    this album is a 10/10 for me, their self titled is up there as well. but I think their album Hell Songs is incredibly underrated and one of the most enjoyable and exciting listens you can have. specifically "recorded inside a pyramid". goes more in the mathcore/grindcore direction rather than noise rock but I think it's one of their best.

    It’s a great EP. Around the time they made this, they were touring without a singer but would put a mic on stage and anyone in the crowd who wanted to sing could take the mic... pandemonium ensued! I saw this version of DEP, I saw them with their first singer (Dimitri who would also breathe fire on stage), saw them with Greg a few times and even saw Greg and Dimitri sing together at Hellfest in Syracuse, NY. Great band. The CD release of this EP included a little making of video as an Easter egg. I just found it on TH-cam: th-cam.com/video/XRUv68VQTpg/w-d-xo.html

    Ok it seems like I come long after the battle took place, but yeah, early Dillinger is just crazy. Calculating Infinity is still my #1 along with Miss Machine and Irony. That said, if you love TDEP, just go for a listen for the album "Orange Mathematics" by Frontierer. You could even do a reaction to it, it would eventually be a lot of fun. TDEP (or Car Bomb too) are like a fuckin stairway to the melting apocalypse Frontierer is (and their 3rd album comes out this autumn !).

    George W. Bush Jr. was president after Clinton, and around the same time as Tony Blair was PM (Largely on the basis, it seemed, that his father had also been a republican president during the first gulf war). At that time I found it unimaginable that there could be a president more offensively stupid than Bush, a view that was absolutely humbled by the Trump era.

    • @AV-69
      @AV-69 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, despite speculation in the comments, the song is definitely about George W. Bush Jr (and the wider political culture he represented), "I pushed a button and elected him to office" makes it pretty clear.

      @@AV-69 The people who try to spin this song as not about GWB (and, as you said, the political culture he represented which was neoconservatism) are just NIN fans in denial that Trent's a lefty. It's the same kind of thing that happened with conservative RATM fans when they accidentally listened to the lyrics. They enjoyed the energy and the anger of the music but had no idea it was aimed at things they, the conservative listeners, supported.

    Cool open-minded reaction, dude. :) The song "Capital G" is from the album Year Zero, which was a very special concept album and they did a full-blown multimedia ARG around that beforehand, where people found different clues eventually leading to the release. The concept around that album was about the "year zero", which back then was a fictional 2022 where basically society, government and all that have reached a point of no return - in the most negative way (what exactly this involves would be too much to explain in this comment lol). But yeah, that's why the sound is different on that album. Fun fact: The physical CD changed color (intentionally) after being played - caused by the warmth. :D
