Kerbal Space Program 2 - Kerbal Rescue on Mun’s Orbit
In this video I build and launch a ship that rescues as stranded Kerbal floating in Mun’s Orbit
Chapters:
00:00 Assembly
02:32 Liftoff
04:10 Kerbin Orbit
05:41 Trans-Lunar Injection
09:30 Circularizing Mun Orbit
11:34 Matching Orbit Angles
14:20 Adjusting Orbit to Catch Up
15:40 Rendezvous
20:45 EVA to rescue ship
23:38 Return to Kerbin
31:36 Splashdown
To build the ship, I used:
Cabin
- 1x Mk1-3 Gumball 3 Seat Command Pod
- 1x Mk16 XL Parachute
- 1x OX-STAT Solar Panel
- 1x Z-100 Rechargeable Battery
- 1x HS-250 Heat Shield
- 1x TD-25 Stack Decoupler
2nd Stage
- 1x X200-32 Fuel Tank
- 1x LV-2000 Trumpet Engine
- 1x TD-25 Stack Decoupler
1st Stage
- 1x FL-R1 Monopropellant Tank
- 1x MRW-250 Stabilizer
- 1x ADTP-2-3 Fuel Tank
- 1x S3-28800 Fuel Tank
- 1x S3 KS-100 Mammoth-II Engine
- 4x MPS-500 Stabilizers
- 8x RV-105 RCS Thrusters
Note: in the assembly, I added the Mk25 Drogue Parachute by mistake and only noticed it at the end of recording. I re-recorded the landing phase with the correct chute (Mk16XL).

At the time I had bought a box of 200 various springs and tested a few (but didn't bother to check the specifications, my bad). I actually thought it ended up being very weak and I'd choose stronger options if I would repeat this project.

Great design. The rubber bands added the spring constant k. You need to add the c constant for the damper. Dampening can be achieved by friction. That will make the return to the center position more fluid and less aggressive. Again, great design!

Thank you for creating this, I've build it myself and everthing fits nicley togehter. Altough in an iteration I would go for ball bearings instead of plastic on plastic. However I can't get it to work. I cannot, for the live of me, get unojoy to work on my UNO R3. I've tried many times to flash the unojoy firmware, to the point where it bricked my arduino and no it's garbage. It mostly likely killed de atmega16u2 responsible for the USB communication, as the device does not show up on an computer. So now I am searching for alternatives as I got everything assembled and working except the, quite crucial, communication part. For everyone wondering about the cost, I've broke mine down (printing cost based on filament around € 24,99/kg and energy around 0,35/kwH) Everthing sourced from Amazon, except the MDF it's mounted to: Printed parts ~ 32,72 € 6x Rubber feet = 2,40 € 1x Arduino = 24,13 € 3x 10k Poti = 2,55 € 10x Springs ~ 0,48 € Xx Screws ~ 1,00 € 1x MDF = 4,99 € Sum ~ 68,27 €

@@LorenzoGiordanoGomes I saw another video after this one, I think it was called F14 pedals or something like that. Very impressive and complete with plans to download. I haven't seen any ready made pedals that look realistic, even the new Honeycomb ones. Real airplane pedals are more like car pedals, sort of hanging down and pivoted at the top rather than sliding back and forward on the floor.

Just because someone else has already made one doesn't mean it's a stolen design.. with imagination and creativity you can make your own design.. just watching this video gave me lots if Ideas on how I would do things differently and better for my setup.. first thingerverse is meant for people to get ideas and create things. most people give credit where credit is due, don't assume you know where people get their ideas from. second that guy didn't invent the flight yoke, or 3d printed yoke, so if you want to give credit find the originator not just somebody who made something before this. third what part of this is taken from that design not a single thing maybe the rubber bands every piece is different. fourth this is a much better design for budget, its about $100 for all the parts of the other build plus several days of print time (3-4 days) . where as this I'd say probably less than 2 days total print time. which also means less filament. by your comment there's 3 dots you can click on that and delete your comment for being wrong or you could just say update: sorry I was wrong, you did an extant job with this design thank you very much
