Blender EEVEE - 3D sci-fi environment cityscape (Cyberpunk)
มุมมอง 3164 ปีที่แล้ว
Blender EEVEE - 3D sci- fi environment cityscape (Cyberpunk) All done in Blender 2.8. 8 Hours work. It is a game design concept.
This tutorial is amazing, I never understood drivers but now I can see many ways I could apply them just from following along with this, and also picked up some great tricks for rigging objects. My one complaint is how the pages aren't fully aligned with the cover of the book once the book is fully opened, I suppose everyone else found their own solution, mine was simply to scale the side bone of the cover down and turn off the scale inheritance on the bones that are parented to it, not exactly a great solution but it's what I figured out on my own, would have liked to have seen a solution on the video but really can't complain considering how much useful information you gave away in such a short time. Cheers
I'm glad it helped. thank you for your comment, i never thought using your method, i ll give it a try, but i'm pretty sure the solution would be pretty straight forward, i just never got the time to see that, cause i'm really busy :) anyway Cheers
thank you very much, is very helful for me, god bless 🤲
when I assign the mesh to the bones, it affects nearby mesh too with a gradient of effect from red to green to blue, rather than just the hard red to blue you have. How do I fix this?
so far this has been a really helpful guide tho even that I followed everythign Step by step my Page control dosent want to properly pair up with the book cover top to move along. it always ends up either not moving or facing the wrong direction or only rotates on a wrong aixes. I am using Blender 4.1 sooo if that helps.
4:04 Thanks for the nice video. But one issue happened to me. In my case, the parent is disabled. Even though I clicked it in the correct order. How do I fix it?
What do you mean is disabled? Different reason why it is not working: - bug in the blender version - you are not in edit mode while parenting - the 2 bones are not in the same armature, because maybe you duplicated while you were in object mode. I tried now with the third option, everything is grey and cannot parent, so i guess you duplicated the bone in object mode.
@@kazeyugen i got the same problem as @sangwalee402. Followed the exact steps in the video but the parent option later on is disabled, its got something to do with the blender version i guess. Can you try it once in the latest 4.1 version and check what the problem is, i can see in the relations tab that the bones are already parented after extruding them from the same bones in edit mode. That's what is causing the problem i guess.
@@hashtagaakashsharma Ok so i've tested this thing right now on Blender 4. This video was done with 2.9 version. Apperantly around 3.6 they changed something. So the reason you cannot parent is because the TOP Bone is already parented with the bottom bone (See relationt tab). This means that part is not necessary. If you want you can still separate the bones with ALT + P and clear parent then reparent again. In version 2.9 you could use CTRL+p to parent many times.
@kazeyugen "Parenting is a tough job apparently 🤣" Thanks for the help though.. Cheers. 🍻
@@hashtagaakashsharmalol a-parently that is right :)
This looks like a great tutorial but I cannot stand the AI voice. What a shame.
I'm pretty sure i'm using a traditional text to speech. Way before the ai thing get so advanced. I know it is a shame, it's just that i don't have a voice. I could have made a video without dub, with only sub, but i hate watching those type of video because it is diffult to follow so i wanted to do something more easy for people to follow. Maybe in the future i ll hire a human voice actor.
Sir my book is not turn in 180 dgree why
you need to be more specific, at what part you are refering
Insanely helpful for a notebook system im making for my game! Thanks a lot! And providing it for (almost) free on gumroad is an added bonus.
Ty, i'm glad it helps.
You explain too fast! Its very hard to follow
I cannot bevel properly
Did you apply the scale?if not , then : CTRL+ A -> Scale
@@kazeyugen i did but it still doesnt workork
@@mathbo6213 Maybe check the normals, Unfortunatly it is difficult to understand what might be wrong, since yt is not the best platform for this thing :(
in blender 4, there is no option for Vertex Group Weights overlay in the overlays dropdown even when vertexes have been assigned to groups, do you know where I can get the overlay?
Hi, yes there is. You need to be in Edit mode, Near the Viewport Overlay (2 Sphere icon), there is the mesh edit mode Overlay. And you can turn it on
@@kazeyugen maybe I was in object mode by mistake but it wasn't there for me, I will check again making sure i'm in edit mode. regardless, I was able to finish my model using tips from your videos so thank you!

6:18
do you have a question?
@@kazeyugen No, I just marked the part I'm copying😊 Thank you for tutorial
4:30
this was almost a year ago, so I doubt you will respond, but when I got to bevel the corners the bottom edge bevels correctly, but the top moves strangely and moves into itself. do you have any Idea what might be wrong?
Not having enough details i would say you need to check if the scale is applied. Usually bevel modifiers have that problem if the scale is not 1. Or maybe check the normals
I had the same problem. The issue was that I had to apply the solidify modyfier first, before using the bevel on the edges that were created by it.
Super late to the party but I'm in a situation (basically what you were in) with page-to-spine alignment when the rig is fully opened... Any suggestion on a possible fix to make the pages on the top cover translate correctly as we open the book, with the current rig setup? Thanks!
Can you be more specific. What time of the video you refering?
which version did you use
2.92
This truly is a great tutorial. Even without optimal equipmant you manage to make a tutorial that is clearer than most out there. Thanks
Ty you so much, that is nice to hear :)
@@kazeyugen Do you happen to know whether its possible to export this file to unity, and have the shape keys/driver work in unity?
@@neusaap5708 Yes, it is possible.Blender shapekeys work in unity.
hi this helps me a lot! I have a question..every page should have individual bone?
In this case you have only 2 blocks of pages, but if you want to have more pages, then it depends. With all the tools you have in blender i can think at the moment at 3 ways you can do that. It really depends on the skills and what you need. The methods are: using bones (the same way you can see it here), using simple deform modifier and some constraints, or probably using Geometry node.
I really want to combine this with a single page flip for a Unity game asset. So you'd be able to flip the book open, it would hold it up to the screen, and there would be a page flip animation for the limited number of pages in the book.
Amazing tutorial!! Thanks for the knowledge, really interesting.
Thank you so much Kaue Asciuti
Tutorial pls
hi, of what part do you want would you like the tutorial?
You a god for this one
ty,i'm glad it helped
my rotation went wrong after i copy tramform thingy, to make it open and close i have to pull it to the side aka the blue one that goes left and right, to make it go up and down
I dont understand your question, at what minute are u refering?
You're a real one. thank you!
ty :)
0:30 How do you edit the edges like that?
Select the edges only the long (inside and outside) and not the side edges. Press CTRL+B to bevel and with your mouse wheel to increse the level of bevels
the side bones rotate around the 3D cursor, do you know how to fix this by any chance?
This means you have the Pivot point set to 3D cursor. In the middle of the screen in the top menu, you can find the Transform Pivot Point option. You can see it at 0:53 second of this video. Just choose "Individual Origin". Or if you want you can toogle the menu pressing on the keyboard : "." (point/period) and choose Individual Origin
@@kazeyugen Ooh alright, thanks for the help I really appreciately it.
I didnt got the forst part of joining the covers of book you haven't mention the keys pressed which make it difficult for understanding please help
Can you be more specific, at what minute are you refering?
@@kazeyugen 0:10 i pressed f but it was not joining smh
@@ansarialtamash7669 That is hard to say. So make sure: - scale is applied - you are selecting the verteces and not the faces - maybe you have a dublicated face on top of the other. If so press A to select all and press M-> Merge by distance and try again
Did you duplicate in Edit Mode? It worked there for me.
I'd like to know if you have a slower version of these tutorials, please.
o.O slower? What part was hard to follow?
@@kazeyugen that's because I generally have hard time tô follow speeded up tutorial. Specially when It come tô inverssed kinemetics. But anyway, I'll do my besta tô follow It. Thank you Very much for repplying me
@@2010douggy So this is part 2 so make sure to watch part 1 (link in description). There are no inversed kinematics in this one, i tried to make it easy to follow. But if you find some problem, just ask.
@@kazeyugen you got it! Thank you so much for your attention and time. Whater I need, I'll feel free to ask you again ;D
This is dope
Ty :)
thx, i was wondering how to make ao and cavity and whats is the difference between 'em
Thank you. Ambient occlusion occurs when 2 objects are close together and prevent light from reflecting and create a very sharp shadow. There is a video that explains things very well: Ambient Occlusion Marco Bucci. To do this go to the shader editor and add: Input-> Ambient Occlusion. I recommend using a color ramp to increase the contrast. As for the cavity map, it is used when you want to have worn sides or cracks. To do this Input-> Geometry -> Pointiness or using a vertex color. You have to create the cavity map on the High poly object. There are better and more accurate methods, however, but you can try this for now.
THANK YOU!! YOU ARE GREAT
So I was running a test to see if I could use this model in roblox studio, and I exported the model with the armature, only issue I have, is the control mechanism doesn't export. The rest of the bones export BESIDES the control bone. Any idea why?
I've never tried Roblox studio, so i really don't know, sorry. I think you can find a user manual that can adress that issue. I'll check it once i have a bit of time and see if i can find a solution
box work
Very nice tutorial, i very very like this video, thank you
very nice tutorial. tks a lot
thank you
Your text to speech and video speed are completely out of sync. You finish saying something and you don't even have time to process what you clicked or said before you have already clicked another 5 buttons.
thank you for you feedback. I kinda agree. In some parts i had to rush a little bit. I'm working and i don't have a lot of time (unfortunatly) to do youtube video. I practiced 2 times on this video to make it clear but did not worked a lot on the script. Let me know what part was hard so i can try to comment here.
Great video! Thanks for sharing. I am wondering, how were you able to get an even thickness with the solidify modifier on the spine in the beginning of the video? The connecting spine is always thinner whenever I add the modifier, which keeps me from being able to bevel properly.
It is not really easy for me to understand, i need to see it,but the first thing i 'd check is if you have the scale applied. When you added the plane in the scene, did you scale it in Object mode?Do it in edit mode. However If you did in object mode, make sure you apply the scale, Use the short cut CTRL+A.
@@kazeyugen Yep, scaling in object mode rather than edit mode was the issue. Thank you so much :)
@@ashleyvanduzer5535 Good to hear. Also, when sculpting something is not working properly it may be the scale. Cheers
Thanks for the tutorial, it's really interesting!
Thank you!

@@kazeyugen ok thx for your reply. I thought u won't respond. But it would be fun and important if u make a video on rigging page...
@@grvinod1973 Ok, i'll make a slower version.
Hey Thanks for the Tutorial but it would have been nice if you showed how to set up the drivers, im having a nightmare as my shapekeys move the wrong way once ive added a driver
Hi, i'm glad it you like it, and sorry the issue. So i'm not really an expert in this and most of it is trial and error. I don't know how you set up your project but, usually you can check this: Apply transforms(scale, rotation, location). Object Scale. If you use the driver and it moves inverted, you can multiply by negative value and also you can check if the axis orientation of the bone is aligned correctly.
