    Was it all the time or sometimes? And if so did you ever had a hard thud? Mined dose this but drives fine in D 321

    my 1994 gmc started grinding in reverse but would go in drive but makes a tapping or clicking could this be the same problem ?help me.

    What transfer case you have np243c if so i do to i need to know if this will fit

    @Checkpoint10na my 97 Silverado 1500 Z71 is having the same issue, in reverse will make a grinding noise but when put in drive it will only make the noise when accelerating from a stop. Could this be the issue?

      Mine only made the noise when put in reverse but it might be worth checking movement in the transfer case tail piece... Hope it works out for you too.

    just stick a false pipe on it, it actually turns out it's legal in the UK to do that since it has such low emissions anyway, even without the cat

    No, very easy to get it out... If I remember correctly, only one screw to remove.
