When England was beautiful.
My first flight was from LHR on an Iberia Caravelle to Madrid in 1962.
WOW!! that certainly brings back memories. I was stationed at RAF Manston from January 1969 through to March 1970 and Invicta were still flying the DC4's then, plus I remember the Viking pulled up on the other side of the road opposite the main pan and terminal. I also managed to "blag" a flight up in a Chippie when the ATC were there for air experience flights....happy memories😀
The Lydd footage brought back memories of cycling there around 1963/64 to watch the Bristol Superfreighters whilst on holiday at Winchelsea Beach....happy days!
Those Channel Airways Viscount 800s were kept in the exact color scheme of former owner Continental Airlines of the US with only the name changed.
That Mc Donell Douglas from Saturn was the true pencil!
To get to see such large turboprop passenger planes share the airport with jets, so very cool. I've really never seen full sized jumbo passenger sized turboprops like this before, Oh how I'd love to fly in one.
This flight had arrived from Bournemouth UK and carried 100 passengers who were to board the P&O cruise ship Arcadia. 100 other passengers from the ship, who were escorted from the docks with a police escort, then flew back to Bournemouth. There was no requirement to check in at Lanzarote airport as we were all treated as V.I.P's. I sat in seat 26 D on the return leg.
Very good. Used to go to the viewing deck back then, that Viscount whine was deafening.
Any pics of ground staff tartan ladies (check in or meeting/boarding flights?)
I flew on the BAC 1-11 lovely little twin engine aircraft.
The late 60s was the period just before the widebody larger jets came onto the scene, first the 747 then the L1011, dc10 and A300.
I agree with stevebeds I am an ex RAF aircraft engineer I worked on the mighty VC-10 for years and spent 30 years at LHR. You could tell the engine type from the sound. I have always preferred flying in rear engine aircraft like the VC-10, Tristar L-1011, Trident, BAC-111, DC9, 727 etc as they were the quietest. I cannot understand why no one makes rear engine airliners anymore? Their short runway high altitude take off performance was UNEQUALED by those with wing pylon engines. The high rear engines also did not suck up debris or rubbish on the ground, as some aircraft did on some countries tatty airports. Aircraft today are just BORING. Only 2 manufacturers left Boeing and Airbus (and one of them might go bust soon due to the faults on their aircraft!). The only decent airliner people still look up at is the A380 - superb machine.
the Eagles at the beginning ... beautiful :)
The first time i flew was with Monarch Airlines on a four engine aircraft from Manstone Airport to Belgium in 1966.
I was there in the early 80's.
Boeing 757 single aisle very cramped when in high tourist lay out
Great memories. Was in the tower from 1973-1978 in ATC. 👍
I just subscribed to your channel!
I honestly can't tell the difference . It sounds so REALISTIC!
What a REMARKABLE job. Well done !
Wasn't it Invicta that mended circuit boards with alradite?
Loved aircraft, but living at the end of runway 28L was no fun. Was more like being water boarded every 90 seconds.
This is probably on of the best dubs I've heard. It was right in the money and I felt like I was there!
Noisy, smoky 707s, classic airliner .
I flew on a Dokota aged 9 ish from Lympne early morning in the mid 60’s with a group of about 30 wheezing children to get treatment for asthma at a spa in La Bourboule in France. This was pre Ventolin which changed everything. No idea where we flew to but there was a very long dusty coach journey the other end. I remember the feeling of cold leather against my legs, but I wear long trousers these days 🤣🤣
Good old BCal…..😺!!
That takeoff noise must have been something.
Mc, Donnald 7 Doup
I still love the Engine Running 😢
Ill remember, it was DC10

Right
One-Eleven such a great aircraft I remember early 1990s when BA were using their odd-ball 500 on the Glasgow Tempelhofroute
I can remember seeing JFK at LGW
Brilliant enjoyed the video brings back memories 👍.
Very nice. Exactly this aircraft brought me and my grand parents from Zurich to Mombasa via Athens back in 1990 Sadly, this 757vand Caledonian are long gone...
Remember that Viking G-AHOW and visited it many times and sat in the cockpit
I flew on one of thise TAP 727..! LISBON to the Azores...very noisy plane..
Marvellous priceless jewel, thanks for sharing it, yes did notice the PA 707 rough landing.
God Speed Alan. You can just feel her screaming let me fly!
Absolutely excellent aviation film of LHR in the sixties! I joined the airline industry direct from school at 16 and was very fortunate to fly on most of the 707s/DC-8-63/DC9-32/51 plus the Swissair CV 990A Coronado and Comet 4B. Brilliant film!
Fantastic video...these days are gone now sadly
Flew LAX to Gatwick in 1974 on a British Caledonian Boeing 707-320C for some plane spotting. Some interesting equipment back in those days for sure.
I remember when I would know exactly the aircraft type just by the sound of it's engines.. watching this video reminded me of those days
Brilliant. The days when everything wasn't a B737 or A320.
