The Care and Release of a Snapping Turtle Named Julia
This gorgeous Common Snapping Turtle came to Wild Care after being hit by a car in Orleans. The turtle suffered a shell fracture that was repaired by Jennifer Taylor, our Animal Care Coordinator, using beeswax and aluminum tape. This turtle, nicknamed "Julia", healed well and captured all of our hearts here at Wild Care with her charisma and beauty. Julia is likely over 30 years old. This lucky juvenile Fish Crow was found in the second floor chimney of the Bookstore and Restaurant on July 30th, 2024. The bird was dehydrated and could barely stand. Wild Care received a call about a Great Horned Owl trapped in a fireplace in Orleans. This was one lucky owl! Red-tailed Hawk release by Wild Care Cape Cod

This gorgeous Red-tailed Hawk was found in South Yarmouth after suffering a fractured wing from a possible vehicle strike. Wild Care staff applied a splint and bandage to the injured wing, and once well enough the hawk was moved to our large aviary so we could observe its flight post injury. This gorgeous Common Loon was found stranded in a driveway in West Barnstable. The bird was debilitated, and remained in our care for over 20 days. A beautiful Common Loon was found in a garden in East Orleans after being blown in after a storm. Common Loons cannot walk or stand once they are on land. It made a full recovery at Wild Care and was released a few days later. We just love the peaceful call of this beautiful bird as it makes its return to the wild.
