I recorded this show on VHS back in the 1990s; Nanci's appearance on the show was done in three segments, so I transferred each segment to digital and uploaded them as separate parts to TH-cam (you can find them on my channel). In retrospect, I should have taken the time to merge them together as one, but I was in a hurry that day. Within a day of the postings, however, another TH-camr (one tha...

I recorded this on VHS years ago using a antenna; obviously, my reception was not good that night, so I apologize for the poor quality. Also, this is a repost since there seemed to be a problem with my TH-cam app regarding the first post; the video seem to be fully uploaded and was able to be watched but my device kept saying that the video was still uploading, so I was forced to delete it and ...

I know Nanci Griffith fans have been wanting this for a while and since I was devastated by her recent passing, I decided to post it in her honor. This video came from an old VHS tape that was copied from an even older VHS tape, so don't expect great quality but it's better than nothing, right? The VHS to digital transfer was done courtesy of an EasyCAP device and a wonderful program called Deb...

Getting Nancy's music voice wordx & lyrics in front as many people as possible probably should take precedence over some other youtuber scooping you on your own material that you scooped off broadcast tv. But good on you mate, for having the forethought to ever record it on VHS in the first place. Nanci knows the difference & who archived the original material. You Go Bro!

So beautiful and so painful to see NG and ET sing together. I wish they still aired Mountain Stage on PBS TV - it’s great radio and I love the livestreams when they have them. But it would be wonderful to see this show on PBS here in Minneapolis TPT

I remember the promo for this episode. From the first line of "Once in a Very Blue Moon," I was smitten. It's interesting how many of these comments feel personal, like mine. Not many artists can touch people the way she did.

In case you haven't yet discovered them (as her 'best' music isn't available on Apple or Amazon streaming) I hope you'll find her 'Poet in my Window' and 'Once in a Very Blue Moon' records. Both have that rare quality of recordings one never tires of hearing. I saw Nanci perform many times and met her once. A truly enigmatic person and performer. She had an irresistible attraction about her, somehow combined with a perplexing inexplicable distance. She left us with so much. We're so fortunate to enjoy it.

Her abrupt exit from the stage during "Spin On a Red Brick Floor" has me scratching my head. Could she no longer resist the call of nature? I should imagine it had something to do with the concert being squeezed into the tight parameters of a TV show. Did she return to the stage for an untelevised encore or at least to thank the audience and bid them a farewell? Don't get me wrong. I'm a big Nanci Griffith fan and have never once heard of her disrespecting or cheating her audiences. Rather, she was always adored by her audiences. Her departure here was just weird and some might even say rude. I am more than willing to give her the benefit of the doubt, and if anybody knows what prompted it, please share.

Felt a sense of betrayal from my local fm radio station for never introducing me to Nanci. Fortunately I found her on late-nite ACL after a few shots of Jack, and was immediately smitten and transported to other times and places. The radio station that had introduced me to Gordon Lightfoot and Tom Rush, John Prine and others, failed due to the death of one dj who insisted on playing artists who didn't fall into categories

Thank you for the effort in getting this up here. Nancy was surely a unique artist, a singular lady. Philip Donnelly passed in late 2019, just a few months before his lifelong friend John Prine and sadly then Nancy herself. Philip was instrumental in expanding Nancy's reach and popularity in Ireland and Northern Europe. Others helped too as JP's wonderful speed of the sound arranged by Donnelly made big in Europe, Wonderful folk, country and RnR legends that were not afraid to try something different. Rest gently in peace, each and every one of them 🙏🙏❤️
