Would toilet paper work?
@@franciliguori4689 it depends on the quality and thinness of the ply. If you didn’t have Kleenex or puffs tissue, then TP would be a secondary option.
Put in new driver brand new blade , still doesn't cut
So when I tried this test with a pair of secondhand shears I just bought, the blades did not cut the first cm or so on the tissue (rather it folded and tore), but the rest of it cut cleanly all the way to the tip of the blades. Does this mean the portion of the blades near the pivot point need to be sharpened, or is this a tension issue? They did pass the tension test you described in this video.
@@allioto32 it means that part of the shear is dulled out.. it’s usually from deep slide cutting or putting the thumb too far in the thumb ring when cutting hair. I sharpen all brands of shears through my mail order on my website. www.kutaboveperfection.com Keep me posted, thanks for watching the video 🤙
Can you make a video about how to split an atom?
New blabe 5 skip tooth , New clippers won't cut poodles coat
Make sure your blade drive isn’t worn, if your a full time groomer change it every 3 months minimum. Otherwise the blade needs to be sharpened because a lot of companies are having their blades made and sharpened over sees and the overall quality has gone done. I like Zolita and Heinger blades right now only. Send me your blades and I will make sure it’s better than anything you ever had. www.kutaboveperfection.com Stay sharp!

Good tip on putting the lapping plate on the holder when bevelling the stone edges. Might want to add you only need TINY/none pressure on the diam plate when lapping, just enough for the entire surface to contact. I do the stone edges/corners bevelling less aggressively, I'm worried it might chip off the ceramics and the chip will only get bigger as time goes.
This is great thank you. I've also heard of people using a damp tissue. What do you think, wet or dry tissue? Or both?
Dry tissue is the test they should pass while being used out in the field cutting hair. when they are freshly sharpened by a professional they should pass the wet tissue test. It should always pass the dry tissue test , if it can no longer cut all the way through the dry tissue, then the shear needs to be sharpened.I hope this gives you clarity.
Fixed it. thank you

put on brand new Andis ultraedge 1.5 mm, #10 blade on new Andis clipper..will not turn on..all other blades work fine so it's something wrong/bad w/this blade..any help would be greately appreceiated..thanks!
Most likely the ears of the socket is set too tight so when you close the new clipper blade on to the clipper nothing happens. While the clipper is running I would use three or four times more force to close the clipper blade onto the clipper, Sometimes a tight socket will close completely and should start working at that point. If that doesn’t work send it back for a new one.
@@kutaboveperfection Thanks very much, I'll check that out.
I sharpened my blades on a stone, they’re nice and shiny smooth but they are pulling hair. My blade drive is fine. What else can be the problem?
I would stop sharpening your blades and have them professionally sharpened for starters. To sharpen a detachable blade there are about 15 different steps to service them to factory new condition. This requires lots of pricey equipment and excellent training with lots of experience. You tube barber sharpening videos are very misleading. To resolve your clipper blade issues I recommend sending them out to my mail order sharpening on my website at www.kutaboveperfection.com
you going to show it cut some wet paper?
Brand new Figura cordless and clipper keeps popping off. Recommendations?
If the blade keeps popping off then you probably have a broken tab on the bottom part of the plastic platform. You can take a picture of the bottom of the blade that faces inside the clipper and I can confirm that for you. My contact info is on my website. Thanks!
Clueless! This is retro before retro. Unreal!
Thanks for commenting, however I’m not understanding the point you are conveying.
how do you replace the parts you identify as a problem?
I recommend having your local clipper sharpener replace the worn out parts.
Where's the livestream where you are responding to my comment??? It’s lazy and disingenuous. Don’t have a comment section if you don’t engage like a human being to people.

Can I just buy the clamp?
Yes you can ! At www.kutaboveperfection.com
Hi, great video! I am currently considering buying the shapton pro 320, 2000, 8000. My lapping plate I am considering is an atoma 400. Can you use an atoma 400 on a 320 stoe?
Yes you can use it on a #320 stone however it will cause your stone to cut less aggressive initially. I recommend the #140 grit Atoma on stones under 2k and the #400 Atoma for stones over 2k in grit rating. Hope this helps. Stay sharp!🤙
Could you take the arm off and show it?
Hi, i love your videos. they are so imformative. I do have a question though. I have an andis dog clipper blade size 10 ultra edge that is dragging and pulling the hair, but its a new blade. And the clippers I have dont make any other blades that I have do that. This is the only blade that does it. do you have anymore reccomnedations.
Thanks for watching my videos.! You might want to check the blade set back and make sure that the cutter blade is properly centered and not crooked on top of your comb blade. If that looks straight and even , then it may need to be sharpened or you might want to replace your blade drive first , if it hasn’t been replaced in a while. When you’re ready for Sharpening you can send them to me via my Mail order through my website. Keep me posted, thanks 😊 www.kutaboveperfection.com
I have Andis UltraEdge Super 2-Speed Detachable Blade Clipper, Professional Animal/Dog Grooming, AGC2, I used it once on a matted sheep dog, now it will not cut hair, I cleaned it after using it, oiled it, it comes on but barley cuts the dog hair and pulls the hair, I hope you can help me
When cutting through matted hair your also cutting through debris that most likely dulled out your blade. That’s why pets need to be combed out on a regular so they won’t get matted and need a shave down at the groomers. You might want to replace the blade to make sure , but I think the matted hair dulled your blade. I sharpen grooming shears and detachable clipper blades, so let me know if you want me to sharpen them. I have a mail order sharpening service on my website. wwwkutaboveperfection.com Keep me posted and thanks for watching my video 😊

PLEASE HELP*** Hey this is a great video on troubleshooting! I have kind of a unique issue that none of my coworkers have seen before. My blade is noisy just like in this video. But all my equipment is brand new and what you discussed in the video doesn’t look like that is the issue. This specific buttercut #30 blade is making noise like that but only on my clipper specifically, not making the noise on my coworkers clipper. Other blades aren’t making that noise though on my clipper. I have slid out the blade and gave it a good cleaning but same issue. The #30 making the noise is also brand new with only a week of use. The ears look perfectly straight. And the latch on my clippers is tight. The clipper being used is the Oster A5 turbo, the blade that has the issue is a Buttercut 30. Again, Only this blade is making noise with this clipper.
I would have your clipper guy tighten up the socket to double check. if your clipper has a higher speed than your coworkers then that might show from the speed of your clipper a difference in noise . Without physically looking at your clipper with my own set of eyes that would just be an educated guess. Also make sure your blade drive is new to rule out any other variables. Keep me posted when you find out what it is. 👍
I recently dropped my clippers and now it has a rattling nose and does not feel to be cutting 🤯
Depending on what type of clipper you have , whether it has detachable blades or non-detachable blades, I would imagine the blade assembly has been thrown off. I would have your local clipper blade sharpener have a look at it to remedy issue. If you don’t have a specific Sharpener for that you can send them in to me through my website. www.kutaboveperfection.com
Some of my blades are extremely noisy, I think they are too tight. What could be the issue/how to fix that?
noisy blades as I mention in the video are indicative of the sockets being loose and need to be tightened by your local clipper blade sharpener. You can also send them in to me and I can take care of them as well. also if all your blades are noisy it could be that your latch is loose or worn out and needs to be tightened up or replaced . I hope this helps keep me posted😊
Thank you for an excellent video Josh - you have saved me from noisey clipper! Thank you from Sarah in Australia 😊🐶
A very good presentation!
Simple and straight forward, Great video, Liked! I have got a question my scissors when open at 3 o'clock does not fall, even if shaked, will it be problematic for just cutting a couple of hairs at a time?
Thanks for watching the video👍 if the blade does not fall at all , it can tend to push the hair while blunt cutting, throwing off the precision of cut. If you’re only cutting a few hairs at a time it won’t not be an issue.
Which clipper oil is better, andis or wahl? Thanks
It’s pretty much all the same in my opinion.
Thanks so much! Its so hard to find reliable information about shears without endorsements, etc. Thank you for just presenting the facts I needed

Great information. Very helpful!
Great info
My 7F blade wont cut but my 10 blade will. Clippers recently serviced and both blades have just been sharpened. Any ideas?
The latch that holds the blade onto the clipper may be getting worn out. The blades set back on the F7 may be off or just needs to be re-sharpening due to an improper grind. Other than that it’s hard to say without specifically looking at the clipper and the blade.
Can I ask when I do the tissue test . I press down on the shear and do I press down till it gets to the end of the cut . Or just do one quick press and see if it cuts to the end . I and to keep pressing till it cut to the end but it did do a clean cut
Press down on the handle until the blade closes all the way until the tips of the shear cross over each other, then check to see if it cut though the tissue along the length of the blade. If there is a part of the blade that doesn’t cut all the way through the tissue, then that’s where the blades of the shear are dull and need to be sharpened.👍
@@kutaboveperfection thank you so much . This is so so useful to me . I have bought new scissors and yes they cut cleanly . When I pressed down till the end . I wouldn't have had a clue how to test them till I saw this video. You are so helpful and kind
Love this. Thank you . I did the test and my hairdressing scissors only cut about an inch of the tissue oooops . I bought them for home use . They were excellent at first . I noticed split ends after cutting . So now I know why so thank you
I’m glad found this video helpful. When you’re ready, I offer mail order shear sharpening through my website. www.kutaboveperfection.com Once I receive them in the mail, I can have them factory sharpened by me and sent back to you in a couple of business days 😊
@@kutaboveperfection sorry checked your site . I am in UK. Shame because I would have chosen you . Good luck with Yr business though I tested my scissors and they cut the first cm only . Ooops. Do u believe in folding sandpaper and cutting it to get scissors a little sharper . They were good scissors . I only cut about 4 family members hair for free.
Carole H No worries Carol, I appreciate your kind words. I wouldn’t recommend cutting through sandpaper as it would only dull out the shears more in most cases. Best of luck😊
I’ve a brand new supra and 00000 blade that is catching any ideas ? Thanks
Check the blade drive to see if it’s worn. Also make sure your latch that holds the blade on isn’t loose either. If those two things don’t work then you might need that blade to be resharpened. Factory blades are using automation sharpening /AI, can’t do what a human can do😉 I have mail Order sharpening through my website for shears and clipper blades. www.kutaboveperfection.com Keep me posted! Thanks 😊
Wahl or Andis oil?
either one is fine.
how many knives can i sharpen on a stone with 1000 grit thanks 😊
I will know 😌
Depends how hard the stone is that you are Sharpening off of. generally the harder the stone the less likely it is to dish out and need lapping. Hundreds of knives can sharpened off of a stone if it is a quality stone and well-maintained by the user. I hope this helps thanks for watching🤙
I removed it and now I can’t get it back on help !!
what specifically did you remove?
After only using on my standard poodle a few times the blade well not cut her hair. I paid around $300.00 for this km10 wahl, what a waste of money.
It could be a clipper blade issue if the cutting speed of the clipper is fast enough. if it's a cordless clipper keep in mind new tech. needs more time to get the kinks worked out before it's considered reliable.
I have a pair of scissors that I just use for cutting my own individual split ends (I have very long hair and trying to maintain the length). It closes all the way when I let go like you showed in the beginning. Would this be an issue if I'm just using it to cut a single strand at a time? I tried cutting the tissue as shown and it worked fine.
hey Anita! Not really because your not cutting under any real load, however it does throw off the pressure point of the blades as they cross over each other and will prematurely dull out the tips of your shear as you keep using them. when your ready for sharpening I have my mail order sharpening i offer through my website at www.kutaboveperfection.com Stay sharp!
I’m so pleased to find your videos! I’ve been so frustrated with the newer Oster blades NOT CLIPPING! I had no idea it could be my clippers! Can the Atoma diamond lapping stone be used on a low grit carborundum sharpening stone?
THANK YOU for a simple and thorough explanation...it is GREATLY appreciated🤗
The brass screw hinge anchors pulled from body of my Oster 76 causing drive lever not to engage and severely rattle. New replacement housing replaced.
I have bought a brand new oster 97. I have oiled the new blade but it rattles. Is that normal? Or do i need to adjust it?
ksahman98 Based on the video most likely your socket is loose , and the ears of the socket need to be bent back again at a 90° angle so they stay tightly fitted to the latch of the clipper. Have your local clipper blade sharpener reset the socket and try it again. Hope that helps!🤙
@@kutaboveperfection I will try that, thanks!
I recently inquired a canine fx dog clipper as taking the white cover off to clean the hair out it was full of grease I mean full ...I cleaned it out best as I could ...but y was all this grease there is it suppose to be there ...took each part and cleaned with dawn worked very well ..so as to putting it back together do I put more clipper grease back in there
Joni Belz it wouldn’t hurt to put a little bit of red Oster grease on the linkage where the blade drive sits.
