Samy deluxe is by far the best hip hop artist in Germany. Weck mich auf is an old song and today he is even better. I can only recommend his song Poesie Album

great song, but it always had an annoying contradiction in it ... complaining about how everyone is isolated, selfish and hating on others, then claiming we would be better off helping ourselves. Practicly saying we should answering being selfish with being selfish. ... miserable people "helping themself" is always just adding to the misery for society and cant be the answer because "helping youself" means very different things for different people.

Germany had a dark period in the 1990s called the "Baseballschläger-Jahre" (yes I know, such a german word again :) ). That translates to "years of the baseball bats". In that time n*zis were a huge threat esp to immigrants after the reunification of germany. They burnt shelters to the ground (just google Rostock-Lichtenhagen) and k*lled lots of people. Its a problem till today. In the meantime those racist b*tches are elected to the parliament, their party is called AfD. What a coincidence - just listend to „Weck mich auf“ on my way home for the first time in years. I actually bought the EP nearly 25 years ago as one of my First cds ever - and unfortunately this specific song aged very well. As a 14 year old living in a small town with absolutely no worries back in the days it was some „unreal deep shit“ - today when I read the news I often think that the world seems like a nightmare. You should check out „Frieden“ by K.I.Z. - it catches quiet the same mood. Thank you for your videos by the way. Greetings from Germany!

Nice reaction! Sadly timeless social critique in this one. Very hard hitting stuff. He's got loads of uplifting ones still. Very diverse rapper. This one is over 2 decades old and his style has evolved a lot. He took UK rapper Blak Twang on tour with him around the time this came out and they did a few tracks together. Over the last 2 years, he made 2 golden-age style boom bap albums produced by Morlockk Dilemma, another really talented German rapper and a few days ago, he dropped a track called "Blumen", which is quite good too. In 1998, he did a banger with Beginner called "Füchse". "Sneak Preview" with Afrob from 2003 is a floorshaker. I recommend the live performance of that one from his MTV unplugged. Btw, BSE is mad cows disease.
