This is so beautiful. I want very much to make one just like it. Thanks for the tutorial 😍
@@iknithappy you are very welcome, glad you like it😊😊😊
As an absolute beginner, this was excellent! Exactly what I needed! I also think you did an amazing job of making sure everything you did was on screen! Nothing more frustrating than when the hands disappear and come back into frame with something done haha Thanks!!!!
@@SLS6202 Thank you ☺️ Glad you found it helpful 😊😊
Loved the video but how did you finish it. How would you do the backing as it now has raw edges.
Thanks. If you use this method to make a quilt you would have to add a backing, I will do in the future. This method is great for cushion covers too.☺️☺️
I am new to sewing/quilting. My question pertains to finishing the backside. I understand the stitching is hidden under the binding on the front but what about the backside?
Thanks for your question. It is hand stitched on the reverse side. Because there is a lot of fabric between the binding due to the gathering of the ruffle it would be quite tricky to machine stitch. I hope this helps. 😊😊
Thank you for answering. I rewarched the video. I missed the end the first time, where you explained exactly what I was asking about. Your video is very clear. Thank you!
You did alot better than i would. Very practical station you have. Nice
Thank you. It’s not perfect but works well 😊😊
Love that
Thank you 😊😊
Very nice. Love those colors

Excellent tutorial.
Glad you liked it! Thank you ☺️ I’m
Great video Jo! I finally started my TH-cam channel after being inspired by you! ❤
That’s brilliant. I hope it goes well for you😊😊😊
I need help. My old kenmore and my newer brother machine dont stay straight when trying to sew a quarter of an inch. What would cause that. Even sewing slow it likes to drift to the left
Keeping a straight seem is not easy. I do have a video on 14 inch seam, I find using a special 1/4 seam foot the best way to keep the seam straight. 😊
❤❤❤❤
Thank you!! 😍
Very well explained, I actually understood what I needed to do. And they come out beautiful
@@MaureenAlmeida-u3f Thank you. I am glad you were able to understand my tutorial. 😊😊😊
Hello! I want to say I stumbled across your channel today and you now have a new subscriber! I love how you explain everything. Very detailed without repeating yourself. You also have tutorials on many things I’ve wanted to do and some things I’ve done. Your channel is quite similar to my interests in sewing.
Thank you so much!! 😊😊😊

Thank you so much. Gracias! 😊😊😊
Thank you for making this video! Could I ask which batting you use and where it’s from? There’s so many it’s a bit confusing for a beginner!
Thank you for watching. I use Hobbs Heirloom cotton batting. You can purchase it from eBay.😊😊😊
@@JoSmith-wellhousestitches thank you !!!😊
I’m just beginning to get into quilting as the next part of my sewing journey and I love your videos! Thanks for making them ❤

I’m getting ready to sash a quilt and I like the tip on how you line up the vertical sashing. Thank you !
Thanks. I hope your sashing goes well! 😊😊😊
I appreciate this. I have a question. Could I make strips and sew strips . Then cut.. Then connected ? Pink cream strip set Green cream strip set- I’m just wondering - to save a bit of time
I'm not quite sure how you would make a disappearing four patch using strips, but you don't have to use a disappearing four patch, you could use the same method to join your finished blocks and use ant type of block you like. I hope this makes sense.
This is interesting; but, it still looks heavy.
Hi yes there are a few layers of fabric in places but I did use quite a heavy fabric as I was using up scraps and had to use what I had 😊
There's many variations of doing the cathedral wwindows, each that I've seen says you will not need batting or a backing due to the amount of fabric required to do the pattern. Each of them turned out pretty weighty but beautiful.
So glad I found this tutorial. Explains the process from start to finish. Thank you from a novice quilter.
Thank you! You are very welcome 😊😊
I absolutely love this quilt! You have inspired me. Thank you! ❤
Thank you 😊😊😊
Hello from South Africa thanks for sharing as I am going to make a quilt for the very first time love your video.where could I get that small iron.
Thanks for watching. I bought my iron from eBay. Good luck with your quilt. 😊😊😊
Many thanks for sharing this video - of all the cathedral window techniques I’ve seen on TH-cam this seems the best in my opinion!

Excellent and thorough tutorial!!!
Thank you so much!!😊😊
Thank you for sharing this! I too have lots of scrap pieces and will definitely do this!! ❤😘💐
You are welcome. It's a great way to use up all those scraps.😊😊
Thankyou for doing this, it’s just what I needed for all my lovely scraps of fabric. I’m very excited to start this. ❤
You are welcome. Enjoy using your scraps 😊😊
Thanks for sharing :) do you have to round off the corners?
Thanks for watching and yes round off the corners before adding the frill. I used an 8 inch plate to draw around. 😊😊😊
new subscriber. thank you.
Thank you and welcome 😊😊😊
I'm so pleased you use inches!! And thank you so much for not having annoying music! And thank you for using light coloured fabric. I was trying to find a decent tutorial on bias making and one of the sewists I watched used dark fabric and her piece was so small you couldn't see what she was doing at all. Thank you!
Thank you for your kind comments. My Mum taught me to sew in the early 1970s and here in the UK but we were still using imperial measurements, we were taught metric at school so I am lucky to be able to use inches and cm. Thank you 😊😊
Would ironing the folded edges help keep the shape of the window? Or maybe I just need to practice my sewing because I always sew off the edge or the sewing line is not as smooth as I would like. Also the fabric seems to shift a lot.
Hi thanks for your question. I wouldn't advise ironing. It takes practice, no one gets it perfect first time. Take your time and sew slowly, if you have a slow setting on your machine use it. I hope this helps but really it is just practice and don't be too harsh on yourself, I'm sure it's better than you think. 😊😊😊
Very informative thankyou
You are very welcome, thanks for watching.😊😊😊
I was watch the video again. You have a great way of explaining. I have watched so many on quilting. Your the best
Oh thank you so much, very kind of you. 😊😊😊

You are welcome. Thank you 😊😊
I love the idea of making multiple projects from a single fat quarter! Can you please make another one when you have time? Thank you!!!
Funnily enough I have been thinking about making another similar project. Hopefully in the next few weeks I will put a video out. 😊😊
This is bigger than my fat quarters ours are only 50 x 48
Oh I thought all fat quarters were 50 cm x 55 cm or 20 inch x 22 inch. When I do my next fat quarter project I will make sure it can also be done in a smaller size. 😊😊
I just happened upon your video while searching. You have just made me a FAN! 4-projects out of a 1/4 pc of fabric. Fantastic!! Great for a retiree beginner such as myself. No waste of fabric whatsoever. I watched twice to believe what I was witnessing. Thank you so much for sharing your skills to No-Waste fabric.
Thanks. I am thinking of doing another fat quarter project soon. 😊😊
You're so talented & make everything you do look so easy! Brilliant! 💕 I've got 2 things to start on when I'm well again then I'm going to give this one a go! Thank you😊 PS, Marion & you are my favorites on TH-cam 💕💯 xx

Looks amazing- the quilt & the ruffles. I love ruffles- add them to my home made pillows. However, I’m attempting my first big quilt and would like to add ruffles to it as well so thank you (if you have a suggestion on how to only do ruffles to the top and bottom but leave the sides (with binding) let me know if possible & maybe a video on how to 😅
