    I used Schoenfeld headers with 1-3/4 primaries and 3" collectors. I had them ceramic coated. The rest of the exhaust was done with stainless mandrel bent tubing. with an X pipe and stainless race mufflers. I used band clamps on everything including the header connection. The big problem I ran into was finding square port headers with large tubes for angle plug heads in a Corvette. The only modification to the headers was the collector had to be turned down 15° to clear the floor. They tuck up close to the underside and have nice clearance for the Milodon road race pan. I converted my car to a 4L80E transmission so my rear crossmember has clearance for dual exhaust.

    • @33milegarage34

      A few indicators the value is going bad. The steering wheel will be harder to turn in one direction then the other this could also mean it’s out of adjustment. Other signs after the valve is adjusted to be centered it doesn’t hold the adjustment and starts to pull to one side. Thanks for watching and hope this helps you out.

      I believe the newer C3 fuel gauges like the older ones should read 0-90 ohms. Are you getting reading in that range? If not the sending unit is bad or not grounded properly. Also your new gauge could be set for a different ohm reading some gauges have an option to read in a different ohms depending on the sending unit you have. Thanks for watching and the question hope this helps you out.

    Mike, I have a 1970 LS5, do you know how much more difficult is it to install the Doug’s headers on a 454 big block? I’m sure it’s a much tighter fit trying to fish the headers into place with a BB.

    • @33milegarage34
      @33milegarage34 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I would think for a big block car you may need to take the engine mount bolts out and lift the engine up a bit to do it. I have no sponsorship from Doug’sHeader but it”s a great product that fits very good. Good luck and let me know how it goes. Thanks for watching!

    I have watched your video and love the detail. I have no power under the hood nor at the wiper switch on my 1971. The fust has power on both sides. I am not sure what year vehicle your video is on and wonder if it is the same for a 71. Using my inspection camera I do not see a solenoid on the back of my tach. Do you know if it is in a different location on a 71 or am just missing it. The issue started when I removed the factory radio and had it upgraded and reinstalled. Thanks

    • @33milegarage34
      @33milegarage34 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Our corvette is a 1970 so it should be the same. The electrical side of the wipers are a grounded switch system so if the system worked before the radio install you would want to go back and inspect all the ground wires and connections, it’s easy to break the ground wires and pull out the connections while installing a new radio. It’s also possible at some point the actuator got bypassed and removed. Thanks for watching and I hope this helps out.

    You did an excellent job. A lot of work but in the end we can see you have updated the Vette for the better. I am working on my 1976 Corvette installing Inteletronix gauges in a blue color since my car is white with Buckskin interior. Tomorrow I start looking at installing an after market wiring loom as the dash is pulled completely off now and I have power windows and want to install power door locks with an alarm. I have owned the Corvette for 17 years and at 73 years old now I am wanting it finish it and updated it. Your Video gave me additional insights as well as courage to keep moving on with it. The inteletronix I am installing was pretty simple once gauges were removed and on the work bench they look good when I applied power for testing. I was wanting to go with Dakota or needle gauges like yours, but my wife liked the Blue digital and at $440 not a bad price. Good job with the Video as it was pretty professional and well made. 👍👍

      If my budget holds out I’m planning to swap a Coyote 5.0L out of a Mustang into it. But they aren’t free…I need to sell a few cars to to pay for it. LOL

    I keep having overheating in my 03 jeep tj. I replaced the radiator thermostat water pump clutch fan head casket. I checked all the relay and its still overheated. I realized after i installed topfire style front grille i start to get overheat. I took it off, everything went back to normal. (It was not enough air flow to the radiator from the peice of crap i installed)

      Yeah. I’m sure that was frustrating! I’m not a fan of the aftermarket grills but It’s my daughters Jeep and she likes it, and it doesn’t really block air flow. Thanks for commenting and watching

    Hey Mike, my wiper problem is that i do not get 12 volts to the plug right after the switch that is activated by the wiper door, i am talking about the red wires with the white stripe. I open the wiper door manually to activate the switch but no voltage. Wiper switch is good, fuses are good, everything is ok but still no 12 volts. Any suggestions? Frank

      So no power to the plug . You will need to start un wrapping and testing the wire until you find the break or short. It’s a bit time consuming but not that bad. Most of the time the wire coating is damaged and the wire gets corroded and fails.You can jumper past the switch to test the rest of the system. But please go and find the break or short. Electrical shorts have burned up so many nice cars. Thanks for watching and good luck!

      It’s a factory over ride switch for the head lights . Kinda a cool feature. Thanks for watching and the comment!

      That’s cool… it’s hard to find complete cars now. Would you engine swap or keep the six?

    Oh man... I aplaude your resolution to repair the vehicle! I'd do that, I'd have to be wrapped up in tape the next day! Some words come to my mind watching this: anti-seize is one of them. WD-40 penetrating miracle and Sado-masochism are others. I'll have to do a similar stuff for my 2002 Forrester next, althogh not that bad. The problem...I'm not a spring chicken anymore, and just coffing produces pain! Our love for these things is beyond comprehension. One more thing: when you had the cross member out and down, why didn't you treat it all aswell? Thanks a lot for video!! 😊

      Thanks for the reply. It’s one of my favorite cars to drive but man I put a lot of time into fixing a vary rusty wagon. Yeah I feel pretty beat up sometimes on the bigger projects, December-March are bitter cold and makes it tough lay on cold concrete but I love fixing them. Great question about treating the cross member rust. The truth, Time it’s so much faster then me. LOL Good luck on the Forrester.

    Hey Mike, great video. Im trying to fix my wipers at the moment. My problem is that I don’t have any ground to the blue cable into the motor. Do you think that could be the control switch inside the car? I was hoping I would not have to take it apart. Also, my pump was stuck and I’ve cleaned it up and lubricated, but the sliding lever that moves the pump piston seems to be very tight and takes a fair bit of force to move back and forth with your fingers. Is that normal?

    • @33milegarage34
      @33milegarage34 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yea. I would check the switch first. Make sure the switch and body have good grounds when testing. If the switch checks good. Check the motor ground next. That is assuming your wiper door is open with switch made also. Good luck and thanks for the question.
