Amtrak P42 #54 made some runs on the Heartland Flyer for a brief time back in July and I managed to get it arriving and departing the station in Gainesville. 54 has one of the better sounding K5LA horns in the Amtrak genesis fleet as seen here. On a cold Saturday, a few friends and I headed out to the Fort Worth area to catch some trains. We started on the TRE line at Richland Hills and Minnis where we got a few trains there before heading closer to Fort Worth. Went out on the Mineola sub again with a few friends for another day of trains. Got a good number of trains despite missing most of the morning intermodal trains.
