    This is one video that forced me to change my mind and buy not FX30, but S5 IIX. And I understand, that video can't be an hour long, and even this length is enough. But to be clear - it sells Lumix VERY short. Panasonic looks downright UNFAIR in comparison to any peers, and is MUCH better than it looks in the video. Even before the godlike update of AF. You can overlay picture over the video feed, like for a movie production (Sheer overlay). You can use the build-in feature to make artificial pulls or zooms not in editor, but in camera, even in 6K opengate (Live Cropping). You can use BOTH Real Time Luts and Preview Lut in V-Log View Assist. Dustin Armstrong found out that You can use manual S35 lenses in 6K opengate with minimal crop, while using the advanced stabilization - with much less crop overall and Gimbal-level IS. Also Dustin found out that You can even put Real Time Lut on a PROXY file, while having OG file in V-LOG. S5 IIX not a gold nugget. It's a f*cking Appalachian mountains.

      I largely agree that S5iix is a wildly good camera. I do think that for some the weaker ecosystem hurts. But it’s the best camera for the money no doubt.

    • @denblendaman-826
      @denblendaman-826 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@thecameranerdschannel what type of ecosystem we're talking about? Panasonic has, AFAIK, no mics for hot shoe, but there is an XLR adapter. Sony lens line is stellar, but Panasonic has Leica, and Canon EF/EF-S. Not the same, but very close. What else? SSDs? Sony doesn't support them natively, S5 IIX does. Cages? S5 II has a lot of accessories like that. The Sony App is probably better, but it is not hard to do, since Panasonic's one is very... old-minded.

    Nice! can you please make a video with the 45mm with a scene with much chromatic abberation at lowest F stop, then I would like to see how increasing the F number have an effect on the chromatic abberation and also bokeh, for me it seems like this lens have way too much CA at T2.0, so wonder if its more usable higher up without loosing to much smooth bokeh

    There's no way the Lumix S5IIx could a better video professional camera than the Sony Cinema Camera FX30. But I could agree with you, understanding your reason why, just if it is a buyer review for the Lumix, or just a review of a Lumix fanboy

      if your sensor is 16:9, just multiply the 16 (the horizontal measurement that will be desqueezed) with the squeeze. So 16 * 1.5 = 24 -> 24:9 which 24/9 = a 2.67:1 ratio compared to a 2.4:1 or a 2.39:1 ratio that is the usual widescreen. If this was a 2x lens then you'd have a super wide 32:9 or 3.55:1 ratio. If 1.33x stretch, then you'd get a practically perfect 2.39:1 ratio with a 16:9 sensor.

      @thecameranerdschannel But thats a one sided comparison. That's like ima compare the Sony a6700 to the Sony A7 VI. Both are pro and great but one is full frame and one is aps-c. But both are hybrid cameras. But if your main factor is price than ok. But seems lopsided like there is something wrong with the FX30 and its not. But comparing the S5IIX to the FX3 is on a different lvl. And Panasonic would win with price but thats all. None the less cool video, just hope next time you would compare cameras of the same size sensor. Regardless of price

    • @LindonSlaght
      @LindonSlaght หลายเดือนก่อน

      I feel like people don't understand how hard it is to make a camera that doesn't overheat. Basically no camera with a fan can be waterproof, meaning that no hybrid camera worth it's salt can be classed as professional. Weather resistance is a must for pro photography work. Those two things can't exist on the same camera. The day a company innovates that into existence, will change everything.

  • @samhawkes6597

    i much prefer the sony fx30 for what I do. I know its not full frame, but full frame isnt everything and with the right lenses and skill you wouldnt know im shooting with an apsc. I just prefer the usability of the fx30. from the grip and how it feels in the hand, to the really simple and easy to use menu system, to the 4k 120fps slow motion, the auto focus and everything mentioned in this video. I think, if I needed to take high quality photos as well as videos, then Id probably go for the panasonic, but then if I needed a high quality hybrid it would be an alternative sony camera. But for video, I love the fx series.

    • @thecameranerdschannel
      @thecameranerdschannel หลายเดือนก่อน

      The fx30 is amazing, and there are some really hard hitting lenses for Sony apsc. Sounds like you made the right choice for you! I still think I’d go with the s5iix in a vacuum, but the Sony ecosystem as a whole is just so good, it makes it a better over all choice for tons of people.

    Something that not a lot of people know about (understandably) is that Panasonic is quietly developing an in house sensor which I think it huge with how their bodies could be looking after the S5iiX, I don’t think we will see these in house sensors for another 5-7 years but that isn’t very long in camera time. I’m glad I bought into Panasonic after years of hopping brands. It’s where I started and it’s where I’m staying.😊

  • @SomewhatAbnormal

    I'm a massive fan of the Panasonic Lumix releases in the past couple years. I have experience with Sony, Canon, Fuji and Nikon for both video and stills. But, none of these compare to my Panasonic BS1H, which is fully geared toward video. It's a box camera without an LED, so you'll need an external monitor. But, if you're recording 6K RAW, you're using either a Blackmagic Video Assist or a Ninja. I have both, and I switch back and forth as to which I prefer. Anyway, some of my favorite features on the BS1H... Both SDI and HDMI output simultaneously, which means I can use the Ninja and and SDI EVF simultaneously. A dedicated time code port. Ability to use 180 degree shutter - or really any shutter angle. Small form factor, but really well built. I understand that a video centric box camera with no LED is not ideal for everyone, but if you're serious about making independent movies or documentaries, it's really one of the least expensive and best choices. Having said this, I'm going to add an S5IIx as my B-Cam, or I'll use it for times when a larger built out rig is not practical. The S5IIx also gives me still capabilities in the event I need stills. I tend to agree with you that the industry seems to focus more on a balanced hybrid approach - they seem to take a stills camera and add video functionality. I feel the future is the reverse of this - more focus on video capabilities and less focus on stills.

    I have the Lumix s5ii. Image quality is insane. I do have the Lumix GH6 though and I get the same image quality on it though, since the colors that come out of that is the same. Its a micro 4/3 system though, I get a 2x crop. I just place the camera a little further back when I make my workout videos to make up for it. FX30 is APS-C crop system, its not bad, better than your iPhone you're carrying around in your pocket, still a massive sensor compared to a phone. The s5ii will crop in anything higher than 30fps though. I'll just use the same technique I use on the GH6 to get a wider perspective. For workouts, have to go wide, people can't see what I'm doing if the camera is close. Interviews and making product videos though, have the camera close, it makes sense then. Going wide won't do anything good then. Hey though, crop sensors aren't a bad thing, they have their use, its actually good if you want to get really close up shots, for photography. They all do photography as well, its a hybird system, they're just more built for videos.
