown -> 33% less stun assist) is a valid assumption to make? Does it reflect in the stats? If that's the case then certainly t5 arty that does not rely on stunning is not affected at all by this "massive nerf" and as such their moe stats would have skyrocketed? Looking at the lefh this is simply not the case. Why even talk about evidence if the data contradicts your statements and your analysis of it is fundamentally flawed and shallow at best? Also, I do not understand what that perk argument was about. The whole point of the perk rework according to wg was that you were supposed to make build choices. And you want to fix the fact that arty does not by... railroading EVERY class into perks and removing choices? Doesn't sound like a compelling solution to me tbh. Again I generally agree with the video but parts of it were badly argued and seemed more like whining thinly disguised as arguments.

      Alright so I'm going to *agree* with you on the evidence section and disagree with you concerning the perk argument. I’ll explain both. A comment for perks & another for the evidence section. First with a clarification of the perk argument. You are right to say that build choices were the goal of the rework. But in contrast to normal tanks, artillery doesn’t have a need for build choices, and they can become optimally effective very quickly. This Imbalance needs some type of fix. Now, If you listen carefully later in the solution section, you hear me say that my preference for the solution is to make *certain* (not all) perks less effective for certain classes. Example: Comms expert should give lights 2.5% Bonus, Mediums 1.5% , and Arty, Heavies, and TD’s 1% bonus. This isn’t taking away the skills, or railroading classes, it’s ensuring that every class has actual strengths and weaknesses. Mind you, this is the *same exact principle* for why some equipment is limited for certain classes. I don’t see anyone complaining about not being able to mount CVS on their STRV 103B. Because players intuitively understand classes are supposed to have some type of specialization. In fact, a ton of players want CVS to be removed from mediums because they recognize that light tanks specialty has been encroached upon by mediums. This same principle can be applied to the crew skills, and I don’t think this is a radical idea by any means. The other solution of removing perks for certain classes would come with more complications than the developers would be willing to bargain for. Hence, my preference for changing perk effectiveness instead.

      Concerning the Evidence Section: So… after looking into Tomatogg again, it unfortunately seems as if the marks have now stabilized. Unlike when I recorded that section 1.5 weeks ago. Now, officially a month out from 1.26, it seems that *arty across the board has basically maintained all of its marks with almost negligible change*. Which makes all the analysis in the evidence section useless now. Lol - But I will explain my thought process anyway: I made a point to talk about evidence because I wanted to draw a contrast, that despite recent challenges arty has become more effective. The idea was to communicate that two variables were at play and were having counteracting effects: The Medkits and Practicality reducing the marks, and the skills compensating for that reduction which should be more drastic. (Which is what you challenged) So let’s break it down, keeping in mind that the evidence section was admittedly premature… because data was and is still coming in On the evidence section. I can actually see where you are coming from. The linear correlation can’t be assumed. The medkit (or Practicality Perk) could possibly mean a reduction in stun assist, however, the way that marks are calculated is with combined damage. Therefore, it’s not going to be a flat out 33% reduction in marks. - So even if someone is able to un-stun themselves 33% faster, and reduces arty’s overall assist, that arty player may also farm damage from directly hitting them, (which seems more likely with the accuracy buffs), and they may get tracking assist as well. These are 2 confounding variables right there - There is also the variable of match times. With the marathon matches being shorter and arty’s general inflexibility, (bc of long reloads) This could also lead to marks dropping - Marks may be affected by casual players coming back to the game after the update, or good players wanting to test these skills on arty. *The bottom line* (and what I realize now, thanks to your challenge) is that in order to draw any meaningful conclusions, we would need to know the average assistance pre-1.26 and compare it to now, along with the average raw damage. Then we could see if the perks are having counteracting effects. Sadly, the data is something we don’t have access to. And even with that data it would be hard to understand the effects of the new / improved skills when there are so many other variables at play. - *I will make note of this in a pinned comment so people can draw their own conclusions or look at the marks data as it comes in.* THANK YOU for your valid criticism

    Counter battery is so rare, ive only been in few games where arty actually kills arty on first couple minutes of battle

    Meh, it's not really a big deal. I've been playing a lot of arty lately trying to get the last SPG missions done and I don't notice any major difference. Arty is still crap, no idea how anyone can enjoy playing it. When you have horrible accuracy being 2 or 3% less horrible doesn't mean much. The Lehf is also super over rated, about the only thing that needs nerfing on it is it's VR. Of course I don't play anything below tier 6 so it could be worse in low tier games vs really bad players but in the vast majority of games I see them in they usually don't do that well. There was no counter battery radar in the time periods the game represents and they couldn't make CB too much easier without giving them room to maneuver since on may maps there's often very few places they can go without immediately being spotted or where they have any useful firing lines. What they do need to do is bring back the splash damage radius. CB now is almost useless, it takes you out of the game for long periods of time when you could be more effective shooting at things you can see and are far more of a threat. I do a fair bit of CB and I often see after the game I stunned the enemy SPG's or maybe did a little bit of damage but without a direct hit you're not going to kill them 90% of the time and unless they are really bad players one that happens then then know to keep moving.

      You are right that there were less sophisticated methods of identifying enemy arty positions during ww2 and early cold war. But they knew and used this concept of CB too.

      So interestingly enough counter-battery radar was developed in 1958. So at least for a lot of our higher tiered arty they saw action with this technology. The more you know I guess.

      @@Tankers4Change Effective CB radar wasn't put into use until the early 70's, before that there was only very limited use systems that were not very effective against most howitzers shells unless they had fin stabilizers which few if any did.

    Well there is an easy solution. Just remove artillery. That would make the vast majority of players happier. Arty mains could get compensated with credits, free xp, some tissues for their tears, and a free visit to mysterious places called "outside" and "shower".

      Imo they should first delete arty missions from the 279 and 260 campaign. Many players like me are only for that reason playing arty.

And WG could tune down the perks to make them fit arty. They created this monsterous abnormality of "arty". Now at least they could take care of all the resulting consequences

      WG tried this at the beginning. Most players agreed that arty was needed. Arty reduces camping. WG also didn't want the players that grinded through arty to be able to freely skip to the high tiers in other tech trees from the refund.

      I’d rewatch that part in the video. I’ll clarify here too: In that part of the video, I’m responding to a common defense of arty. Where arty players say arty should be powerful (or even straight up buffed) because it’s powerful in real life. I’m saying they are picking and choosing the parts of realism. But regardless counter battery radar should be a thing. Armored warfare implemented it very easily.

    I took a 3 year break from the game I loved playing arty because my ping is pretty high since coming back a few weeks ago my Lef which I used to hit most shots with can barely hit jack s**t now and if it does its doing half the damage it used too do (gonna have to check out these new perks ect)

      After WG added in sound detection some players have been just moving out of the way from arty shells. - But it’s once again harder to do that bc the shells come in faster and are more on target.

      A lot of arty was already decently accurate, so I’m not surprised that some ppl won’t notice. But on tanks like the T92 or M53/55 that stacked 6%-7% accuracy buff from all the skills makes a huge difference. The new perks have decreased my dispersion from .66 to .59 on my M53/55, and it’s been a noticeable difference.

      @@Tankers4Change I have more games in the m53/55 (with a 4.9 skill crew) than I care to think about and I actually have found very little difference. If anything I seem to have more shots going in odd locations than before, but that may just be luck of the draw. I don't think the changes have made arty significantly worse to play against than it was before. Though I was surprised they allowed the crew skills to be selected, as on paper they make a big difference. I love me some arty though so I might be biased. I have all the tier 10s and ace tankers on everything above tier 4 I think. (low tier arty is painful) I will say I don't play mid or low tier arty so I can't speak to how the changes have played out at that level.

    I am a little bored of the anti arty argument. You bemoan not being able to 'counter' arty but ignore the map changes which enable you to neutralise them. Suggesting the changes provide a buff is somewhat disingenuous too. If everyone can take advantage of the same perk, then it's a buff for all, which is effectively no buff at all. The game just got quicker! The issues in low tiers are not really due to Arty. Seal clubbers are the main culprits. That and WGs obsession with having games last no more than 5 minutes.....

      Totally agree, seal clubbing toons in op tanks do more damage to new player base than arty ever could. Map design has nerfed the ability of arty to sway the game, just look at all the changes to maps over the years where features have gotten much higher or maps have had cover added to prevent arty from hitting ht choke points.

      He covered why these skills are a pure buff to arty in the video: These skills are 100% always useful on arty, while only situational on other tanks, and there is no reason for arty players not to take them. That means every arty player will have these crew skills and every arty will be straight up more effective than before.

    all these whiny whiners crying about SPGs nowdays like have you even played WoT when artys could oneshot tier 10 Tanks? This Class has a good reason to be in the game. For example to stop the campers or to open chances for the allies to breakthrough. Yes it sucks. Yes it sucks hard many times and the Devs need to nerf it at some aspects. For example removing any SPGs under Tier 7 or put a limit to 1 SPG per Team but is has the right to exist. Removing that fking tier 5 Arty for a Compansation Tank or Gold would be a Huge step but it will take time. No matter how much people cry about it

      Arty is causing many players to camp. Imagine you are on Prokohovka with 2 artys. Is it fun to be spotted ones and getting 400-500dmg each time? Than i rather site back.
