Holy Grail Kit and a what the heck is this kit.
Looks great. What color did you paint the Enterprise before you installed the Aztec decals? I'm getting ready to start my build.
@@paulgertsch7105 Heya Paul!! I just used some Rust-Oleum French Blue. It's darn near a perfect match for the ship. Good luck with your build!!
Thanks for the help.
I love the snow!
So do I, at the proper time, when the ground is froze enough for it to stay. This stuff is nasty slush now.
MMMM tasty
It is VERY! Some of the best Mexican food I've had outside of Mexico.
@@PunkyWily Mexican food mmmmm awesome taste
Now I'm hungry THANK YOU!! 😂
You want some? I have PLENTY of leftovers.
Hey bud, looks awesome!! We get very little snow. Have a spooky evening!!!!
I'll be curling up with a horror movie or five tonight! Snow is fun, when it's snow time, now it's just annoying slush that you get to drive through. Have a fun night yourself!
Happy Halloween Rus from the UK
JULIAN! Heya mate! Thanks and cheers!
Thanks for your video, it helps a lot for my own build. Any chance you share your STL files? I´d love to do a open shuttlebay door, but my CAD skills are to low to design that myself.
Heya Fullspete, sure you can have them, just send me an Email at russkmsd@gmail.com and I'll get them to ya.
I sure wish these parts were available for purchase. I paid JT Graphics for these parts about 3 months ago - nothing yet.
Heya Steve, thats a shame. Why don't you throw me an Email at russkmsd@gmail.com and I'll hook you up.
Oh it's a beautiful thing!!! That ship is a lot of work!! Really great job!!!
@@thecaptain2521 heya Cap!! Thanks! Was a fun build. Did you give up on the big one or are you still waiting on parts?
I have them all but 1. There are 32 packs, pack 29 is still back ordered they tell me.
Looks good from here Russ! I think I will tackle this after the first of the year. I have a few clear editions. Yours is going to be a nice display model.
@@MoonwalkerModels Heya Kenny!! Yeah I think you'll have fun with this one, can't wait to see your build!!
Hey Russ, don't lose heart, a simple trick with decals to make them fit better, is to use white vinegar with water, that will make them very soft and stick better, just try it first to find the right mix, once its all dry give it a wash to get ride of lest over Vinegar and them coat with a dull coat, or even a very light coat of white, that will make them look better, your doing a great job, I look forward to the next part.
Heya Julian, as I sit here and sip my tea, yes it's a tea morning, burr!! Getting cold over here. Ok, I'll have to fiddle around with that white vinegar trick. It's not so much that they were not sticking as I was getting air underneath and in-between all those details. Oh well, it's done at any rate. I'm getting back into my 1/350 Refit now, time to get that puppy back on the bench.
@@PunkyWily I know mate, is is always the answer, try using an old paint brush to smooth over the decals and get the air bubbles out, as well as the Vinegar, that will help keep doing it until they are flat with no bubbles,
Awesome work!!! Such a classic starship. I love this!!!
Heya Chrisb!! Thanks! She's a very cool ship, always wanted to light one up, now I've got one!
I think it came out awesome you did a fine job on the kit and the lighting.
Heya SDM! Thanks man! Simple lighting too, maybe wanted to add a bit more to the top, the edge windows came out a touch dim, but otherwise I like how it turned out. Now get to work on that C! ;D
@@PunkyWily soon
@PunkWily BTW have you come up with a solution for the Onion bulb yet for the windows?
Holy crap, sorry I missed this Michael! But no, I'm kinda out of deving these parts at the moment. I may at some time in the future.
@PunkyWily you still have the upgrade sets right?
That's a lot of work Russ. But, it is looking good! What gray paint are you using for the hull?
@@MoonwalkerModels Heya Kenny!! I'm not using grey, using french blue as apparently that was the color they used on the studio model.
Loving this build mate; I bought the original 1990’s kit from eBay the other day, still in its shrink-wrap for £40 ($53). Think I got a bargain, most of the original kits from eBay go for £100 ($132), and not shrink-wrapped. Looking forward to watching you build this up!
Heya Kevin!! Glad you're enjoying the build! Not bad, I snagged mine for around $20 US, not in the shrink wrap but everything was there in the bags and such. I don't envy you cutting out all those windows though mate, that is a task and a half, use a rotary tool!
Looks really great. I can't wait to get my hands on one, too.
@@xfighterbuilds Heya Xfighter!! Yeah it's been a pretty fun build thus far, fairly simple, I think you'll enjoy it when you get yours!
Man that's a heck of a ship. I built one when it first came out. Hand painted the aztec sections. No lights, long before LEDs. When we moved I gave it to a co-worker (huge ST fan) she was ecstatic. I have 3, the original, one with fiber optics & the new clear one but since I have the big Fanhome I'll probably never build them. Excellent work my friend, it's really coming together nice!!!
Ah, I've been waiting for you to show your face! I ended up buying one of these new repops. My part 7 engineering hull top is a mess. I'm waiting to see if R2 is gonna replace it.
Heya Salty!! What happened to the hull? Factory defect? R2 is normally good about that stuff.
@@PunkyWily yeah. The part didn't fill the mold at the top where the neck connects. Big hole under the torpedo bay. R2 quality really isn't good. My saucer is bigger on the bottom by like 2mm on each side then the top. Can't really sand it down cuz you lose the saucer edge lights. So I guess it'll just stick way out. I'm waitIng on my Evan Design wire to get here and I'm gonna start cutting this 5mm Cob LED I got. It's pretty nifty stuff. I'm just gonna run a big loop up of it around the interior of the saucer on its edge, so it shines out and not up or down. Then a loop inside shining towards the center, and not up or down. Gonna keep it really simple since this kit is kinda a molding mess.
@@Salty_Balls Sorry to hear that, hope the build goes well. Been meaning to get some of that Cob lighting, just to see what it's all about, looks pretty cool.
Russ you are going to hate me but I came up with another idea for a future K'Tinga replacement part. 3D printed rear bulkhead for the shuttlebay with separate clear parts for the observation deck windows clear part for the force field emitter that goes in between the shuttlebay door and the bulkhead and clear parts for the landing lights/tractor emitters. And a 3d printed shuttlebay door keyed to fit the clear part it attaches to.
Heya Michael!! LOL. I don't hate you. I think someone else already did a shuttlebay???? Maybe?
@@PunkyWily Maybe for the 350 one but I don't remember one for the 537 K'Tinga being made recently though. The only Resin shuttlebay bulkhead is the JT Graphics one and a slightly modified kit part. Now Enterprise D shuttlebay interiors there are a ton of those out there. Oh BTW The lifeboat decals in the Translucent kit you have are ok just a little bland. I posted a link in the comments for the G-Cal Enterprise D replacement decals you will like those alot more as the lifeboat decals come with the ships name and registry number printed on them.
I'm glad I watched this before buying this, had no idea you had to paint them.
@@VeegovonDOOM Heya VeegovonDOOM, honestly you really don't have to, they're all in the colors they should be, I just wanted to. You can build this out of the box as is and have a really nice Voltron.
@@PunkyWily good to know , thanks.
If you wanna build a Prime on camera, look up the Blokee Action Edition Optimus Prime. He's more like a gundam in build.
Yeah I've been seeing those, I thought they were just untransforming action figures so I ignored all the reviews. lol. Ok, so then worth checking out.
I still love this kit, despite it's flaws. I'm tempted to grab one, but I don't think I have the patience to light it. There's far too many annoying things about it.
Honestly, thus far, it's not been too bad to light. I've only put in a few LED strips and some single 3m bulbs for the flashers. And who says you have to light it anyways? Build it the way you want to. Or you could get that GIANT 3D printed kit that Lou is working on right now, that is CRAZY!
@@PunkyWily is that the 1/650? I'm following someone else's build of that. The saucer is about 3 foot across.
@@Salty_Balls Maybe? It's pretty big, it's a 3D print by Helios
@@PunkyWily maybe this is different, cuz I think the one I'm watching is a poured resin kit. It's huge too. I think someone is popping them from his garage setup. Edit, I was wrong this one is printed. That's a huge print. 😮
@@PunkyWily I blame you for this, but I went ahead and picked up a 2024 release of the D. Whew, the mold has really suffered since I built my last one in 1995/96. I do like the milk jug plastic though. I've got some 5mm LED cob tape on order for a DiscoPrise. I'll use the rest on this. I really want to use those MPM masks to Aztec it properly. I don't like wallpaper decals. I'm using my kit from 95/96 as a paint mule to experiment on first.
I got my Prime about 4 months ago. Unfortunately the eyes don't work on mine. I'll get around to painting them blue sometime.
Aw, that sucks. I'd have said something to the company, I'm sure they would have made it right.
@@PunkyWily I'm not overly impressed with Yolopark. Every single figure I get has had some weird issues so far.
@@Salty_Balls Wow, all of my stuff has been pretty good thus far. Still think you should have kicked back at them and gotten a refund or new kit.
4:40 that's the tractor beam emitter.
Heya Salty!!! ...oh, right, it is. Well I feel stupid forgetting that. lol.
@@PunkyWily only install it on Tuesday.
Looks great so far! Can't wait to see more. Keep up the great work!
Heya Xfighter!! Thanks for the kudos and thanks for watching the build, I'll keep plugging along here. :D
Wow the shuttle bays came awesome i love them please feel free to send me the fills LOL, over all the ship is looking great.
Heya SDM, yeah I like how they came out. I wish the one lit better but maybe you can fix that for your build, check your inbox buddy!
@@PunkyWily Got them thanks bud.
Those shuttle bays are sick!!! Gonna be fun painting those shuttle craft LOL Who needs a $2000 Fanhome, that ship is gonna be awesome!!!
Heya Cap!!! lol, well I hope so, the windows on that Fanhome are 100 % better then mine that's for sure. God bless!!
Cool looking robots i love them.
Heya SDM!!!! Thanks man!!
Nice paint job. Your wings are miss-assembled, though.
Heya Blammers! Thanks, paint was just a few coats of spray paint in the old paint booth, then I let it all dry for about three or four days. And Well, THAT explains why I keep looking at wings and thinking something's up. OK, well thanks much for that, I'll fix those puppys up!
I ordered one direct from Japan and 5 days later it snapped at the hip joint the part that connects to the white hip. I did fix it and I ordered another one.
Heya Christisrisen! Sorry to hear about that. I haven't really been moving him around a lot for just that reason, scared I'll bust the joints. They are SUPER tight on mine, so I've just left him in the one pose. Glad you could fix it and I hope you have better luck with your second one!
@@PunkyWily yeah I costomized mine too. The new one that's on the way will at least have spare parts available if need be.
"And I'll form the head" LOL That's awesome!!! I've had one in the stash for a couple years, not sure when I got it. Awesome to see it built up!!! Excellent work!!!
@@thecaptain2521 yeah it was a fun build. If you don't paint it up it would make for a nice lazy afternoon build. You should pull yours out of the stash and build it!!
I'm looking forward to seeing this come together. The Bat Mobile from the 60's was a really nice design. I saw it in the mid 70's at a car show, but I'm not sure if it was original.
Heya Todd!! They had a few Batmobiles, so I'm sure it was one of the ones they used in filming. Lucky you got to see it in person!! Every month I can't wait for my parts to show up and to see what I'll be building next, having a blast with this one!
Ah now I understand the battery comment LOL
Yeah, you need AG1 x 3 and 2 CR927 batteries
@@PunkyWily awesome thanks, I have a ton of batteries including the AG1 but never heard of the 927. Most things I have take the CR2032. Thanks for the heads up!!!
some nice red lights in the eyes would make it come to life Russ, but a fun build all the same 😁🤟

I hope you enjoy them!! don't forget the batteries. :D
That is so cool!! I'll probably say it every time but it's gonna be awesome!!!
Heya Cap!!! Yeah it's a lot of fun! But you should know that, you're building the D! Which is so tempting you don't even know! Must resist, need new bathroom!
I am currently working on the USS Enterprise 1701-A - 1/537. Your videos have given me so many cool tips. I saw the new 2024 AMT 11400 Enterprise D at my hobby shop yesterday. I'm thinking of doing this after I finish my current project. With the new translucent plastic I was hoping to scrap the paint away from the windows for lighting. Not sure how that would look, but cutting them is always an option. Thanks from Canada
I am interested in the stl file for your led holder. Thanks Rick
Heya Pug!!! I'm glad my tips are helping your build! Yeah the D is a fun build, we will see how scraping the windows works out soon! Thanks for watching!
Hi Russ! So glad to see you building again. I had a ganglion cyst removed from the exact location. I thought it would be a snip...snip out-patient procedure, but alas, it was a full blown operation under a general anesthetic. At least I got to go home the same day. I decided against the wacking-it with a book, method. Enjoy the build....I will be following!
Heya Todd!!! Yeah I think I'd rather wack it with a book, yikes. Thanks, we will see how much I like scraping paint off all these windows. lol
@@PunkyWily Yeah, the D has a ton. I have the opaque Voyager, and I'm still trying to devise a plan. I'm pretty lazy when it comes to that stuff. Maybe I'll just paint it gold like those ships in the briefing rooms...lol.
@@toddwalker4301 really todd? Lol. There are no where near as many windows on voyager, do it properly! 🤣
@@PunkyWily LOL I believe Voyager is smaller than the Enterprise D's saucer which is saying something as it has even fewer windows than the Enterprise-A.
That stuff sucks though. But unluckily for me I have Carpal Tunnel in both wrists and shoulder problems in the right shoulder and also unfortunately I have a major wrist problem that may have aggravated things more (A past wrist injury from 18 years ago that may have caused the Carpal tunnel issue in the wright wrist that happened 2 months before I broke my left shoulder in 2021). And a few other things that caused more trouble for me last year that added to the problems with the right shoulder. (2 Shingles outbreaks)
I love it also you can use resin for the seem on nacelles. Sorry about the paint work.
Oh right, I keep forgetting to use your resin trick. I'll have to try it. I did pick up a UV flash light just for that too. Thanks! Oh and check your Email.
@@PunkyWily Awesome thanks.
Ooooooo....I saw a version of this kit in a model shop. I grew up watching this campy show, and I do love the car!! Good to see you back. This video didn't pop up in my feed.
Heya Todd! Where you been hiding yourself? :D Hopefully I'll get my next packages soon.
@@PunkyWily Is there a Wonderfest in your future?
@@toddwalker4301 I would LOVE to Wonderfest sometime! Would be awesome to meet all the modelers and see all their work in person. Not economical this year, sadly. Saving up for a new shower.

Thanks alexalonzo, much appreciated!
You're right buddy, I would love to have it, problem is I'm in the middle of the Enterprise D from Fanhome and can't possibly start another subscription till this one's done. I'd like to stay married LOLOLOL
Happy wife happy life! 😁
Why didnt you use the railings from the photo etch kits.
OMG that is so cool!! I've been drooling over this since it came out! The Enterprise D was so frickin expensive I said never again but $14 is doable, you're seriously tempting me bud!!
I just couldn't pass this one up, Cap! That D was tempting me something fierce too, just couldn't justify the 2 grand for her. This is much more manageable for my economic situation. You can live vicariously through my build!! 😁
Hey bud, just went on the website. Unless I'm reading it wrong but after the first couple you get 6 stages a month at $15.24 per stage. That's $91.44 a month. 120 stages in all which comes out to about $1,800 total. Still a bit much for me.
@@thecaptain2521 I thought it was four a month, may have to re read that. Thanks for the heads-up.
Hey Bro. been a while since we had a chat. I did the Delorean from Eaglemoss ( Now Fanhome ) only have a few issues to finish. I use rubber gloves for every step when building my issues. These are some cool large model kits hard to decide which one I want to do next Batmobile, Ecto-1 knight Rider IDK lol. Btw, it helps to have a good magnetic philips head screwdiver, the one they give you is good but I'd get a real good strong one. Aslo get youself a micro fiber cloth or towel, the best for keeping small scratches from showing. So whats going on with the 1:350 Enterprise?
Heya Wraith!! Yeah I was going to use gloves but forgot to. lol. The Ecto and K.I.T.T look awesome, hard one to choose there. Yeah I'm going to pick up a few things from the ole Walmart today, a nice beefy magnetic screwdriver, micro fiber cloth and some gun oil for the screws. The 1/350 is a mess bud. I have a video that's 99% done in the can, just need to get some wires together. But the mess is the secondary hull. The paint is ruined, the neck is ruined, and I have about 100 wires sticking out of the deflector housing that I DIDN'T LABEL. Almost makes me want to start over in some respects. Blah.
@@PunkyWily Shame...let me know when you do a rebuild Bro. and please hit me up for some tips and ideas, mine so far is going great...it's my first 3:50 Enterprise but taking my time to do it right, I'm slmost done just got to do the Nacelle's and attach the Neck and saucer to the Secondary hull and then to the base and she's done.
@@wraith20072007 Totally will, if I do. It's really only the secondary hull, everything else is just fine.
Cool model! I’m building KITT and Ecto-1 right now and finished the Delorean a few years ago. One thing I can tell you is, you are tapping the holes when you are screwing into the metal. Just a little tip. Dip the end of the screw in a little 3 in 1 oil. It makes it a lot easier. Some of those screws go in like butter but others are not so easy. Good luck! Can’t wait to see the rest of the build!
Hey Bryan!! Ok, that is good to know! It felt like you're tapping them, but I swear those screws were NOT self tapping screws, must be these old eyes playing tricks on me. 3 in 1 oil sounds great, will have to do that when I get my next package! Thanks for the advice!
Nice, I do agree with you that one is my favorite to, I got to see it up close and in person in Vegas when I saw Jeff Dunham live, and the car was awesome.
I think I saw it at a auto show when I was a kid, though I was way more interested in the General Lee that was there at the time. And SOMEONE forgot we were going to do a hangout tonight....gramps. Hehehehe
@@PunkyWily I agree Punky, The general Lee is saweeeet lol I met john Schneider in person years back...we took some pic's together and he signed the front and back windsheild of the 1:25 scale general Lee I have and the box and a bunch of other things. we were the last to get to meet him so we had time to chat a while and they closed the curtain around the G.L. and John was like let him through to get some pictures and they did it was so cool...we got to be like friends and to this day we chat online and I buy some music and other things from his store at John Schneidersstudios btw Bro some great stuff there.

@@wraith20072007 Wow, that is awesome! I'm subbed to John's TH-cam channel, so I get to see what kinda trouble he's getting into. lol. Need to get some of that Shine he's selling! :D
@@wraith20072007 LOL. As much as I would LOVE to see that, never gonna happen, buddy, that car's not "politically correct".
@PunkWily You might not have to lose the Battle head detail if you attach the saucer to it with magnets and use the magnets to power the saucer as well. And if you 3D print another battle head you can put the saucer on that with magnets running power to that as well. And as a added bonus have magnets running power to the saucer impulse engines to simulate the saucer in flight with only that part and not the main hull since the saucer impulse engines aren't active when attached to the star drive section.
Michael! I just knew someone was going to suggest just this thing, didn't know it would be you, too bad. Now I have to send a bunch of hired goons over there to ruff you up.
@@PunkyWily Good luck with that but you might need new goons though. hehehe
@@michaelbenjmitchell1 Noooo my goons!
@@PunkyWily *Dr Evil laugh* They should have looked out for the ill tempered sea bass.
Good luck. You're going to need it with this kit. The "detail" you're speaking about is actually grossly inaccurate. For starters, the lines should be sunk into the model, not above the surface. You say you don't want to sand so I guess you're not after full accuracy here. You're going to love running wires to the nacelles. And without the new translucent release, the windows. Those goddamn WINDOWS. Take her out and see what she's got!
Heya Tray. Yeah, I know this build is a BEAST! But it's one of those things you eventually have to do as a Trek fan. lol. The detail is WIDLY inaccurate, but for the time period she was an amazing looking model. Today we are spoiled with all the 100 % accurate models we have, back then this kit was a jewel. Guess I just have nostalgia goggles on when it comes to this one. lol
