33:30 true, but afaik Nintendo still has a commercial license to the Sony soundchip that was used in the SNES, so this shouldn't be a problem for a company working to release for Nintendo, they could have just reused their still existing license.

A lot of artists & developers at then Retro Studios who worked on Metroid prime had worked on Turok: Dinoaus Hunter & Turok 2: Seeds of Evil from Iguana Entertainment/Acclaim Studio Austin previously. After Metroid Prime 3, a lot of these early Retro Studio folks who originally came from Iguana/Acclaim Studio Austin left again & formed 343 Industries aka Halo Studio, but I don't know whether they still work on Halo games or whether they went somewhere else.

At 5:00 I thought, “hope they talk about the sound design.” Nailed it seconds later. The sound design for this game is legendary. So good.

Genuinely a lot of really awesome info in this that I legit didn't know about which is hard to find these days, especially about older games. Also the voice over guy is wonderful and is so pleasant to listen to :) please have him back for another one!

Fact number 1. It's shit!!!!

Sakamoto absolutely despised the Prime games and Retro Studios as a whole; when he failed to take Metroid into 3D on the N64, his pride took a big blow when foreigners were tasked to do it. This is why Fusion was released the day before Prime; he wanted to sabotage Retro's sales and bring Metroid back into his hands and nobody else's.

If Samus's hand didn't show up in the X ray visor, it would have been believable that Samus's elbows were placed at the armor's shoulder joint

I can't believe you wouldn't credit Tommy Tallarico for his pivotal role in this game, he spent 100 years handcrafting the one sound effect that would later become the whole game!

It's been three years already?

A new skip was found shortly after recording this podcast episode, and it was none other than Arkandy that found the skip, making this episode technically outdated before it even released LOL The skip is early in the game, as soon as you encounter E.M.M.I.-02SM. If you lure the E.M.M.I. up to the leftmost ceiling in that room, you can reach the upper-left door if you air-counter the E.M.M.I.. The background for that skip was that Bane (nibaneco) found out that Samus would Slide Jump higher up if the player artificially lagged the game by unpausing while a different area was shown on the map. Arkandy combined this trait with a Wall Jump tech that allowed you to descend slower, eventually being able to successfully lure the E.M.M.I. and counter it to reach the next room. We later found out that a regular Slide Jump is enough to do the skip, as long as the E.M.M.I. was already on the ceiling to begin with. A popular name for the skip is Joemama (Jump Over E.M.M.I., then Melee to Avoid Most of Artaria)
