A day trip to Blue Mountains 🚠⛰️🇦🇺 / Australia travel vlog 4
Hi friends! In today's video I share my day trip to Blue Mountains. To get here from Sydney, you have multiple options:
1) Get a Blue Mountains train and get off at Katoomba, then use public bus or hop on-hop off bus.
2) Take a tour
3) Rent a car

    Good to see you back. I don't think you are lazy. I think it has more to do with lack of incentive. I slow down with posts too if videos are costing more in time and money than they bring in through revenue. Profit is a good indicator of what you should do more or less of; people vote with their money. Advertisers also want a larger audience; you can see that my content has drastically changed in realization of this. In total, you are not lazy, you just find other things more rewarding currently.

      @languagetraveller 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I did multiple hikes over 3 days, as some hikes are longer. The short ones I did were Callery Gorge and Wombat walks, they are both ~1h round trip. Lake Matheson in Fox glacier is gorgeous, too. I also did Robert's Point track, which took me 5h return, so it would be a whole day, but I'm not sure it's safe to do the track now, as it's winter. I did it in spring and even then it was dangerous at points, as you have to cross waterfalls and streams and it's very slippery. There's also Arthur Knob walk (another long one, I didn't do it, as my muscles were sore after Robert track). You can also do Glacier hike or heli ride over the glaciers. It's a beautiful area.

    Hi Catherine, you need to be fit to do even the Routeburn Track. I've been over it many times, and I have often met people exhausted because of a lack of fitness, many of who were also carrying packs which were just too heavy for a three-day trip. It also sounds as if your sleeping bag was unsuitable for outdoor use ... Still, a good video all in all.

    • @languagetraveller
      @languagetraveller 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My sleeping bag was fine, why wouldn't it be suitable for sleeping outdoors? I'm the kind of person who gets cold all the time, maybe the sleeping bag was not warm for me (also I used it during summer and I was totally ok) , but it'd be good for an average person. Also, I consider myself fit enough to do this track, I wouldn't otherwise do it. Yes, my bag was heavy (due to having all the camping gear), and yes, I did struggle on the 2nd day, but I felt so happy and proud of myself for doing it.

    Nice, Good work, just tell those fast trampers you had four extra hours of beautiful scenery. Can I make a suggestion? Don't read further if no😂😅 Between outdoors experiences study, practice and rehearse the same way you do with language study. You can find lessons plans on webs for all the basics. For example google: "how to pack a pack". Also getting a tent up quickly can be a life saver, rehearse this skill before needing it. Time is never wasted on rehearsals. Do mini full dress rehearsals before you go into the real outdoors. Just a thought.

    For anyone interested. Katherine mentioned Predator Free. Predator Free 2050 is a world renowned and significant conservation effort in Aotearoa that is backed by the government. New Zealand has globally unique flora, fauna and fungi, many of which are threatened by extinction. The only indigenous land mammals are two species of tiny adorable bats, we are Islands of birds. Once mammal predators are gone birds and super adorable lizards. We as a nation intend to eradicate introduced predator species that kill an estimated 25 million birds (+lizards+amphibians+flora...) per year in Aotearoa. To experience what a urban predator free New Zealand looks like visit Miramar Wellington. Be proud of your Kārearea scars, you've been attacked by a magnificent unique and endangered falcon that can fly through dense forest at speed.

    I would say that I don't typically enjoy just having one resource because I often find that I get bored of it and need something else to do to continue to engage with the language. Also, it's hard to find one resource that covers everything in a balanced way. It also varies massively depending on the language. For example, Greek has the least amount of resources compared to my other languages (Spanish, Italian and German) and I typically focus on one text book but I am also using graded readers, netflix, lingq and a grammar drill book. I have also used GreekPod101 and Language Transfer etcetc. but it can get very difficult to balance them all and feel like I am progressing when I have too many similar resources (and other languages and life haha) German is my newest language and I enjoy using Busuu and Babbel at the same time (along with Assimil because I really wanted to try out the method haha) and I like that I am coming across the same stuff with each method but taught in a slightly different way. However, I can't add many more resources (which I tried) because then it starts to become overwhelming I love the idea of language projects and I hope it goes well with yours!! Thanks for the video 😀

    • @languagetraveller
      @languagetraveller 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for sharing! Yes, I feel the same way about using just 1 recource, I often want to switch things up, but then end up in situation where I feel like I'm doing random stuff without a plan and not progressing. I've actually been very curious about starting Greek (i've been dabbling in it for a few months now), but it's really hard to find good recources 😭

  • @SomedayKorean
    @SomedayKorean 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    These days for Korean I use a bunch of different things, but I think especially in the beginner and early intermediate stages if you can find one resource that you really enjoy that spans from easy topics to more difficult ones, it can feel really rewarding to progress along that path. It's often easier to make progress if you're following one set pathway instead of jumping around between resources that might introduce things in different orders. It's also easy to build habits when you're familiar with and have fun with one primary resource. That being said, I think supplementing that resource with media and other resources here and there can spice things up or explain concepts that you don't understand. (I think especially for grammar concepts, it can be nice to have one set resource that you use, since those things often build on each other) That being said, I don't think there's anything wrong with using a bunch of different resources and jumping around -- it just not might not feel as cohesive, and for grammar stuff, there could be some repetition or missing gaps in the things that you learn. But as far as reading, listening, and that kind of stuff, I really think it's not a huge deal to jump around. Again, using the same resource for a long time can help you build a sense of familiarity with that writer/speaker or the general layout of the resource and how it's set up, but regardless you're going to be improving your reading/listening skills.

    • @languagetraveller
      @languagetraveller 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I totally agree with you! I think using just 1 recource might feel very limiting and boring, that's why I'm still gonna use a ton of different things, just whatever I feel that day, but these will be recources I eventually want to finish. I'm really interested in Italian culture and history, but without this commitment I will never go on that website to read those historical articles (also becsuse they are slightly above my level, so I tend to stick to easier things and never step out of my comfort zone). Same with Nicos Weg - I've been using it since March, but I've only done like 20 lessons, even though I know they are effective. So if i ever feel lost or don't know what to study that day, I'll remember about these ptojects and use those recources.

    For reference for new hikers. On such a track 3 km/h wiith a 25kg pack is a good fitness level. Once you can do this for 6 hours you are ready for harder things. At that level of fitness you can walk yourself out of trouble almost anywhere in Aotearoa.
