these nifty little aluminum stud mounted led's are very nice for lots of car and truck lighting applications the only disappointing part is that all the sellers that i have encountered are advertising these as having high power led sellers claim between 3 and 10 watts but fact is they are all 1 watt led's give to take some mili-watts the typical current is 0.1 amps and 12 volts 0.12 amps at 14 ...

    I personally love these but, they are crap. Ive fitted them to my car and they last about 3 weeks before the lenses fall out or the water gets in the so called waterproof lights and corrodes the light chip. All of the ones i bought were from ebay as i dont seem to be able to find a decent branded source. Ive had the plain ones and the switchback type and trust me, if you want them to last longer than a month or so, dont bother because the build quality is trash for automotive use. Unless you live in a desert, these wont last very long..

      Any 12v psu would work, you would need 0.3 A at 12v, so likely a power cube from an old router or something like that would work... Most of those device's gave there outout in the fine print on the case and almost everyone has an extra one in a box of junk sonewhere

    • @MrJBA79
      @MrJBA79 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because I ordered 2 pairs. I'd like to drive one separately (for my 3D printer hot-end) on a standard 12v adapter. But I'd like to set the remaining 3 up with a stand and flexible arms to provide 3 point lighting. Won't that setup's PSU need to be 12v with a 3 watt output?

    • @oceanhouse8080
      @oceanhouse8080 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrJBA79 they draw about 100 ma each so you need a psu that supplies. About .1 amps for each eagle eye if your unsure just use a higher rated supply most small 12 volt supplies are in the 6 to 12 watt range, eagle eyes have about a 1 watt current draw...

    if you but anything on ebay, never expeect more than 1/3 of that the seller is promising. btw, for the price, most of the led bars are worth it compared to other "BRAND" lights. baught 2 7" bars for 20$ that were almost as bright as a"brand" light that cost 150$ in a local shop. have now used them for 1 year with no issues yet :)

    3030 it's basically just what LED manufactuers use to describe the LED package (dimensions of the LED 30mm x 30mm) not the model of the LEDs. What's really going on with cheap ebay light bars and LED products from china in general, is that 90% of the sellers use counterfeits or authentic but rejected Cree or Phillips LEDs on their products and inflated their specs 2-3 times, in fact many of these Light Bars have poor performance and reliability compared to higher price ones. My way of choosing a decent quality light bar would be looking at its price, optics and electronics, a decent quality 20" 3W Cree Light Bar would cost somewhere between $60-$120 to make (LEDs - $0.9 - $1.8 + $30-$50 housing), so the retail price would be $120-$240 (profits, overhead costs). Matching Optics are very important also, Light bar with custom optics that are optimised for a specific brand and model of LED has way better penetration and spread compare to those use generic off-the-shelf optics, dont get fooled by the fancy 4D 5D optics, most of them have bad beam pattern and the light scattered uncontrollably, causing dazzle and fatique.

    I was always sceptical about 9W leds. thanks for saying the truth. It is very similar with sound system wattage. they claim 50, 100 or 200 W, but the true power is most probably 10 x less. 50% of consumed electricity becomes sound, and these boxes do not consume much electricity at all. All these sellers have to lie, because otherwise they could not sell. average users don't know how to check the power.

    well you cand put themnin series because they are swamped for 12 volts 3 chips and a resistor in one package eachnine pulls about 0.1 amps so you can string a lot if then in a single bus wire, i recommend running multi core wire like that use on irrigation to feed differnt colors or sections that can be switched separately also use or 1 or 2 wire cores to carry ground so you dint have to mess with making that connection when mounting the studs

    wow ... while your ohms law was correct on amps to watts , but you really , REALLY failed on the output of the light bar ... anyone who knows about this , knows the light bar is drawing said 8.75 amps at 12 volts or 105 watts at 12 volts , that means how much power it is using , not the light output , light output is measured in Lumens ..... please educate yourself before regurgitating wrong info ... here ends the lesson for today

    • @oceanhouse8080
      @oceanhouse8080 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      total power is total power these bars are rated in watts not lumens which is a really deceptive way of measuring light in the first place and i recommend lumen ratings be ignored unless comparing devices with identical optics, total power is the sweat spot that tells the least lies!!!!!!!! since lumens are based on Flux intensity over a given area a single watt can be focused to a tiny spot and still generate a huge number of lumans which is why for example laser output is masured in watts. People that market lights have grabbed lumens and held on tight because it tells the most deceptive lies big numbers with a lower power cheaper led and a tighter focused lens this is very shameful. however with watts you understand clearly the total energy emitted so ya im not impressed with your criticism, we are talking about watts not liars lumens as that is clearly an ignorate way to market total led brightness., anything with real brightness is measured in watts, i will give in that i have had to make certain assumptions about the efficacy of each led but im not that far off for the purpose of this review

    I bought a 300 watt 30" light bar item number 111855025653 from (arrowthea) shipped from California I believe the contact is from china due to only responding at 10 pm or just after (pacific time) after watching your video I dismantled mine to find out it has 3 watt chips not 5 watt chips as the add says, now they want me to send it back for refund, they probably figure the odd time they get caught and have to pay return shipping is less than the profit they make off everyone that doesn't notice, ebay should shut down their accounts for fraudulent practices, buyer beware if u bought one from here dismantle it and look at the circuit board mine had 12 leds and said 36w do the math and its 3 watt per led

    just found this and thought i should weigh in. First, Philips as a company doesn't and has never directly developed or produced SMD LED's. BUT they did in 1999 begin a joint venture with Agilent Technologies which they called Lumileds. Now this company (a subsidiary of Philips) makes a wide range of high performance and consumer grade LED's, one of which is the 'Luxeon 3030 2D'. At this point i want to add i found all this information after about 15 minutes of looking into "philips LED bars". So yes it may not be using the advertised power but i would happily say that that light bar does in fact have a Lumiled SMD package used. A source of problem is more likey to be found in the constant current drivers required by the LED's and are most probably built to a price and in fact under power the LED's hence your lower observed value. Please please do some simple research next time before possibly ruining someone else's business.

    I just bought a led light bar from ebay. It claimed to have 5w osram LEDs from Germany in it. But for $140 AUD, I didn't expect it to be real. I received it today, and immediately opened up the whole thing. I found "cree" printed all over the the board where the led chips are. The seller also claimed to give a 2 year warranty on the product, but there's absolutely no form or number with which to lodge a complaint. Only paper that came with it is working instructions. Ill see how it goes. It's a 22 inch bar. I don't hold high hopes. You get what you pay for on the internet.

      Ocean House I'm not capable of taking measurements. I'm not savy like that. Sorry. But if it does have legit cree LEDs (the LEDs even have the lense on them to focus, not flat chips) and it puts out descent life, then I'll keep it. I bought the 22inch led light bar, from Australian ebay for $140 AUD, or $99 USD. It was delivered promptly with tracking. It is a no name brand bar, but the seller has sold thousands of units in Australia alone, and I searched on the 4wd and car enthusiast forums and found this seller to be very popular amongst drivers that have bought the bar. The ebay seller has 100% positive feedback. Many thousands of people are happy with the product. I have totally disassembled the unit, and found it is actually quite a nice product. Built well. Strong cases. Sealed correctly too. It has an ip rating of 67, and I'd agree with that. It's totally sealed up. After Christmas, I'll have it installed and fully integrated with the light branch of my car. I'm eager to see the results. If you'd like, I can message you and tell you what I think?? I've sent a message to the ebay seller, I'm waiting a reply. But I'm thinking, "hey, if I have a light bar with cree LEDs, for that price, I'm happy enough." The seller name is sunyee-au. Apparently it's an Australian company, though I doubt it. But it did ship very fast. A few days. I have pictures of the whole unit, if you'd like to see it?? :)

      +Ocean House People should already know it's fake because 33,000 lumens is a big deal. No cheap bar is capable of 300 watts. Most Rigids don't even claim that many lumens and are so extremely bright that they literally turn night into day. I haven't found a budget bar yet that comes close to Rigid. They will seem acceptable if you never do a side by side comparison. The best budget bar is probably the Rigid Industries Radiance series. There might be some other good ones for $100 less than the Radiance, but I'd rather get the Rigids for the quality.

    I bought mine at Aliexpress from seller Ccarworld and it was just the same scrap of total 96 watt. It´s not even waterproof because there is no seal anywhere! I opened a dispute thru Aliexpress and after a week with bad excuses and lots and lots of mails back and forth, I finally got a full refund and I don´t even have to return it. Now I just have to look for something better that really works. It seems like all light bars with 5watt LED:s (Philips or Osram) are fake so I think I´m going for a light bar with 3watt LED:s (Cree), they seem to be more realistic.

    • @oceanhouse8080
      @oceanhouse8080 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +FRYMAN70 i think that 5 watt chips just dont really exist in a package that can be flow soldered to a aluminuim sheet pcb, 5 watt and higher packages require a solid copper pcb, seems the manufactures think that nobody owns a or uses a VOM anymore to check there equipment. i was even offended by the fact that the 300 watt bar came with a 40 amp rated Relay harness kit with a 30 amp to furthur add to the deception.........
